Hello, East Idaho, and welcome to this Tuesday edition of the program. It's good to have you with us. And if you'd like to reach us via text, the fall River propane Kotlin text line is 2085421079I. I have to tell you, just talking with Julie a few minutes ago, there's like a void and I. This has happened to me a few times where when there's, there's big things happening and there's a months long lead up to the big things happening.
And the pandemic would be a good example for big elections. That's another example. And of course, we rightly so. Spend lots and lots of time on the election in Idaho specifically, we spent a lot of time talking about prop one because that was one of the most consequential, potentially consequential things on the ballot. It still is. I'll explain that in a moment.
But when it when that event comes and goes, you sort of feel this vacuum. And I've noticed this is a phenomenon that's not exclusive to this radio show. The biggest stories in the media today are actually not even really story. It's it's are an argument on the view. There's there was yelling back and forth on the view. That's a story which is so weird to me.
The fact that Joe and Mika went to Mar-A-Lago and met for an hour and a half with Trump is a story, but it's really not. It's not going to impact your day to day life. You're you know what? You pay at the gas pump or the grocery store. It just didn't impact you. So there is this void where we're at.
And don't get me wrong, there is a lot that's happening. I think we're all kind of on World War Three watch right now, but it feels like we always have been for the last few years, that there's always been these hot spots in in the world that in a matter of hours or short number of days could turn into a global conflict.
And right now, the brink of war is happening in Ukraine, where massive drone attacks from Russia, the Biden administration gave the green light to Ukraine to launch long range missiles into the interior of Russia. And so you look other you got a few ingredients of war here. And guess what? We still have two months of a dementia ridden old man week, by the way, as our president.
So you see these windows of danger that we're in right now. That's a big story. But I don't know how much time we devote to it. We just watch it, we keep an eye on it. And I'm fearful that we could wake up and the whole world has changed. Now, I do believe that when Donald Trump is the president and he can act in his full capacity as the president of the United States and as the commander in chief, there will be a much reduced level of danger in the world.
So I do look forward to that. But I'm just telling you, I guess this is a moment of me just being a little candid with you, a little real. There's there's sort of this void and it's not really a let down. It's just, a now what sense? Because I really don't want to talk about the ladies on The View arguing and bickering over politics.
All right, let's do that. Why, why why does that. And we already talked about it this morning earlier. And I think there was that moment of self-awareness of why am I letting that take up my time? By the way, Whoopi had a perfect opportunity and I think she's botched it now. She should have gone back to that number one.
She should have come on the air and said, I misread a situation and I'm very sorry. During an election as contentious as this one was, we get in fight or flight mode, and I attributed a motive to this bakery that was inaccurate. And I'm very sorry. And by the way, we've bought from that bakery a cake for everyone in the live studio audience.
Warm, fuzzy controversy over here. But now it's like they dig in and they become entrenched. But I think the moment is past. What we didn't say a single word about. That. So you have that, you have, you know, you have Mika and Joe who flew down to Mar-A-Lago, met with Trump for a while, and the whole world has come apart inside MSNBC.
It's so weird. I look at this and you hear these stories of the staffers at MSNBC having a complete losing of their minds because of this, that they're normalizing Trump. And we on the right have had a very good, almost comedic time pointing out, is he Hitler or or is he a guy you want to fly down to Mar-A-Lago and establish a relationship with?
Like which is it, Joe and Mika? You know, you gotta you gotta figure it out. And on that front, Nikki Haley, not always a big fan of Nikki Haley, however, she had a pretty good take on it. Mika Brzezinski and Jacob tore me up when I said anything about voting for Donald Trump or what? I know I criticized him when I thought he was wrong.
I praised him when I thought he was good. They tore me up. But the truth is, it's not that they suddenly saw the light, it's they saw the ratings right? I mean, let's be clear, they saw the ratings tank and they realized, oh, we better get on with Donald Trump or else we're not going to have a show, okay?
She is spot on right there. That's exactly it. And the only thing that Joe and Mika care about is keeping their careers going. That's it. That's it. They will say what they need to say in whatever context in order to keep doing that. And now there's an internal rebellion at MSNBC against Joe and Mika, which let me ask you this question, and I'll go back.
It's the same thought process I just applied to The View. Is your life going to be markedly different? Whether Joe and Mika are on the air in the mornings or not? No. I can state, even if you think the answer is yes, the answer is no. It's it's I will answer it for you. No, it won't matter. But it's the soap opera.
