On this episode with Neal and Julie, the conversation meanders through a mix of topics, blending humor, current events, and cultural commentary. They delve into the peculiar notion of a "poultry portfolio" and the price dynamics of fast food chicken nuggets, sparking laughs while touching on broader economic themes.
The discussion shifts to politics and government transparency, with a focus on Trump, drones, and the irony of secrecy in public policy. The duo debates conspiracy theories, the nature of government experiments, and whether we’re witnessing advanced tech or UFOs in disguise, fueled by listener calls and text submissions.
In lighter moments, they critique viral cultural phenomena, explore personal quirks like beverage preferences, and ponder society's reactions to crises. From social issues to Taco Bell’s latest menu addition, Neal and Julie navigate through it all with sharp wit and an engaging dynamic that keeps the audience coming back for more.

Now exclusive bonus content on The Neal Larson Show podcast.
For their Tuesday edition of the podcast and I saw this headline. I read this story and I thought, this needs to be our bonus content and presenting it to Julie without her knowing what this story is. Okay, so you are aware of the headline you saw this? I saw the headline, but I didn't read the story. And for some reason food always sucks us in.
So if there's a food story I would say are you and I foodies kind of a little bit I live. Yeah. Yeah. We share recipes. We, it's not like our main thing but I think it's a common common theme. Okay. So the headline in this case is that Taco Bell's adding a menu item. Okay. Now for a moment I thought back to a story from a week or two ago where Taco Bell is opening its own line of beverage centered locations.
Yeah. Yeah. And I thought, okay, this is just a rehashing of that story, but it's not it's totally different. Okay. Beginning Thursday, the chain is adding chicken nuggets to its menu. Okay. That doesn't match its. I know his food of origin. Yeah, but Taco Bell, they say they're putting their own spin on the fast food staple, marinating the all white meat in a zesty jalapeno buttermilk flavor.
Then coating it in tortilla chips and breadcrumbs, resulting in a flavorful alternative. Okay, so it's a little taco. I do know people I have seen recipes and and I know people do this. They do their own chicken strips at home and they crunch up like Nacho Cheese Doritos. And that's the breading. I've seen that. Yeah. Yeah. So maybe it's going to be good.
So, they said, by their own admission in a press release, they're entering a category where chicken nugget loyalty runs deep, notably dominated by McDonald's, Wendy's and Chick fil A. But it's part of Taco Bell's plan to expand its poultry portfolio, as younger eaters largely prefer it over red meat. So, okay, you know why younger eaters prefer it?
It's not a health choice. It's a chicken is way cheaper than beef right now. Yeah, I mean, I bring poultry portfolio into my vernacular. Yes. When somebody's too scared to do something and to be like, you need to broaden your poultry portfolio, you're going to bring the term poultry portfolio into your linguistic menu, aren't you? Yeah, yeah. Taco Bell's former CEO Mark King said at last year's yum!
Brands Investor Day that a large percentage of our business is beef, and the Gen Z consumer wants chicken. In response, the chain released in March a Cantina chicken menu which uses oven roasted shredded chicken for various items, including tacos and salads. The addition helps increase Taco Bell's sales at stores. Open at least a year by 5%. During the quarter, the menu rolled out with about 1 in 4 orders, including an item from the Chicken Cantina menu.
So my question will be to you. Will you try the Taco Bell chicken nugget? Sure. Okay. We'll have to go get some. We'll have to go do that and try to try it. That's the only time I ever get to Taco Bell is when we we go over and we do a social media video. Okay, let me ask you this because I think it may be higher now, but Burger King is like the cheapest of the cheap chicken nuggets in terms of the actual price.
Tell me if this gives you pause. Well, I'll just ask you what would you pay for five nuggets? What do you think it's worth? And you're not a nugget eater. So this is just guessing dollar 99. No 399. Really? That seems a little steep for Taco Bell. I'm just saying. Okay, that. Yeah. I mean five that's almost a buck, a nugget.
That's for fast food. That feels expensive. But maybe it is because I don't eat fast food, so maybe I'm maybe I'm not understanding how much the prices have raised. It does say prices will vary depending on the city, but the corporation is suggesting that price 699 for ten nuggets. So you'll save a little if you'd double your order with two sauces.
A $10 and 49 cent value meal will include five nuggets, one sauce, a crunchy taco, a beef chalupa, nacho fries, and a medium soda. I was gonna look up and see what does Chick-Fil-A charge for their nuggets? Well, yeah, I actually thought about that with McDonald's. And it's it's probably going to vary, but what? Chick fil A nuggets, eight pieces, $3.05 on this website.
So that's way cheaper. Yeah, that's cheaper than Taco Bell. Almost a dollar cheaper. And you get three more nuggets. This website is fast food menu prices.com 000. Stop. This article was published online on October of 2019. Okay. Pre Biden it's probably double that now for chick fil A a piece. It's probably six bucks. Yeah yeah yeah. So maybe 399 is a good price.
Maybe maybe it just it feels a little steep like you know. Yeah I still try it. Four bucks or five nuggets. Yeah, I try it. Yeah I'll give it a shot. Okay. Well we'll share. Okay. Ali, you'll eat four nuggets and I'll eat one. Yeah. With that. Yeah. They all believe that. All right. Okay. All right. Well, something to look, look forward to anyway.
Right. Okay. So okay. Here I'm going to give Taco Bell some props here. Yeah. They're trying to stay relevant. Yes. And I think that so many businesses screw that up and stay entrenched in what they're doing. And they don't change as things change. So good on them. So let me ask you this question. And I bring in Ihop.
First of all, it's the international House of pancakes. But they shortened to Ihop because they became more than pancakes. So like, we gotta we can't just keep saying pancakes all the time because we're more than that. Is is Taco Bell trying to be more than tacos? Because usually they've stayed pretty true to we have now. It's Americanized Mexican food.
It's certainly not authentic. But but now they're getting into beverages, now they're getting into chicken nuggets. Is they are they kind of going, okay, let let's branch out. And I agree with you I think kudos to them. I think Taco Bell is one of those restaurant franchises that probably could have just failed and faltered and been nonexistent today, but they they have adapted pretty well.
Yeah. I mean, maybe they're just broadening out. I also think that that's just how things are done now. Lots of people don't have just one really extreme niche. That's their thing. Like yeah, they they are broadening. You see lots of in our field, you don't just stay on one form of media. You're on multiple forms of media. I hear that's true.
So maybe it's just 2024 or 2025 and you're right. And speaking of that, let's get y'all to the podcast here. Enjoy.
You on the show? I just.
I'm. I'm you and.
A little bit of a cold and a little bit of a cold. Yeah. I mean, to be fair, that that was a montage of phlegm. It was a phlegm toge. It was a hat and cough Tage. Good morning. It's two. It's Tuesday. It's good to have you with us on this snowy morning. Roads are cruddy this morning. Wherever you go up and down I-15, especially between Idaho Falls and Pocatello.
We're getting reports of multiple slide off, so be careful. We also understand that there was it looks like a jackknifed semi truck along Palisades. I don't know the current status of that. However, I will say I don't see any road closures in that region. But we also are not there's no report as well in there.
So just so you know, you might encounter some delays if you, if you head that direction. We've not heard anything about school closures, at least not yet. And, we have a lot of politics to get to. Justin Trudeau, we've talked about our socialist friend and likely son of Fidel Castro, who now leads Canada. He may be on his last little stretch here as the prime minister of Canada.
I have a basic theory about socialism. And if I were ever to get an advanced degree in politics, I could write probably some kind of a thesis on there. You know, one of those fancy papers you have to write to get your diploma, one of those hoops, those rituals academically, you have to jump through. I could write on the trajectory of socialism.
It always starts out awesome. Because usually, socialism, socialism emerges from capitalism and everybody thinks, oh yeah, we can provide health care. We've got that down as a society. We can give education to everybody all the way through their college degree. We can provide housing, we can do all this. And at first it looks like you've got enough money.