It's the thing that we, get, get drawn into, because of of what happened. So you have that we have. And I think this is more substantive when we talk about elections, this drama that is happening in Pennsylvania, you have, what, three, four counties, something like that, where despite the law, you have the elections officials in those counties counting clearly illegal ballots.
There's no ambiguity here. They're counting ballots. And they're stating every vote needs to be counted. Now, when I come to you and in any other context, and let's say you're at the mall and I walk up to you and I say, every vote should be counted, right? You'd go right. That's a great point because it just sounds good.
I'm here to tell you, no, no, not every vote should be counted. Period. No, not every vote should be counted. Exclamation mark. I'll say it with emphasis. Not every vote should be counted. Let that sink in. Roll the tape as Joe Scarborough would say, every legal vote should be counted. Every verified or verifiable vote should be counted. Legitimate.
Verifiable vote. Every legitimate legal vote should be counted. But you have this situation where the left wants to count the illegal votes, too, because they're having heartburn over Bob Casey losing his seat over the Democrat. Maybe not Bob Casey, but the Democrats losing that seat in in Pennsylvania. And they will do anything where and we're seeing some of it now.
I saw a story earlier about the meltdown that Kamala supporters, Trump haters, Democrats, they're all melting down because they're trying to deal with Donald Trump being the president for the next four years. We had this story last week, and it's probably spilling over into this week about, all these women who have shaved their heads and vowed that they're not having sex.
They're they're and I there's a lot of retorts to that I won't make, but, they are vowing that they are shaving. Do you remember when Britney Spears went off the deep end? What did she do? She shaved her head. What is that? Now, keep in mind, I shaved my head, but I didn't do it as a result of a mental breakdown, people with full heads of hair will shave their head when they have a mental breakdown.
And I'm not trying to make light of it at all. Honestly, I'm not. But I just noticed something that is something that seems to happen that in some cases, a mental breakdown will cause people to shave their heads. Why someone, someone who might be in a mental health field? Just text me. I'm curious. (208)Â 542-1279 why do people shave their heads when they have mental breakdowns?
Sometimes that just seems like a weird thing, but there's some commonality there. Britney Spears shaved her head. These women I know of, other situations I won't mention where people are like, I, I've hair, I'm shaving my head. Is it an attention getting plea? Like, because that's such a dramatically different look, if people started out with a full head of hair, I don't know what that is, but I think what it speaks to and the the productive takeaway that we can have watching these people lose their ever loving minds and hair is that the addictiveness of political power when you are in power, it is intoxicating, and it is very instructive in my mind to see
what happens when people lose power that they feel entitled to or have become entitled to. They do crazy, whacked out, bizarre things, and you have to remember something. And I say this with respect and with some level of seriousness, but but it might sound like I'm being over-the-top, and I'm not. For people on the left who don't really have a strong attachment to traditional religion, who don't believe in God or or the traditional idea of God, they they put something in that place where most of us believe in God, we believe in Jesus, or we believe in Allah or whatever.
That that need still exists in their brain and they put something there. And for many people, especially progressives on the left, the thing that they put in there is government, government that they want to be omniscient, they want to be omnipotent. They want a government that has a, an unlimited amount of power to, quote unquote, do good to save the planet.
Think about all of the corollaries there are to the global progressive movement. And, God, you're saving mankind. They have a clergy. They have a structure. They have doctrines. All the it looks way too much like religion for there not to be. And now imagine if I came to you and said, I'm taking your religion away. You don't get to believe what you believe anymore, or that thing you've become accustomed to indulging in from a religious standpoint, I and maybe I should say it like this.
Imagine if the the health of your religious life was subject to an event every four years, or every even two years. In some cases, you might shave your head too. You might go out and wail in the streets as well. You might get on social media and create videos that you could later regret, or that might pose a problem with future employment.
I you know, I don't I don't know, I don't profess to know, but I, I think about, you know, how important faith is to so many people. And if government is your religion and a political ideology is your dogma and your agenda is your doctrine, when that gets fouled up, it may be that's why they have such an identity crisis.
It is that deeply embedded in them. And their virtue is so deeply rooted in that, that they do become almost not just depressed, but but crazy. Like there's a craziness that happens. All right. It's 822 on Newstalk 1079. If you'd like to join us on the program. (208)Â 542-1007 nine is the number to call back after this. Eight 27 hour Newstalk 10792 you sent me a a tweet that, winds the winds.