It looks like you do have the resources to get that done. So you jump at it. It's like a it's like a teaser rate to get you to buy that home. But over time, the interest rates only go up and up and up, and after a certain amount of time, it just becomes unsustainable. That's the same trajectory of socialism, where the simplest analogy that I use is the the cart.
And at first you have a lot of people pulling the cart and a small handful of people riding in the cart, but over time, it's easier to stop pulling and start writing in the cart and stop pulling and easier to be pulled. And so more and more and more people jump into the cart, and fewer and fewer people are pulling the cart.
And at some point the wheels just fall off and your cart is broken, it appears. Apparently, I've not been paying attention to the fiscal shape of Canada's government, but apparent early. It's it's not very good right now. Mr. speaker, just to to underline the chaos we're faced with here, the finance minister resigned the day she was to present the fall budget, which was going to contain a massive deficit, overrun.
The job then went automatically to the industry minister, who immediately resigned, like on the spot, which then went down the line. And the next person in order was the famous two Randy's. And they're not available to do the job either. We're now less than two hours away from the fall economic update. Why won't the Prime Minister have the courage to come in here, presented himself and put it for a confidence vote tonight?
Here, here, here, here I love that. And then you had this. This is as serious as it gets. The finance minister quit hours before she was supposed to do this. And she doesn't have confidence in this Prime Minister. No one dies. This man is a disgrace. And we need an election now. Now we need an election, Grace. And we need an election now.
Now the headlines on Drudge. Trudeau teeters, government crumbles. Now, when we say the government crumbles, it doesn't mean the same way as it does in America, which is like the revolution in a constitutional convention. What it means is the Prime Minister's chosen people no longer have the confidence of the people at large or Parliament, and they can force a vote to to change it.
That's what that means when they lose their government. So it it's a little a little different than, than what we have here. So we're watching that this is the Trump effect. And I would imagine even though Trump was very polite and hosted Justin Trudeau at Mar-A-Lago, I think this is a good day for Trump. And Trump is cheering for, the downfall because I think the the Canadian parliament, by extension, the Canadian people are recognizing this socialism experiment, at least to the degree we've been trying.
It just isn't isn't working. So, there's a close up picture of Justin Trudeau with tears rolling down his face is probably out of context. It's probably some file photo that they found of him crying at a funeral or something, but, but I guess appropriate, even if mischaracterized. We also have the drone mystery that continues to deepen.
And listen closely. This is John Kirby talking about drones, but not talking about the drones. You've heard a lot of concern, a lot of coverage. Where are you tonight on this? As we look at the information, we've got Brett and we've now examined some 5000 different sightings. We've added detection capabilities, additional observers. As you and I stand here today to date, our assessment, is that this is lawful legal commercial hobbyist, and even law enforcement aircraft activity, some of it's manned, some of it's unmanned.
We absolutely, acknowledge that, a lot of these are probably drones, but they're they're flying legally, and it is legal to fly. Drones, in non restricted, restricted airspace as long as you register with the FAA and there's thousands and thousands, of, of these kinds of flights, every single day, I think there's more than a million drones that are, registered with the FAA just in the United States alone.
Okay. If I if I had jumped on ChatGPT and I said, ChatGPT give me eight bullet point facts about drones in the United States of America, it would spit out something that resembled what you just heard from John Kirby. What John Kirby didn't address is what the double hockey sticks is going on. And and these we're not talking about drones in general, John Kirby.
We don't mean when you can go and buy, you know, for 150 bucks off the shelf, a drone with a 4K camera on. We're not talking about hobby drones, so don't say anything about that. Don't talk about, well, there are over a million drones in the FAA database. Nobody wants to hear that. What are these creepy drones doing over new Jersey?
That's what we want you to answer. John Kirby, someone asked President Trump in his wide ranging interview about the drones, and here's how he answered it. He said, yeah, the government knows exactly what these are. Can you comment on the drones that are flying around New Jersey's airports? And it seems like the American people, either the government, the government knows what is happening.
Look, our military knows where they took off from. If it's a garage, they can go right into that garage. They know where it came from and where it went. And for some reason, they don't want to comment. And I think they'd be better off saying what it is our military knows and our our president knows. And for some reason, they want to keep people in suspense.
I can't imagine it's the enemy because it was the enemy they'd blasted out even if they were late, that blasted, something strange is going on. For some reason. They don't want to tell the people, and they should, because the people are really. I mean, they happen to be over Bedminster, and I know that we have very they're very close to Bedminster.
I think maybe I won't spend the weekend in Bedminster. I've decided to cancel my trip. Have you received an intelligence briefing on the drones? I don't want to comment on that. Have you been any reason to think they're okay? Now, keep in mind, I say this with very gentle effect. I did find some level of irony that you have Donald Trump calling on the government to be transparent about the drones.
And then when he's asked the question, have you received an intelligence briefing on the drones? His answer is, I can't comment on that like that, that you got to admit, that's kind of funny and and a little bit ironic here, but maybe part of him being briefed is that he can't comment on it. All right. Again, I say it with gentle effect.
It's not really a criticism of Donald Trump. If anything, he's just saying I can't comment because he can't comment. Part of the deal is if you're a president elect and you're going to get high level top secret briefings, you can't comment. And that's got to be, your answer to it. Now, I've asked around, I've poked around, I've I've listened.
There's lots of conspiracies that this is a precursor to something very, very bad. In the coming weeks, we've all if you've been doomscrolling on social media, you've probably heard the ominous music and the clearly CGI. I, what's the word here? The they've added CGI to these videos to show a tractor beam coming down from I mean, you've all seen that, right?
It's just sort of everywhere. And I don't there's a lot of that going on and I don't I sort of put all that aside, and I hope you don't get caught up in it. My job as your host is to make sure you don't get caught up in in videos that are deliberately made to make you feel a certain way.
So they go viral and you share it and you're like, Holy crap, did you see the tractor beam coming out of that drone? Okay, don't do it. Don't fall for it. Here's here's what I think it may be. And number one, it could be something as simple as the government. There is some level of a threat. And they're looking with sensors to see if they can find something that has a certain heat signature that's radioactive or whatever.
That's very possible in that, in that environment, they really could not say anything. Because what if I were to say to you and let me preface this with, there's no truth to what I'm about to tell you. I'm asking you to imagine a scenario that there was some kind of a dirty bomb somewhere between Rexburg and the Utah border.
Okay, what would you do? You would probably call relatives. You might think of an escape plan. You might get in your car and say, we're going somewhere else for Christmas this year. Like you, you it could create a panic. Undoubtedly, the first step would be all of the toilet paper would be gone at the local grocery stores. That would be the first thing that would happen in this completely pretend manufactured scenario.
Okay, even if you were leaving town, your first step would be to go out and buy up all the toilet paper, because that's what we do now, whenever we whenever we get to the next Defcon level, we're like, okay, I need the shaman. Like you're not concerned about your personal safety. That's what I find really weird that when times get really hard, people are like, I got to be able to wipe.
That's the most important thing. And once, once I have secured the ability to wipe, then I can decide what we're going to do to save my family. I'll protect my kids after I get the toilet paper. Anyway, that's just a little aside. For for a moment, you'd freak out. And if you live on the East coast, where the population density is higher and evacuations are a nightmare, you would probably freak out even more.
So they couldn't. If there really is some kind of a dirty bomb or some kind of a threat going on, and maybe that's why John Kirby is so stinking vague. Another possibility is that this is some kind of a psychological study. Now, you've heard this, and I know, again, I just ripped into the conspiracy theorists, but we know that we have seen odd footage of unidentified aerial phenomena.
UAPs used to call them UFOs, whatever. But you can't really column UFOs anymore because they don't always fly. I don't know if we can call it flying. Some of them come up out of the ocean like it's just weird and nobody can really explain it. You have more murky corners saying that there are biological entities associated with this.
And the the theory is that the government knows more and wants to have more disclosure because there is more, scrutiny on this. And so they're kind of creating an environment that has the potential, but in a controllable way, some level of hysteria. Now, we don't have people out killing other people. We don't have riots. We're not we're not.
People are just concerned. What are these? What are these lights? What are these drones? What are these entities that are that are flying around and that I think is a possibility? Don't think for a moment in this world where every click that we make online is cataloged, our data is kept track of that. They aren't studying the public response to these series of drone sightings that we're seeing.
And by the way, I don't know if you heard this or not, but there's now a story out of Utah. Someone captured some videos that look very much like what we've seen the last couple of weeks out of new Jersey, but Overhill Air Force Base that some of these sightings allegedly again, I don't I didn't look at it terribly close, but, it's close enough that you have the TV stations covering it down there.
It's gone viral on social media. We actually and we. Why did we not know this until Monday night? But Wright-Patterson Air Force Base was actually shut down for a few hours Friday night into Saturday morning because of drone activity. Your transition is still approved, however. Patterson class Delta sterilized as of 0330 Zulu for, heavy unknown UAS activity.
Security forces is handling it, and Columbus is going to sterilize the airspace after you leave the Delta. President. Thank you. All aircraft use extreme caution. Patterson closed. Delta is now closed for heavy UAS activity. Okay, UA heavy UAF activity. That means we have too many drones for us to use our Air force base safely. So I, I really think that it is time for answers from our government, and I don't know if we're going to get them, but to me, it's clear the way they're acting.
They know. They know exactly what these things are and what they're doing and what's happening. Got a break. It's 825. It's a Tuesday edition of The Neal Larsen Show. If you'd like to join us this morning, here's the number. It's the fall River propane. Call and text line (208) 542-1079.
Are you and.
We have a little bit of a call. Yes you do, Mr. President. You do have a little bit of a cold at his age and health factors, colds can be deadly. He needs to be careful. I wonder if, like, how do you spell the sound of a cough? His cough. Onomatopoeia. Cough cough cough. I think it is on him on a p.
Anyway, I wonder if that was on the teleprompter. Yeah, I think.
Please cough now please cough now. Cough cough cough cough oh. Garner nations sympathy. Yeah. No. Okay. Welcome. Welcome back. Julie, somebody in the text, which we're totally good with. Okay. Disagreed with us and felt like they were fine with Ketanji Brown Jackson showing up and performing Cringe Alley in a queer reimagining of Romeo and Juliet.
Yeah, they thought it was just her having fun and whatever. Do you. I'm back to my question, though, because you feeling like it's okay or that it wasn't that big of a deal, that's fine. But that doesn't answer my question. How much time did she have to give in order to prepare for this? How many shows is she going to be in?
And that's my question, because I, I guess I just assumed there was a lot of work going into being a Supreme Court justice. I didn't think they were working 80 hour weeks, but I expected them to be doing something. Do you think, she tells her cast mates, I have a little gig on the site? Yes. I think somebody said to her, don't quit your day job.
Yeah, probably. So. Like which? Which group of people is she telling? I have a gig on the side, maybe. Oh, they're saying don't quit your day job. Which was my day job. Oh, which one is, is it? Yeah. Right. Definitely quit your night job, though, after I saw that she definitely needs to quit her night job, so, I they're like, look, she's just having fun.
I like, I, I and I can understand that. I still think that this deteriorates the image that we have of Supreme Court justices. I don't think they have to be buttoned up all the time. I think we can have fun, anecdotal things, but but to show up and have something is highly political. And and in fact, the quote that we have of her from this is about what was it feminist power, female power, empowerment, female empowerment.
That's what it is. Okay? Female empowerment.
Shit, I like it too. I think what I like about it is that I am having a very strongly negative reaction to it. Like I hate it. Which makes me think it must be brilliant. I got this feeling in my body. Okay, there. There's your sample. I'm. I'm so much better off now that I've listened to that twice this morning.
I feel like we have 30 people out there texting us. Do not ever play that ever again. I mean, I don't know how to explain it. I don't know how to explain it if you can't see her. But she's overexaggerating excitement in the clip. Yeah, it comes off almost like an adult trying to play a child. Yeah. And maybe that's maybe she is in that.
Maybe it's a child in the Romeo and Juliet reimagining. I don't know, but no, it's it's bizarre at best. Can you imagine if, I don't know, Clarence Thomas became the fourth tenor. The mockery.
But I don't know. I'm trying to think what Kavanaugh would do. Oh, I yeah, I don't know, star in the next magic Mike movie, but maybe, maybe I, I don't know, but if, if and maybe that's part of it too is the frustration here. It's almost like the reaction that I have when you watch The View and the the sycophantic applause that happens anytime one of them says something with a little bit of passion.
It just it's just this sort of automatic here. You did such a good job with that comment. They're they're doing the same thing. Everybody knows the acting is cringe and it's terrible. And the only reason she's getting so much applause and praise is because she's an incredibly liberal member of the Supreme Court. Okay, that's so we're not even being honest about about this.
You know, it's we're affording her something that we do for children who struggled to fit in, get in a school play or something like that. We're not applauding her because her performance was great. Okay. But she's a grown woman. We're plotting her because. But you know what your analogy is spot on. It's almost treating them like they're disabled.
Yeah I hate to applaud that. Yeah. It's it's just weird. It's like you know she's no good. But we did this amazing thing by letting a Supreme Court justice do this. So we've got to go over the top with it. Yeah, I guess I know I know. So anyway, I again, it's not the end of the world, but I'm, I'm not going to lie and say, oh, it's totally neutral and I'm fine with it.
I think it's kind of beneath the dignity of what is Supreme Court justices that you don't, you don't put yourself in these kinds of situations. It's a I this is a stretch, but I'm going to say it anyways. It is a it's slightly tone deaf to have this clip drop today too, based upon the fact that there was the shooting in Wisconsin yesterday.
Yeah. And that that entire manifesto that they, they say is hers, they haven't 100% agreed that it's her yet, but it really looks like it's hers is talking all about female empowerment. Yeah. So it I know that there was no planning there or whatever, but it's a little tone deaf when a teacher and a student and then the person who wrote the manifesto were all dead this morning after that shooting and that and shooting was about women don't have enough power.
And I'm going to show you what power is. Yeah, we we really haven't talked much about the shooting. We don't I don't like bringing a ton of attention to it. The left, predictably, is bringing up gun control, which, oddly. And I'm glad X is pointing this out. Previous Twitter probably would have silenced this point being made, but nobody said a thing about gun control when the CEO of United Health Care was assassinated.
Now we've turned the guy into a hero. His go fund Me is over $100,000. Like the guy's a hero. He used a gun, a ghost gun, right? He printed at home or at a. Yeah, at a facility. And this girl, we're not sure about the gun yet. They haven't released the the comments about that yet. But even with the gun control laws that they were proposing, she wouldn't have fallen within those laws anyway.
So the gun control laws don't even matter in this case. No, no they don't. It's just another time for them to preach their mantra. So Andrew McCabe was on CNN and and it was almost like he this is their new talking point when they propose. No. When they use a tragedy to talk about a political goal, which if it's achieved, would not have avoided the tragedy.
Right. I'm going to implement something that would have done absolutely nothing. Yes. Let's find a solution that would not have prevented the problem. We're talking about. To introduce the solution here.
Look, it's like it's the weirdest thing ever. The nine year old steals the car and takes it joyriding. We need to make sure every like driver is licensed. He was nine. No one said he wasn't going to be licensed. He didn't fall in that room. Yes, right, right. Exactly. Listen to this. Keeping them out of the hands of children and doing really vigorous, consistent background checks across the country.
We could stop selling people to stop you eliminate the ability to purchase guns, without a background check. Now, we don't know if any of those factors were relevant in this shooting, but we're talking about a big problem here, right? That these are the things that impact the level of gun violence in our country. But the fact is, we do not have the political will to improve this situation.