The tell her no. Yeah. If they watch the UFC fight, they or the excuse me the boxing match, they saw it. So it's a picture of two loaves of bread side by side from the from the top down. And then someone retweeted that and said, that's Mike Tyson.
And if you watched the interview with Mike Tyson, you know, exactly. It's it was such a weird interview because it was his son that was interviewing him. Right? I think so, yeah. And he reaches the interview ends. Netflix doesn't cut away. He reaches over, kisses his son on the cheek. Yeah. And then turns around and walks away and you see his completely bare rear end.
Right. It just. Yeah, that's what it was. That's what it was. So anyway, very, very funny tweet I needed that laugh. So thank you for sending it. You're welcome Joe okay. If you'd like to join us (208)Â 542-1078 okay, I learned a little something and two separate because I thought, okay, Britney Spears shaved her head when she kind of lost control.
I've known of other people that have shaved their head when they lose control. You know, I have a shaved head. I'm not talking about myself, okay? I shaved it because, you know, my hair's getting thin. Whatever. And it's very low maintenance, right? You have a lot of things you want to say right now, so keep going. And of course, you have these women who wanted Kamala to win.
They hate Donald Trump. They have shaved their heads as well. Now, when you start to see commonality here, you're going, okay, what is this? What is this common strain here where people shave their heads? Well, I threw it out there during the monologue, and a couple of different people said, that's one of the few things they can control.
So when they feel like the external world is beyond their control and it's something they don't like, then they turn to something they can control. And apparently shaving your own head is something you can control, so it gives them a sense of control. Yeah, I would totally agree with that. Yeah, I think I think that there's a lot of ways that people feel trapped or backed into a corner, and if they shave their head, they got to determine it.
It's not just shaving head. This is kind of a woman thing. They do it. They'll, you know, every six months, go to their stylist and say, I need something different. Give me on streaks or yes, we're going to cut it off. We're doing an A-line Bob. Or you know, I have no idea what you just said, but. I've never heard of an A-line bob before, but I'll I'll take I'll.
It's a whole lot different than an A-line, Paul. Or an A line. Mark. What what's my haircut here? It's a shaved head. Okay? It's not a beeline. It's not a beeline bill or anything, like, it's like I don't.
Okay. Yeah. All right, well, we have talked about that during the commercial break. An A-line Bob. That's. Yeah. A-line is when it's higher in the back and longer in the front. Very gradual because it looks like the letter A. Yes. So it's higher in the back and gradually gets longer towards the chin. And it's above a bob would be right under the chin.
Okay. Gotcha. Okay. That that I know again get I he just needed to explain to me. Yeah. We'll go over curtain bangs during the. Okay. Don't throw these things at curtain bangs I think I can guess with that one. What are curtain bangs. They're just the bangs that come straight down probably a little bit lower toward your I know the the appropriate word would be curtain fringe.
We're not supposed to say bangs. It's supposed to be fringe. Okay. And it would be like swoopy drapes, like, swoop over. So you still see part of your forehead. Okay. But you do have these longer fringe pieces that look like curtains kind of brushing your eyebrows and your sides of your head. I haven't been able to do that since I was 15, so I never did it when I was.
But anyway. Okay, someone texted in, but thanks for that. How much for a b line? Bill? I might need one of those. We just invented a brand new haircut. An A-line Bob. But a beeline bill. Yeah, okay. That's good. You sent me a clip of Tom home and Julie. Okay. You want to listen to him?
Yeah. Let's listen to this, because you got this Democrat mayors in Arizona. Is that where it is? Boston mayor. Excuse me, Michelle woo. And, she's resisting the deportation intentions of Donald Trump, defending our residents every possible way. Well, she's not very smart. I'll give her that, because I just what I just said is President Trump's going to prioritize public safety threats.
What mayor or governor doesn't want public safety threats? Other communities. Mantra number one is possibilities to protect your communities. And that's exactly what we're going to do. So if she helps us, she gets the hell out of the way because they're going to do it. And there's a clear line here and they can't cross clear line. I would suggest she read title eight, United States Code 1324 to apply that says, do you know you can't harbor conceal illegal aliens in front of law enforcement hours?
So I hope you don't cross that line. They can not cooperate, but there are certain laws in place that they can't cross. I hope she doesn't cross it, but okay that's a there's a threat in there. Look you're not going to be very smart if you try to get in our way of enforcing the law here. The other thing that you could possibly do I this doesn't solve the problem.