Bull crap. The problem is the left. We can improve the situation with more attention on mental health. We can improve the situation by not. And I again I think our kids are really struggling because we are painting a picture of a very dark and dreary future for them, with the climate, with health care, with, you know, everything environmentalism, all of it.
We make them think there's no future in, in the country. Well, there's a whole portion of the population that think there's no future because Trump's going to be president for four years. Absolutely. They've been telling them Hitler's coming and you're you're you're not going to be able to vote and year. So they're painting this bleak picture. Kids are showing up at school shooting up the school.
Whatever the case may be. And and so when he says nothing can be done, he's only saying that because he believes the only thing that can be done is to limit the Second Amendment rights of Americans. Okay. They're limiting the options. And if you want to talk about other options that could be beneficial. They don't want to talk about that.
So they're saying there's no political will. No. The lack of political will is actually the lack of courage on your part to go beyond the Second Amendment and look at solutions, look at the inputs into why this is happening, as opposed to just the the fact that guns are being used for these crimes. Right. There's a lot of issues.
We brought one up earlier. I was telling you that the young man that was dating this girl, supposedly to, was quoted yesterday as saying that the picture that everyone's sharing of her, which is a selfie, probably in a bathroom and she's got a band t shirt on that he doesn't remember his girlfriend looking that way. And I'm like, I don't even know what that phrase means.
I this is a selfie that was available on her social media. Yeah. So how do you not remember her looking that way? And then that led me to go. I truly feel like these kids are growing up in a pretend atmosphere. They have online relationships they don't know, like one on one developmental companionship. They don't get it. Yeah, and that's our fault.
That's our fault. We've done it wrong. Yeah. As adults. Yeah. We've created a very complex world for them. 842 we'll break. We'll be back. If you'd like to join us on the fall River propane call and text line. That number is (208) 542-1007 nine 848 Newstalk. 1079 Neal Larson, Julie Mason and you. If you'd like to reach us on the fall River propane, call and text line.
I'm kind of curious. Julie. I think next hour we should do a quick drone flash poll. What do you think they are and have people calling? I just want to get people's take because there's been a lot of talk now there's enough theories floating around there. I'm sure we can get lots of different ones. Yeah, yeah. Because the, the radiation theory, well, that doesn't make any sense if we're seeing drones and a whole bunch of different places, unless there's radiation in other places and we don't have indication there's radiation in other places.
Well, unless they don't know where it is and they assume it's going to be in a transportation corridor similar maybe. Yeah, maybe they lost control of it enough that they don't know where it actually ended up there. They're having to scan multiple places. Yeah. Okay. If you had to guess what. What is it? If you had to guess I definitely think it's government.
Yeah. I think it's interesting that Kirby doesn't say the government. Yeah. But he does cover himself when he says private, which they purchased from private companies. So he can probably third party whatever. Yes. He can probably cover himself. Yeah. Center of it. Yeah. So but I believe it's it's government centered. I just don't know what they're looking for.
And again, I know I'm hung up on this, but the fact that they're flying at night time matters. I. Well, do we know they're not flying in the daytime as well? They're just much more visible. They're much more visible at night. But I think that we would have at least people looking in the day to now. I mean, it's gotten enough press that I would think people would be looking in the day.
I'm going to do I'm going to do a little bit of a dig on that, because you're right, all the videos we have are of nighttime, but a daytime video of a drone may be difficult that far away. Like, you know, it's just easier to see the lights when they're when they're on it. And I think you wouldn't recognize them a week and a half ago.
You wouldn't really be paying much attention during the daytime. But I would think if they were flying daytime, I think now people would be picking it up. Yeah, in some way. Yeah yeah, yeah. But that's a good. Yeah I mean that's a good clue. It's a good, good observation. So okay we, we do want to hear undoubtedly people are going to call in and they will have the craziest, wildest conspiracy.
I'm sure there's people who think it's UFO based. Like these are drones from a different world. Yes. Or. Yeah, they're actually not manufactured nationally and that we don't understand the capabilities of these aircraft. So I've heard the theory enough from different places that we should at least leave the possibility open. It is some kind of a psychological operation.
It's it's testing the public's emotional and mental reaction to to these things. Yeah. I think that's fair to. Yeah. It's all fair game. It's time to start I suppose, because they could be they could be doing both. Well, we got to find this, this radiation and where it's at and what's happened with it. Let's also really overanalyze for the radiation and see how the public reacts.
Yeah. Yeah. That's that's true. That's true. All right. It's 852 on Newstalk 1079. And, we'll break and we will come back with our final segment this hour, but we've got another hour coming up and we are going to have that flagpole. We're just going to open it up. What do you think the drones are? Because this is a phenomenon that we're now what, in the third, fourth week?
Something like that. Been going for a minute. All right. We'll be back. It's 856 on Newstalk 179 Neal Larsen Julie Mason. So Julie, it's not too late to call up Grand Peak's prime mates and say, you know what I want to give my kids, quarter B for Christmas or a bunch of steaks or ribs or brats or pre-cooked sous vide crockpot meals.
I used more ground beef out of my freezer from Grand Peaks just yesterday. Yeah. Which, yeah, spaghetti. Just super basic, but it was yummy because that's the quality of the beef that you get at Grand Peaks. There's always sort of that. Oh, I have that from Grand Peaks. Like it's a little bit of excitement. You know what was on top of the ground beef.
What fajitas. That is coming out later this week. I thought you meant on the spaghetti. And I'm like, that's a weird meal. But it might be okay. Fajitas, spaghetti. Now in the freezer. I did move the fajitas to get the ground beef. Gotcha. Okay, well, fill your freezer. Now's a great time to do it. Makes a great Christmas gift if you go online to GP Prime meats.com, you can see their packages and specials.
Pick what you'd like. You can you can order online or you can call in your order. They're super super friendly and good to work with. And then you go they got everything boxed up for you. And your ego is super easy. I'm going to be really vulnerable here. I've yet to have someone tell me they're disappointed. And how many people have we referred there?
I mean, obviously we're referring all of the listeners, but then people will contact us individually and say, is it really that good? Yeah. And we say, yes, they really nobody has complained. I know we have not gotten a single negative. No, not one. And sometimes, you know, we've endorsed for a lot of different products an overwhelming we only endorse products that get positive.
But once in a while you'll get a complaint about things we've never had one with you. Are we tempting fate here with the universe? No, I'm not confident. Yeah. All right, it's 859. Our two coming up. We've got that flash poll for you right here on Newstalk 1079. And this music bed ends 10s before it tells me it's going to.
So I will talk right up to the post. Welcome back. It's our two on Newstalk 1078 Neal Larson along with Julie Mason. I just went to the restroom. Julie and I have to tell you, can I share a story? Yeah, I do a pregnant pause right there that no one knows where this is going. Everybody out there listening is like, no, Neal, don't.
We don't want to know. No, actually, this is this is fine. You'll understand. I look in the mirror and I realize this is what happens when you get dressed in dim light in the morning with a blue shirt underneath, and then a black pullover top that's like, this is terrible. It's okay. So if you're on Facebook Live, yes, I everyone's for you.
And yeah, everyone's forgiving you. Yeah okay. All right. Welcome to 085421079. And we're going to do this the flagpole thing. Yeah. We've already got people sending in stuff on the on the text line, so yes, let's do it. Okay. And if you'd like to, join us on the program again, the numbers (208) 542-1079. And I'm going to try something here.
Okay. I hope this works. All right. You ready? Do it. Hey, there we go. Good. All right, let's go to the phones. We're asking you the drones. What are the drones? What's your theory? What do you think it is? And, we'll go to our first caller. Caller? Go ahead. What do you think the drones are? Well, I think, it's a psyop.
And I, also have seen articles pertaining to this, particularly with Trump saying that they know where they're coming from. They're know where they're going. So I think in his own way, he kind of blew their theory out of the water. What they were proposing to do out of the water. So I think he's just a big psyop.