This is just being chirpy. But if the Boston mayor is insisting upon this, you gather up all the people in, let's say Virginia, where it's being more welcome. We appreciate it. Yeah. You just drive them north and dump them in Boston. If you want to be a sanctuary city, let's make you be a sanctuary city. Yeah. You got to do it then.
Yeah. You know that probably could end the problem. It would probably end the problem of Michelle. Yeah. Woo the mayor. Yeah. Because she couldn't handle it after a few weeks. Yeah. That's that's that's true. So I actually think Tom Homan is like no we'll go in there. We and it sounds like Trump is ready to declare this a national emergency, which means he could use U.S. troops to go in and find illegals and and deport them.
That may be what this takes. How do you feel about that? I think we're at that point. We're at a breaking point. The Biden administration has harmed the country enough that we've got to do it. I, I know I'm I'm much deeper into true crime than a lot of people. But if you have listened to any of the testimony that happened in the Lincoln Riley case yesterday, that's the.
Yeah. Nursing student out of Georgia that was killed. She they took the data off of her watch. Yeah. She fought him for 18 minutes and fought vigorously. I read, yeah, fought him for 18 minutes, and he killed her anyway. And then it was discovered in the trial yesterday that he was given the option via this app and this program that the Biden-Harris administration implemented to choose whatever city he wanted to go to.
And they flew him there. He didn't have to cover a single dime of it. Wow. They flew him to Georgia all on our taxpayer dollars. But but you have Sunny Hostin, who thinks it's racism and misogyny that led to people not wanting to continue that nonsense. Right? Right. Or that I'm not supposed to have some sort of I'm only supposed to have, empathy or sympathy for the people.
You want me to have sympathy for. Sunny Hostin, I am. I'm not supposed to have sympathy for, Lincoln Riley's family at all. Yeah. Yeah, that. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, that, I think is a situation where their hypocrisy is laid bare. It is openly naked hypocrisy on their part, so. Well. And Donald Trump's going to be the president come January 20th.
So yeah. And Tom Homan serious. Yeah. They are serious. I mean what what I, I don't look forward to it. But I'm anticipating that the media will take the optics of our American military tracking down these illegals, sending them back home. And they're going to here's the problem. They gotta get this exactly right, or else the media will miss portray if someone if they have to manhandle someone, or if someone gets hurt because they're resisting whatever, then the media will spin this up into a massive injustice and they'll make it look like it's Nazi Germany and they're rounding up the Jews.
That's the field that they're going to want to give to this. Absolutely. And they've done it before. So yeah, this isn't something we're making up here. Brace yourself for it. Yeah. They've done it before. And all I have to do is point you back to the border agents that were on horses, and those men got suspended for their jobs.
What was at nine, ten months, something like, while they investigated whether or not they had whipped immigrants. And it all came back and there was no whipping of immigrants at all. And these people were illegally crossing, and the border agents had all the rights to follow them on horses. But somehow the border agents were the bad guys. So you do you feel, though, because I feel like that was in the height of snowflake ism, wokeism cancel culture, all of that.
I feel like we're more resilient now and and people are more willing to, to not to put up with what it's going to take to get things right again. I think we are more resilient now. We're not so let around by the nose, but I would also warn they've got to do it exactly right. Yeah, yeah they do.
They're they're going to and they're going to hopefully they'll be smart enough. But you know what I don't think Homan cares. I think he's like, this is the law. They got to go back to their, their home country. And we're going to, we're going to make sure they get back there. And you might think that's ugly and you might not like it, but we're going to we're going to do it right.
And the good thing about this Donald Trump doesn't have to worry about getting reelected. No. And if he changes the country for the better people will remember that. Yeah. Yeah. If you can all of a sudden afford a home in two years people will remember that. Yeah. Yeah it will. Okay. You, you sent that
And Tom home is great. It was good. It was a good pick. Like it's. You needed someone who took that. The thought of borders are seriously. Yeah. And this man does. Yeah. And here's another one. Kamala Harris and the national Democrat primary. You sent a list of. Oh, she got 41%. Yeah. So this isn't a poll that was taken.
Yeah. I mean, obviously we're four years out, but they're looking at the 2028 National Democrat primary. So who would Democrats at this point want to be put up to be their next president in 2028? This I sent this to you because this shows you how pathetic their benches. Yeah. Go right ahead and run Kamala Harris again in 2028.