You got stories? Sanders missing nuclear material. A lot of that was supposed to go to Spain and all that. So if you put the dots together, it kind of makes sense of what's going on. So anyhow, that's my input. Thank you for having me. Okay. Thank you for the call. (208) 542-1079. Caller going back. Caller I have to ask you what what is your phone set up like?
How are you talking to us? Are you on a Bluetooth? No I'm not. You're just on your regular for of regular your regular phone. You're getting a lot of feedback on call back. Well, a usually a we're getting it when when you call, do you have a radio on in the background by any chance. No. No okay. All right.
Go go ahead and give your theory while you're on. It's just we won't be able to talk back and forth too much. Okay? I personally think it's the Canadian government that's spying ahead of time in case Trump, implements a bunch of tariffs against him. Okay. Us. Okay. Thank you. Preemptive spying (208) 542-1079 Neal Larson and Julie Mason caller go ahead.
What do you think the drones are? I think it's, trying to get their money's worth out of them before he leaves office. Getting their money's worth. What do you mean, out of the president's, there's inaction. Oh, okay. They're they're doing whatever nefarious means they can get away with before he leaves office in the next 30 days is their window.
So let me ask you, what do you think this nefarious ness is that, they I mean, they're obviously they've got, Air Force bases are getting shut down by the traffic and so they're just seeing how far they can push the limits and, you know, okay, there's so much Intel they can on us so they can, you know, further their economic warfare as well as their, ability to affect us.
Yeah. And our safety. All right. Thank you for the call. (208) 542-1079. Let's go to our next caller. What do you think it is? Caller It's Santa Claus. Check in twice. Oh, it's Santa Claus. Is spy operation. Yes. So you all be good on East Coast because you know how you get. Merry Christmas, everybody. Have a great day. Okay.
Thank you. Thank you for the call. 208542 179 let's go to our next caller. What do you think the, drones are, some type of government experiment? Okay. Any deeper thoughts than that? Okay. Thank you for 20854212. All right. He's listening to the radio, not us. So anyway, go ahead. What are the tech saying? Okay, I was going to say that somebody said these drones, they're all deep state theater just like Pelosi's J six was theater.
It's all B.S. their goal is obviously to gaslight us. Okay, gotcha. Another person said my mother in law upgraded from her broom. We're going to give out their phone number. Not really. I'm going to figure out who you are, because we do that sometimes. And I'm going to call your mother in law. Yeah. Someone said, why is it that if the American government knows what these drones are, and why hasn't the incoming president been notified?
Well, I believe he has. He they asked him, have you been briefed? And he's like, I'm not going to comment on that. Which means, yes, I've been briefed, but you're getting no details from me. Also, who's to say that what they're telling him is the truth? They can be giving him very I mean, maybe just scant details. They know far more, but they're only giving him a little bit.
Oh, yes. You know, one of the things that Trump did say about this, that I feel I felt was a good point on his part, is why haven't we been able to figure out where they arrive from and where they go to? They can't stay in the sky forever. Yeah. Why aren't we tracking them? Well, and so I think we are.
Yes. And because we've had multiple people saying they know where they're coming from. Yes. So that that's a Trump said for the one for that just main reason alone. Let's not wonder why they are in the sky, wonder where they came from. That was a really obvious solution. So they're not telling us. Yeah, that's that's true. That's a good point.
Let's go to the next caller. Caller go ahead. You they came from. All right. Caller, do not listen to your radio. Listen to your phone. And, go ahead and chat with us, little scholar caller. Go ahead. Okay. You can if you call in and get on hold, you got to turn your radio off because it's delayed by about 7 or 8 seconds.
Yeah. All right. We do want to hear from you, though. So call back just once you're on hold, turn your radio down or you're going to be massively confused. Yep. All right. Joy 5421079. Someone said it sounds crazy, but I think it might be to prep us for the alien invasion false flag to bring about a one world government that controls everything.
What are your thoughts about that? That's a that's a that's a very broad thought process, because you've got to get so many governments involved in order for that to happen. But do I think it can? Yeah. Yeah. I don't think Trump's engaged in any of that. Oh no I don't think so. So if they're going to do it they've got, you know a month.
Yeah. That's it. Yeah. Let's go to the next caller. Caller what do you think the drones are? What's happening? Well, I don't know exactly what's going on with in lives. Probably some Chinese or Iranian, attempt to gather information on us. But something people need to understand, too, is don't be getting so mad that the government's not telling you what they are because, militarily, we don't want them to know how much we actually know about what they're doing.
So by them trying to gather enough Intel on us, we're actually back doing them and gathering Intel on them. And we don't want them to know how much we actually know. Okay. So it's a waiting. So it's a way for us to kind of gather information on them by them, making them think we don't know what's going on.
Okay, that makes sense. Yeah. Thank you for the call. And the theory. (208) 542-1079 the drones are a distraction. There must be some government action taking place somewhere else during Biden's last few weeks in office. Like selling off the border wall materials, I do. I want to read something. I'll just say I texted some friends last night about this.
What do you think the drones are? And, one response was very interesting. He says, I think it's bait. The fish always look at the bait so they don't see the hook. High concentration of craziness to get all of our attention and focus on that while something else is going on over there. Why else would they be so visible?
They're being seen because they're intended to be seen. So why? So we aren't looking at the hook. So what's the hook? That's true. The drones may not be the concerning thing. It's what we're not seeing because we're watching the drones. That might be the. Yeah, the thing the drones are designed to be seen. Right. Sure. I mean, people complete people say that once the drone is starting to be tracked, the lights go away.
Yeah, I think that's where the UFO concept comes in, that that they're able to fly without lights and I don't know. And if you believe John Kirby, he's saying that they're all legal. So but I guess we don't have any legal control over aliens. Yeah. Aircraft. So yes, they would still be legal. Yeah. Who knows I don't know.
Yeah, I know we don't know enough. And that's that's the problem. Next caller. Caller, what do you say? What do you think these things are? Well, I think the first caller was correct. It's a psyop. And I think you're correct. I think this whole thing is like, Wizard of Oz. Don't pay any attention to the man behind the curtain.
These are not all drones, either. There are some planes people are mistaking helicopters and planes. But they're not all drones. Drones don't do hypersonic speeds. And it's been documented, through air traffic, that these, objects are from the west coast to the East Coast. It's not just new Jersey. Yeah. Back. Engineer, this three years, I've got emails proving it.
For where I worked, and I, you know, so that this is something that they're doing. It's a deception act. It's no different than Biden, allowing you, you created a lot of missiles over into Russia right after Trump was elected. What, about 72 hours within? Trump was elected, that he gives $10 billion to Iran. So know it's like it's pure deception.
The Bible talks about it. You know, do not be deceived. Yeah. So this is all set up and I think you're right. Don't look at, you know, where what I'm doing over here. Pay attention to the drones and the UFOs. Yeah. Are you opposed, by the way? They're all ours. Okay, all right. Thank you for the call.
(208) 542-1279. All interesting theories. So, after all, are UFOs, I want to ask him what he means by that. He doesn't think there's any other life out there at all. I don't know, I think what he's saying is that everything that we've been seeing has been a manufactured experience. So even the stuff that they've they've talked about on Capitol Hill, he believes that we have manufactured.
Yeah. You know it's interesting. Yeah. Like the Tic TAC videos that from the military now they're it's a very real phenomenon. But I think according to this theory, for instance, Julie, if I took a laser pointer and I shown it on the wall and I went from one corner to the other corner really fast, it would look like that laser was traveling way fast.
Right now, if you do that in the sky, you can make something look like it can do crazy things. There's a lot of holographic type technology maybe they haven't told us about that. You can create the image of something that an actual physical object could never, could never do, but you could project it into what appeared to be into existence.
So. But I don't know if that's true or not. I'm just saying that's one of the theories that I've read about that they put forward. So, I don't know. I don't know either. I don't know, maybe maybe for safety reasons, I'm going to go back to what my daughter said to me like three days ago is she thinks it's a new Jersey, is planning the most epic New Year's Eve ever, and it's going to be a drone show that looks like fireworks.