Go right ahead A yes. Okay. What what is your your I mean yes I hope they do. I hope they do. Well the really sad thing is Gavin Newsom's their superstar or Josh Shapiro is their superstar. Those are the two that we we've talked about the two potentials. Yeah. They got does that say 9% and 7%.
Eight and seven eight and 7%. Yeah okay. Two things I mean Kamala nominee Kamala Harris is a still a very bright concept in people's minds. So I think she's probably just going to have the edge naturally in a poll like this lately. But I hear I'll make this prediction. Kamala Harris will not return and we will see very little of her ever again.
Yeah, I don't think this ever comes to fruition for these people. She'll pop up here and there. She'll probably read a book because she's got to make some money somehow. I know there was talk of her going back to California. I don't think California would. Electors, governor, if they have a good option to it. Look at what she did.
The DNC is now bankrupt. They're having to fire staffers. She overspent by 20 million or her own campaign's $20 million in debt. And it was $1 billion campaign. Yeah. How do you not have enough money? You had $1 billion. There's also this. And I don't know if it's technically corruption by legal standards, but when you're paying Oprah 2.5 million to host a town hall or excuse me, her production company and these other pundits, are got big, big payoffs to interview her.
It starts to feel like that's just money laundering. The Democrats are gonna have a hard time raising money in the future because of the way Kamala Harris was spending money in her own campaign. They're like, I'm not going to write out $1,000 check just so it can go into Oprah's already massive bank account. Who would do that? I, I wouldn't, and you have businesses that chose not to support her after some point because they could see the Titanic.
Yeah. You. Yeah. The iceberg was coming on November 5th. They could see it. Also you you've also hurt some of your grassroots efforts because she employed dozens of people on her campaign. They had promised they would pay those people through the remainder of the year. They they cut him loose. There is no payments. So that means there's no money.
There's no money. And those people were cut loose and they will not have paychecks in November and December. Oh my. Meanwhile, Julie, we made thousands from the prop one people high five. We did good. Keep spending your money. I don't mean to rub it in or anything. Okay, well, let's take a break. It's 842 on Newstalk 179. The News just ahead.
847 Newstalk 178 Neal Larson, along with Julie Mason. And if you'd like to reach us, the number (208)Â 542-1079. We'd love to hear from you. So there is a hearing today, Julie, on Capitol Hill, about FEMA. Of course, they're accused of politicizing hurricane relief. Apparently they were told the on the ground FEMA people were told Skip the homes that have Trump signs.
Now, I think their excuse is going to be because those people are hostile to the federal government. And we were looking out for ours. I don't buy that crap at all. Not at all. Now, they may have had an instance here and there, but simply having a Trump sign on your house or in your front yard is, is not an indication that you're going to be a danger to a federal employee.
Also, I that's not your job to determine, right? Based upon a sign I e the UPS guy doesn't get to not deliver packages to houses that have dogs. Yes, that's the job is still to deliver the packages. Yeah. FEMA doesn't get to decide that they're not going to visit houses with Trump signs. Yeah. That right. Right. Exactly. And and so what's fascinating is you had the one FEMA employee, they threw her under the bus, but she's not staying quiet.
She said it. It wasn't just me. This came from above. And this was in other states too, that this was happening where Trump supporters were being skipped over by FEMA. Is she testifying today? I don't know if she is or not, but there is someone the last name Criswell, that is is testifying. Testifying right now. I don't have audio of it right now, but.
Well, we may pop in and listen to a little bit of, here coming up, but I'll be glad when all this is over. I you never know what you can believe, but there are still videos circulating that there are tent cities still in existence in these places where the flooding was so bad and it was very, very rural.
Yeah. And they have still received no help. Still nothing. That's not acceptable, right? Are there? I mean, on a state level, are they getting any kind of support? I don't know, like I said, these are just videos that are coming out showing what these people are living like. I think that some of them refuse to leave their land.
Okay. Nervousness. Sure, I get it. Yeah I understand, yeah. Yeah, I got it. All right. Well, maybe we'll find out a little more, but, so we had that, do we want to play the Megan Kelly quick clip? Sure. You sound so you know how I feel about the news cycle today. I know it's it's wonky.
Yeah. All right. Well, this is Kelly. I had to edit a couple it. Yeah. Potty words out of this. But she wasn't real happy with Mika and Joe's flip flop. Take on Trump. But I want to talk about this train wreck of an international. Well that's that's that's a different Megan Kelly named Kayleigh McEnany. Here's the real Megan Kelly.