So maybe that's what I maybe that just makes me feel better inside today than worrying that our government A is so dishonest. B what are we missing if it's if it's the fish in the hook, what are we missing? Yeah. You know, I, I don't know. It's a good no either. It's a good question. All right. 921 on Newstalk one oh 70 thank you all interesting theories, by the way.
Oh yeah. I thought it was I thought it was good. And, we're going to take a break, but we'll be back after this on Newstalk 179. Okay. We I'm going to capture all those calls for promos. In reality, I don't know if I even want the government involved in any of this. I know that's our military. I get it, there's a reason that we need the government involved, but don't they just kind of mess everything up?
I get rather private industry come in and figure out what it is, because I think we'd get more honest results if we did that than having. I mean, the government's going to lie to us to get whatever they want. Yeah, that's all things. That's not this. I it's all aspects of government. I mean, they're trying to load up that that spending bill right now.
They're lying to you about that. They lied to you about Ukraine. They lied. Okay, let me ask you this question, okay. Because and I'll ask either cynical Julie or hopeful Julie. Okay. What are the chances Ukraine funding fight finds its way into this spending bill? Oh, I think it's very possible. I don't even I don't think that's cynical.
I think that somehow they'll make sure that Ukraine funding is included in that. Yeah. Despite assurances from Mike Johnson that that's not going to happen. Yeah. Yeah, I have that same cynicism that it it doesn't matter. They're they're going to find a way to get more money to Ukraine. Oh hold on, hold on I think hold on, hold on.
My bad. We just had a few seconds of dead air. That's okay. I was thinking about Nancy Pelosi and her broken hip. Yeah. And a spending bill. Can she have someone vote for her, proxy vote, maybe I, I yeah, because it varies depending upon what they're trying to vote for. And how many of our stinkin Republican lawmakers went on vacation early and aren't going to be there to vote?
No. So here's what happened during the pandemic. They changed the rules to allow proxy voting to happen. Republicans hated it because Democrats could just essentially vote from home right? In 2022, when Mike Johnson came over. Then they ended proxy voting. So you have to be there, which is why we've had these stories, because Trump was picking some people from the House are like, you can't we don't have margins here that we can do this.
So if you have people who are I mean, ones in absence, they'll be replaced. But but they're saying everybody has to show up in order to vote in Trump's stuff. So so there was talk this morning that Trump, is going to name a Democrat House member as the cabinet member over FEMA. Yeah, the director of FEMA, which sounds weird, right?
Yeah. But he's from Florida and in Florida, you have to have a special election to replace that Congress person. And this is a tossup district. So a Republican could win it. Yeah. So it puts a, moderate Democrat very like Joe Manchin type Democrat in place as a FEMA cabinet member opens up that that's House seat and a special election occurs and possibly a Republican wins it.
And we get one more. So we only have one. We are up by one in the house. That is not a margin. I mean, you want the majority, but yeah, that's too slim. Somebody says this, we're going to find out. This is just, a YouTuber, Mr. Beast. Somebody like that, that put all the drones out? I don't think so.
I don't feel like this is a social media stunt. I think it would have fallen apart far before now if it was. Yeah, I agree, you know what I think? Remind me if I don't mention it, I want to say it on air, like, okay, get the get your fresh take on it. So I cut in the last ten minutes.
So sleepy. Really? Yeah. It's me. I'm that boring. I think it's, winter blues because, man, it's hitting. Yeah. Okay, here we go, here we go, here we go. Crap. Here we go.
927 on Newstalk 1079 Neal Larson along with Julie Mason. I forgot what I was going to throw at you. I did, you see, I was just going to say, what were we talking about? I was going to ask you the quote, oh no, no, now I know what it is. Okay, okay. It's not really a question. It's a take that Trump is you know he he well he won against ABC News and George Stephanopoulos 15 million bucks plus million for attorney's fees.
He's now saying he is going to sue that pollster in Iowa. He's also going after some other people 60 minutes, 60 minutes. That's right. I actually my hot take on this is I don't think Trump cares whether he wins or loses these cases. He is doing this to keep to make sure that the journalistic establishment behaves, that it's it's preemptive to say I am willing to sue you if you defame me.
And so when you have someone as completely irresponsible as George Stephanopoulos lying about the the lawsuit against him, or you said he was found liable for rape, completely untrue and absolutely slanderous, that you'll be more careful as a pundit. You'll be more careful as a journalist, or if you're on air somehow and you're talking politics so that you.
Trump's willingness to sue is truly the what he's trying to accomplish here in terms of a disincentive for journalists to behave badly. I yeah, I could totally see that being plausible. I, I don't know. Here's the deal about the the poll in. I keep screwing it up whether it's Iowa or I. Ohio. I think it was Iowa.
Right. So the poll that was in Iowa, it's Ohio for Ohio. Yeah. It's just a bunch of cornfields and farmers. They should just merge to be Ohio. I'm not sure what the paper could have misrepresented that would have qualified for a lawsuit. And then the lawsuit was 60 minutes. He made more than those two. But looking at the lawsuit was 60 minutes.
It's not Trump that can sue. It's got to be like potentially like the RNC because they highlighted a candidate like. So maybe he'll encourage somebody else to filed a lawsuit on behalf of him. Yeah. Because I'm not sure him as an individual entity can sue 60 minutes for doctoring an interview. Does that make sense? Yeah. I think there's got to be a stronger connection there.
And some people would say well he was the one running against her. I still don't think that's enough, but I think just the threat of it helps them start to reevaluate what they're doing. And it's a multifaceted threat. Right. So you've got the threat of lawsuits, you've got the viewership down. You've got Elon Musk threatening to purchase, you've got so much going on there that they've got to start reflecting on what they're doing.
I understand four months ago, Sunny Hostin on The View would never read legal disclaimer after legal disclaimer like that. If they didn't think they were getting in trouble. Yeah. And they now think they have the potential to get in trouble. That's why the legal disclaimers are happening all of the time. Yeah. And would you say that if if these news outlets I say that very loosely, if these news outlets had simply been responsible in talking about Trump, the charges against him, the outcome in this case, whatever they they now have nothing to worry about.
It's just reinforcing the journalistic parameters that they have. Trump's not saying you can't say anything negative about me. He's saying, I'll sue you if you say things that are slanderous about me. That's really the message that he's sending. That is the message. And I think you can equate this to lots of parts of life. Right? I think that was part of my frustration with the library porn bill in Idaho.
Well, librarians, if you aren't do anything wrong, why do you care? We wrote a law. Yeah. Hey, it's the it's the same concept, right? Jake tapper if you're if you're if you're doing your job, you don't have anything to worry about. Yeah. You use the right verbiage. George Stephanopoulos. The words were written for him. It would have taken me a three second, Google search to figure out the exact wording of what Trump was found guilty.
Is not the word liable of in the civil suit? Yeah, he didn't do that. Or he knowingly used the wrong words. It was one or the other. What? You have the capability to do this job correctly. Librarians. You have the capability to protect children. You're when you protest this much, it makes me think you want to harm children.
And you when you protest this much. Jake Tapper it makes me think you want to get away with this junk. Yeah, well, and I guess that's my question. Does Jake Tapper think that people like George Stephanopoulos can lie about Donald Trump with impunity multiple times during the course of it? A dozen times in this case, without without any ramification, without consequence?
I mean, what is Jake Tapper arguing for? Let me just play the clip here. This is the tail end of Trump's comments. And then Jake Tapper, his commentary. Wonderful, accurate and highly professional reporting on the Russia Russia, Russia hoax. We don't have time to go into all of that. But but just to touch base on a couple, there's one of them is the people of Iowa, the Des Moines Register.
That's because there was a poll and that was that was inaccurate. The one on 60 minutes is because they didn't like the editing that had been done to stop. No, it wasn't because they didn't like the editing. It's because the editing was deliberately false and deceptive. Jake, this is he frustrates me so bad sometimes he's fine, but but the way he mischaracterized his things is infuriating because he's deliberately missing the key point of why something is in the news right now.
Look, editing can be criminal, too. They've done this with with, Trump, Jake Tapper being one who will leave off the full context or explanation of Charlottesville. Yes. Okay. I can call that quote unquote editing. You are purposely being deceitful when you do that. Yes. Yeah. Here's the rest of his thoughts. Kamala Harris yeah, I mean, this is this is wildly ridiculous.
Well, one of the things to keep in mind here is that Donald Trump feels like he won, I mean, this weekend by having a settlement with ABC, one that many people did not think was going to come to fruition. They thought that this would end up in court, or that it would certainly not be a settlement in which ABC paid $16 million and issued a public apology, which was part of this has been, a situation which has empowered and emboldened Donald Trump.
Okay. She started that sentence by, well, Donald Trump thinks he won. He did. Yeah. Did she actually say that? Yes. I gotta hear that again. Yeah. He won. This is this is wildly ridiculous. Well, one of the things to keep in mind here is that Donald Trump feels like you want. I mean, what if it's all Trump feels like he wants?
He feels like he won because he won. Who did he say feels like he won Donald Trump? Well, one of the things to keep in mind here is that Donald Trump feels like he won. I mean, this week okay. Is she saying he feels like he won this case against ABC even though it was a settlement? Is she talking about the election or is she talking about this settlement with ABC?
I'm sure she's talking about the settlement with ABC, but guess what? I still feel like you won when you walk away with $16 million. You've won. Yeah, yeah. Maybe she is is going to parse out some words here. Yeah. You win. You lost. He won. Yes. When, when one side is deleting their Twitter account and writing a check for $15 million.
We know who the winner is and we know who the loser is, so. Yeah. Okay, well, he feels like he won. So now he's emboldened. Yeah. Yeah he does. That's exactly what happened. Yeah. This is yes, I, I don't have any proof. The media here's the problem. The media spent all their political capital anyway. If if this was a real threat, they no longer have the influence to actually warn us about it because they have lied to us so repeatedly that they don't have that standing with the public anymore.
Yeah. Yeah, well, they've lied to us repeatedly and to back up the question you asked me, well, does she feel like Donald Trump won the election or the case because it was a settlement? Well, guess what reality is he won both. Yeah, because it was an overwhelming response by Americans that they want Donald Trump to run the show.
Yes. So I hate to break it to you. Whatever. You think he lost somewhere? He didn't know. He didn't. He won. He keeps on winning and winning. And when did you see that? The the judge will not completely dismiss this stuff with with Trump. Yeah. That poor judge is a slow learner. Yeah. He is. He really is.
All right. We're going to break but we'll come back. It's 937 on a Tuesday edition of The Neal Larsen Show. If you'd like to reach us on the fall River propane call and text line, here's the number (208) 542-1079. Oh, hey, Glades pointing out he can see your Pepsi Zero in the shot and he can't figure out what you're drinking nowadays because it's all over the place.
You know, here I, I just have to change it up once in a while, like, I, I bet I drink Diet Mountain Dew 80% of the time. I would say that too, but on occasion I just change it up a little. I've heard people say, I don't know if it's true or not, that the colorings in Mountain Dew are bad for you.
Like there's a problem with the RFK junior thinks that is for certain. Okay, let let me ask you about that, because RFK junior wants to get rid of all these artificial dyes in food. How do you feel about that? I'm fine with it. I'm fine with it, too. Like, I don't need my fruit leather to be vibrant.
Vibrant red. I need it to be fruit leather like that's what I need. Okay Tony. So yeah, the kids will get over it. Their food won't be as vibrant. They'll get over it. So speaking of that, Pepsi Glade, I, I left the room and I said, I'm going to go get another can of caffeine. And you know how Julie responded to me?
She went, okay, all right. Okay. The head didn't do that. Okay. Head didn't go down. Okay. There might have been a slight edge of disapproval, but it didn't stop me from getting my cold caffeine. I don't even think there was disapproval. Maybe it's just my attitude today. Yeah, yeah, I agree Jeff, he says Diet Mountain Dew is so gross.
Can I get an amen from the congregation? Oh, you know, you know why I drink, Damien do? Because I like it, actually. But I'm not willing to go to fisticuffs, for it. But I will say, if you were to take regular soda and compare it to the taste of its diet counterpart, Diet Mountain Dew tastes the closest to Mountain Dew than any other pairing like Diet Coke.
Tastes very little like actual Coke. Diet Doctor Pepper's close, but not quite at the risk of losing listeners. Yeah, diet Coke is the worst diet soda out there. You don't like Taco? Oh, it's so bitter. You think, it tastes really bitter in my mouth? I don't mind it. I don't want to take away from your happiness of going and getting a Diet Coke every day.
So if you're that person who does, more power to you, I just. For me, Diet Coke is a no go. Yeah, like a Diet Pepsi with a lemon in it. That's okay. Not awesome. It's okay. You know, I do like a Diet Coke from McDonald's. Like, if you go through the drive thru and get a large Diet Coke, like, that's Diet Coke, change yours, say it's the best.
It's the best Diet Coke out there. Still doing that for a buck. Can you still get the large E? I think they changed it. I think they may have up the price. I don't know, I don't know I don't know. You can sign me up for doctor Pepper. Just about any of, doctor Pepper, zero regular diet doctor Pepper is my favorite.
Not a big fan of the flavorings. Like the cherry is okay, because that doctor Pepper already has a cherry flavor to it. I'm not a big fan of the cream soda or the. Yeah, okay. Question. If you go to like Maverick or whatever and you get a diet soda, but you add lime or vanilla or whatever, does that add calories?
Are there calories in the flavorings? I don't know, because I don't do it there, so I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. I wouldn't add them just simply because I'm not going to drink my calories, but I don't know if they're sugar free or not. Yeah, I don't know. I'm doing really good. I'm going days and days between sodas.
Yeah. You don't have it very often. Yeah. Days and days. And then I I'll get one or something. But I'm excited to see your new glasses. Nail went to a doctor's appointment. They should arrive here in a couple of days. How much had your prescription changed? Not a ton. Still pretty close. I most like I can still see okay with the glasses I have.
In fact, one measurement got a little better and one got a little bit worse, but not. It's been, what, two years since I've had a an eye exam and it was just getting close to the end of the year. And I'm like, I yeah, there's a good benefit. I need to use it. My existing glasses serve had a little scratch on the lens and I still keep in there.
Still good enough. I could use a little pinch. That'll be a backup pair for me. So here we go. This 943 and Newstalk 179. It's Neal Larsen and Julie Mason if you'd like to reach us (208) 542-1079 we're talking about the drones. We're talking about canon, duh. And Trudeau may be on his last little stretch as prime minister as the tide has turned against him.
We're talking about the weather. Should we do a really quick, road condition update here, Julie? Sure. Okay. I'm still seeing lots of, yellow, which means no report, but the yellow is surrounded by a lot of purple, so I'm assuming a lot of those roads are not great. It looks like I-15 in between, income and all the way to about Shelly is pretty good.
So I think most of that is is cleared off. But you get north of that point and there's there's some difficult driving conditions. Highway 26 out toward really difficult I-15 north of Idaho Falls all the way to the Montana line. Difficult highway 20 from Idaho Falls to about a half way to Arco. Difficult as well. So,
Yeah, just wherever you're going. Careful. All right. Don't slam your brakes too hard. Not a good idea. Don't swerve. Yeah. Don't swerve. Yeah, unless. Never mind. Don't swerve. So we have that. We. I think I'm done talking about Ketanji Brown Jackson's little appearance on Broadway. I'm good with being done. One thing we didn't play, was Ted Cruz.
Let's play that. Let's play that one. Trying to get a yes or no? I'm not trying to get get a speech. Is there a difference between women and men? I think that there are definitions for biological sex. So you're not asking friends. Let me ask you this question. Then. Why do women's sports exist? If you can't define a difference between women and men, why not abolish women's sports and just tell little girls to swim with little boys and see who wins?