As for us, we also let him know that we will continue to speak truth to power and push back hard when called for, as we have with all presidents. Don't be mistaken. We're not here to defend or normalize Donald Trump. We're here to report on him. Here it comes. I searched for a way to respond appropriately, and I called on my ten years as a litigator in addition to my now 20 as a journalist.
And I think I found the perfect phrase, go yourselves, go yourselves, you dishonest jokes of faux journalists. What an absurd farce that was, Glenn. They which which one was insincere? He's Hitler, or now we're going to speak truth to power and find a way of speaking to and working with Donald Trump. Which one was a lie? Okay, she's talking to Glenn Greenwald, but he and he just went on to make the point, I think that that Nikki Haley made, which is there just this is just professional survival for them.
They're they're looking at it going, okay. It was a terrible miscalculation to be to take the Trump is Hitler tack. Nobody's watching us anymore because every nobody believes that Trump really is Hitler. And so now they're now they're changing their strategy to keep their brand alive. How did I not recognize that? He said that phrase yesterday because we played this clip yesterday morning between Mika and Joe.
How did I not remember that? He said, we're not normalizing Trump. What does that even mean? What? America normalized Trump. He is a human being who has been a president for four previous years, and he will be your president for the next four years. There is no normalizing. Well, no, there's not. And and if if we use that term liberally or generously, 76 million Americans normalize Trump.
They said we want him to be the president. Okay. It's not up to Joe and Mika or anybody else in the media to normalize Trump. That's why we have elections every four years. Yeah. Your job is to report your job is not to stand there and hold your nose and make sure everyone knows you think you're better than everyone else.
Yeah. So I can I can relate with Megan Kelly's sentiments, I get it. I wouldn't have said it that way. No, I understand it. No. Yeah, it's it's, We just get tired of them. How presumptuous is it, truly, for someone to come along and think that they have the power to either normalize Trump or not normalize Trump?
Well, I think that isn't. That's such a reflection of who they think they are. It is, it is. And and we're sick and tired of how inflated their egos are thinking. We're waiting with bated breath to hear what Joe and Mika or anybody else in the media, quite frankly, has to say about it. All right. That was our cleaner way of saying the same thing is Megan Kelly.
We'll be back after this. It's 854. It's 858 on Newstalk 10792085421079 is the number. If you'd like to join us. Julie, this week, I mean, we're going to talk about this Greater Idaho movement. That's every few months this story crops up in the national media. The gentleman who oversees it for Oregon was on Fox News, and we're working on an interview with him.
So, yeah, it's set. It is. We've got it all set. So tomorrow, a little programing note we'll have Senator Crapo at 730 and then Matt McCall at 835. Okay. Sounds good. Hour till the Neal Larson show is coming up. Small business owners. Good morning. It's 907. Our two underway on Newstalk 10792085421079 is the fall River propane. Call and text nine and we'd love to hear from you today.
It's it's the lull, Julie. There's a lull. Do you feel the low. Oh it's here it's a lull. It's a it's a post election pre Thanksgiving lull and we all feel it. Yeah. Yeah we're we're entrenched. Yeah. But it's going to happen. Hey we couldn't stand that high after the Thanksgiving. Yeah I mean after the, election that long.
Okay. I just have to say I still will be driving down the road somewhere. Do it. I'll be like, Holy crap, Trump's the president again. I still have that much. Do you have that moment. Still not as much. But I feel like I feel like I'm waiting for a shoe to drop. Like the, the cynical part of me is we've had too much goodness what's going to happen, you know, and, and maybe the what's that's going to happen is this us being the, the, purveyors of a potential World War three, like we supply the equipment now they're firing into Russia.
So we're just gonna have to see what happens there. That's a great question. We won't know. I mean, you're you're exactly right. Our approach to Ukraine, giving them all this weaponry might end up actually being a terrible thing. Yeah, so I'm trying to ignore it and continue to ride the happiness wave aisle. So do you still worry about Trump safety?
Oh, absolutely, I do too. I was telling you, we've been talking about the news cycle this morning, and I was telling Neal that, the like the X feed last night was just so weird and strange. Some conspiracy theories, people that I saw different tweets saying Kamala and Doug Emhoff are getting divorced. Nothing to back it up.
So it's probably complete lies. Then I there was this section of time where people were going after JD Vance, because they haven't seen J.D. Vance and Donald Trump together at all. Yeah. And I'm like, okay, chill out. He just ran a huge campaign. I would absolutely take a couple weeks off after that. Let him go hang out with his three little kids.
Oh my goodness. But then I saw other people responding to the why aren't JD Vance and Donald Trump together with I wouldn't have them anywhere near each other. That's for the next two months. That's a really good point too. Yeah, yeah, it would. It would be a liberal's dream for those two to get taken out together. Yeah, yeah.
No that's that. Yeah, that's a good point. So, Julie, here's an interesting story that we've, Chris last Savita who, he's a campaign official with Trump, he put out on X that these election officials in Pennsylvania will face jail time for counting Mail-In ballots with either incorrect or missing dates after the state Supreme court previously ruled such ballots could not be counted.
They were not, by any definition, legal. They can't be counted. In fact, I wouldn't even look at them and estimate how many there are. That's how illegal it is. That's a joke. But you know what I'm saying. So, but they were counting them with the intention of making them part of the vote total. They need to go to jail.
Yeah, well, I send them to jail. Why? Why? They've already confessed to it. Yeah, that's what I was going to say. The biggest part for this, for me, is they're not hiding it. They're blatantly. Yes. Breaking the law and telling you come after me, so come after them. Yeah. I would, toss them in jail. Even if you think.
Well, the people have sympathy for them. No, I don't care. Put them in jail. They they violated the law. They the fraud is now blatant. It's it's out in the open. They it's very clear Democrats want to count illegal ballots to get their preferred candidates a victory. Put them in jail. Yeah. Yeah. If they're going to, if they're going to flaunt it this much go right ahead.
That's the answer. Yeah I what did you do when you were raising your kids. Yeah. And you almost have to right. Yeah. When they're flaunting their disobedience the punishments probably going to be harsher than if they were like, oh man, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it. I didn't realize that that was going to cause this problem or, you know what?
I guess my question is, what argument could they possibly have to not put them in jail? You know, I don't know, because when you were when we were talking about the story earlier, I was thinking if they if they could plead at this point that they may be misunderstood the law, there's not a that they're openly saying they're breaking the law.
No. But yeah you're right. Nobody misunderstood it. So you can't use ignorance of any sort. In this I don't know. I don't know what you would say once you were faced with it. Yeah. I don't I don't know what your defense is. You've already. You've already e already confessed to murder. Yeah. What's your defense? Yeah. I don't know what they would say back.
And they took it. Took twice for the Supreme Court to go. And we're not doing this. Yeah, well, I and I also think that it's important to make them an example. And I know it sounds a little harsh, but you don't want this happening. And I want officials in Wisconsin and Michigan and Arizona and Nevada to see these Pennsylvania officials going to jail for counting ballots they knew were illegal.
Yeah, hopefully it would make others think twice, but, well, at least I think it's clear the next few months are going to be full of a lot of change. So if you're a person who doesn't like change. Yeah, like brace yourself, buckle up. There's going to be a lot of change in the next few months. Yes there is.
Did you see the story that the a lot of the DOJ lawyers are going to quit before Trump can fire them? Yes. It's problem solved. Yep. I'll give him that. Go ahead. Just clear out your desks and get out. There were leaks yesterday that, government employees have been sitting at their desks crying on zoom calls. I hope they have.
Yeah, I hope of these recorded some of these. I hope so, too. I hope that eventually those will get out and it could all just be made up. I mean, who knows? But you mean like the nine hours that week that they spent at the office? You're spending some of it crying. Yeah, yeah. All right. My, am I cynical.
You're cynic Neal. Yes it's true. All right. We had a call. They hung up 2085421079A Julie. The media collapse continues AP is laying off 8% of their workforce. It's everywhere. Yeah. People can't stand legacy media. Well okay. So I asked Neal a question yesterday and it wasn't all it was an honest question because I'm trying to decide how long does the Idaho Statesman get to stay functioning and it be profitable.
So we get some. We did some digging to see who their parent company was, how what kind of a profit margin they have so that the Idaho Statesman can keep running. I didn't realize until we did that digging that they actually only print three times a week. Yeah. Was it Monday Wednesday Sunday. Yes. Yeah. Now we've seen other newspapers make that shift.
Yeah. I don't think you have to, to cut costs. Smaller regional papers. Now they update their online, the digital version every day. So that's ongoing. But their core medium the paper in newspaper. Yeah. They're scaling that back. Yeah. And that can't be a great sign for you because you haven't you haven't embraced the modern ingestion of news.