Oh, I'm simply saying that, that's my question then. Gender, why do you think women have a great value? I mean, Senator, I'll tell you, Mr. Robinson, please answer the question I'm asking you. Absolutely. Why do women's sports exist? I think that there are so many positive benefits to sports, but why have a separate category for women if if there's no difference between women and men?
Why? To have women's sports? I'm saying that there's a difference between sex and gender, and that the NCAA has rules in place, which they have for the last decade. And I would like to end earlier an article from Duke, Duke Law called comparing athletic performances for the best elite women to Boys and Men, and it goes through examining in 2017, the top records for women in the world in various track and field events.
So, for example, in the 100 meter, the top record for women in the world was 10.71 seconds. Now that record for the number one woman in the world in 2017 was in the year 2017, broken by 124 boys under 18. In that same year, the record for the number one competing woman in the hundred yard 100 meter dash in the world was broken by a total of 2474 men.
Wow. Okay. And a clip. Okay. I love she kind of digs her own hole there when she says, well, I'm talking about a difference between sex and gender. Okay, well, that's what it is biologically is the sex of these these men. Yeah. No matter what gender they choose. And get them out of women's sports. Yes. That's it. Yeah.
You're you're the one who just laid it out, lady that you're talking about a difference between sex and gender. Great I we agree. Yeah. So if your biological sex is you're a man. Get out. Yeah. Sports then should be sex based because it's a it's a physical activity. You're pitting bodies against bodies if you want to put it like that.
So, Yeah. And I've always felt like this is just such common sense. But you know what I really like about this when we talk about the overall cultural battles. Julie, I like this ideology still being part of the Democrat Party that they feel like they have to defend, because the more they do that, the more we win, the more it helps Trump, the more we, increase our chances of maintaining the majority in both houses of Congress and there's all sorts of cascading positive effects from that, which I hate the ideology because it is very unfair to women and girls.
But if we're going to look at the silver lining of having to have these ridiculous garbage ideologies being perpetrated, it's that if the Democrat Party decides they want to continue to bear that burden like a cyst, like a like a tumor, then so be it. They can they can live with those ridiculous consequences, because the majority of the American public has decided they're not going to buy into it.
Yeah, we learned a lot from the election and what mattered to people, the ads that played best for Trump. And that is one thing that we learned that a majority of Americans aren't buying into this at all. No, they think the pronouns are ludicrous. They think that these bottom surgeries are horrific and the narrative is falling apart. You do not even have to go looking very far.
You can you can make a simple search on the internet and you will find the Reddit feed. You will find the X feed. You will find not just one multiple feeds of people who have had bottom surgery that are so frustrated. Yeah, and how horrible it is. And that their lifestyles are not what they were promised. And the narrative is falling apart.
And go ahead, keep dying on the hill, you know. And it does make you wonder this is the this is the dilemma that the Democrat Party finds themselves in to figure out how do they strive to be a viable political party without shedding themselves of this most fringe wing of their, of their party. Where they can't Democrats cannot come out and publicly say you have a few but not formerly, not at large.
Can the Democrats come out and divorce themselves from these ideologies because they're too entrenched in it. Now there are two on record being in favor of it. So they're really they're really hamstringing themselves. And I, I look at it and I'm thinking, okay, well, let's, let's make the most of it. I like that Ted Cruz. In fact, if I were Republican in charge of either the House or the Senate, I would continue to bring these people on Capitol Hill, let them be grilled, let them be questioned, let them try to defend that ideology, because it really is a millstone around the neck of the Democrat Party.
And the more exposure there is, this is, I mean, the, the, the feeds that I'm talking about that are talking about these transgender surgeries, they're horrific to read. They're horrible. It's like kind of stomach turning to read them. Yeah. But that needs to happen. Yeah. That kind of stuff needs published so that people understand what is happening here.
We're we're having multiple studies come out now talking about the, damages that these, puberty blockers are doing. Do you remember the narrative just three simple years ago? Oh, it's like a pause button. It's a pause button. It's a pause button. You can you can jump right back into your regular biological, occurrences. No, you can't.
And we knew it. Then, but they were lying about it. Yeah. So the more that you talk about it and the more I believe what you're saying, bring them forward and make them testify to it, the more holes you see in their case. Yeah, yeah. And and you know what? There can only be a good outcome either. The outcome is Democrats keep losing or the outcome is Democrats eventually join you and push this garbage to the far fringe of of societal thought.
And that either way, it's a win for conservatives and and for Republicans. Yeah. Like there's only a good outcome in lots of these scenarios. The threads that I talk about that are kind of stomach turning. What's the good outcome there? Stop somebody from doing the surgery. Yeah, that's the outcome. Like you have to know what's going to happen to your body if you do that.
As these studies come forward about the puberty blockers, what's the outcome? A good one, yeah. Because people now know, oh it's not a pause button. So the shedding more light on these issues it's only a win. Do you feel Julie. Like well I will just tell you I, I'm actually kind of proud of Republicans and conservatives for finally taking a stand on these social, these cultural, social issues.
For the longest time, we tried to be polite. We conceded so much ground over the last 15 years. And I think finally when they came along and said, you know what? We're going to snatch away your little girl's chances of winning the trophy and the championships and fairness on the court. That was the bright red line where a lot of Republicans said, we won't go there.
And this is this is the Hill that we will die on. But what we found out, this is the hill that we didn't die on. We're winning on it. This is a hill we're winning. And I feel like in retrospect, we gave up too easily on some of these other cultural battles that we had. Yeah, they're already fought and lost.
But you look at gay marriage or you look at marijuana legalization, or you look at a number of others that we have battled over the last few years. It makes you wonder, should we have fought harder to maintain the culture through those battles? Yeah. I'm going to go back to the library. Porn bill. I mentioned it already in these conversations, but that was one we shouldn't have given up on and we didn't.
Yeah, it mattered that much. And we had people say, what is wrong with, you know what? What is wrong with you? Yeah. Little kids shouldn't be viewing porn. Go back. Go right back at them, I love that. All right, well, break, for a bit and come back and wrap it up after this, okay? Oh, gee. And, we're going to come back with 20s left.
Anything we need to get in? Now. Okay. So. Oh, seven minutes ago, Daily Wire said, Derek Chauvin's legal team is allowed to avenue. An avenue for appeal will examine George Floyd's heart issue. There's conversation now that George Floyd was not dead until much later at the hospital. Oh, really? And that if that's the case, then why they need to look and see what was going on in his body that made that happen.
So maybe not directly tie Chauvin to the. Looks like we're gonna have both senators this week. Oh good. Yep. Oh no. She just canceled. Which one? Crapo or Risch? Crapo canceled. Risch is still on, man. I just thought because I'm in I'm in the other oh, gosh. Oh that's right. So you I didn't see it just now.
What the. Oh. What get. Okay. This will be bonus content. Okay. I'm not going to tell you anything except there's a new Taco Bell menu item. Oh, I saw this on East Idaho News. I won't look at it. I just saw the headline. Okay. You did? Yeah, I won't, I won't read it. Okay, I it's a weird.
Okay. Well, I will hold off. Okay. It's making me wonder about something. I took it in the, PowerShell. Can we talk about these community groups for just a second on Facebook? What about them? There's a couple of behavior issues in these community groups. I just am shaking my head at. Yeah, I, I really fast, simple one.
Why did you take the time to type it out in the community group and then wait for answers from people when a simple Google search would have told, you know, the answer? Yeah, I think that screams a lot about the person's personal life. Needs attention. Needs. Yes, yes, you need to get some humans in your life, not people in a community group.
If I called up the radio show and said, I googled your number to call you because I'm curious what time the sunset is tonight. Yes. It's like that level of, yeah, here we go.
Okay, final word here. Please be safe. We do have some difficult traveling conditions today with all the snow and the storm we received overnight. Julian, I will be back tomorrow right here on Newstalk 1079.