Yeah. Right. And the only thing that you can keep doing is cutting back like the AP. Oh, yeah. You got to catch up. Yeah. So other ways to make money. Yeah. Well, yeah, there are it. Poor newspaper. It's been. It's just been a series of threats against them. Not not like literal threats but economic threat. So let's go to the phones.
(208)Â 542-1079 hi, caller. How are you today? Caller are you there? Hello? Yeah. Everything's on turned up way it ought to be. If you can hear me, caller, say hi. All right. We're gonna have to let him go. All right? Okay. (208)Â 542-1079. And, we may have to take a break and talk to the engineers. Okay, I'll read this while you're getting that ready.
Somebody just sent a text that said they are. They have verified that they know four different students who had to take days off of school up at BYU Idaho, because they were so altered by the election, they had to take days off of school. Okay. That was a very appropriate that somebody hung up the call. All right.
Yeah. Hey. Okay. Can I ask you a question? Have you ever been so disappointed by an out, like, externally, like you lost a game or your favorite team lost, or an election was so hot that you needed to take time off for yourself. Okay, this is a this is actually an interesting thought process. I walked through this once.
This was probably 4 or 5 years ago. I walked through this once with someone. The thought process was, is it healthy to take mental health days? Because that became really popular about 6 or 7 years ago. Yeah. And and people would be like, I just have to have a day off. I need a mental health day. Yeah. And my, my take and I don't think it varies much from then to now.
My argument was that I doubt that there's ever a positive to laying in bed all day and ignoring the world. Now, if you take a mental health day, that's enriching where you do a hobby that you love, or you go visit an an old friend, or maybe you spend some time with your grandma who's in, an elderly care home or you, you you go, I just need a day to get completely caught back up on my life.
I'm going to clean my home. I'm going to get back up. I don't I don't think I can do work today. For me, those mental health days, arguably, we can we can talk about it. And I think that that's a benefit to your life. Yeah. Taking time off and laying in bed and doing nothing, I, I don't know how that helps you.
Yeah. And running away from school when it could completely take your mind off of something like the election. I don't know why you don't don't why just engage in an activity that's going to take your mind off of it? Well, okay. And I have told you, we've had this conversation. We've been through quite a number of months here.
I haven't taken a day off in quite a while. I just need a day off. But I'm not emotionally devastated. I'm just a little burnout. Like I just need a little. Yeah, you're going to go do something fun on that day off. That's totally different than someone who had the election devastated them so badly that they can't bring it to themselves to get up and go to class, or to go to work or whatever, that that's very, very different.
We all get burnout. We all need to reset. We all need to recharge. I don't think we all get devastated by the outcome of some external event. Like, now, you know what if if you have friends who live in Europe and their city was hit by a nuke and you've lost friends, you're grieving personally and you know that I can understand something like that.
I can't understand the person that I don't like won an election. So I'm going to clear the decks of my life right now and and cry in my beer, be at home mourning, which at BYU would be near beer, you know, root beer cry and my fetch and root beer. My Fanta. No, but I, I almost feel bad for them.
Yeah. Although is is this, let me ask this question because I think a lot of us can be prone to this, and especially when you're younger, you can find an excuse to not go to class. Oh, 100%. Like I remember at times, if I had the sniffles and it happened to be on Sunday and I didn't really feel like going to church, I had the worst flu I've ever had.
Does that make sense? Like they're not actually devastated over the election. It's just, you know what? This is a thing. And I just need a premise to do nothing today. Right. And maybe their their professors up there know what kind of person they are when they're like that. And they're like, I don't want them in my class anyway.
So yep. Stay home. It's true. Stay home. There's the assignment on your own time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's true. You know, here's the thing, though. There is beauty in disappointment. It teaches you to be tougher. Yeah. You know, these these libs who are losing it. They're going to be better for it because they have to go through the pain of it.
And so the next time it happens, they will have gone through that emotional gantlet of not getting everything they want all the time. And they'll actually it's like it's like strengthening a muscle a little bit. They'll learn how to get through it. Oh, I hope you're right because I don't have that much faith. I think that if you go to a place where you shave your head, you double down.
Well, I think you're right. I think some people are not gonna learn the lesson. Yeah, they can, but. But I do think there are some that will so I. Yeah, hopefully. Yeah. Not that they'll become conservatives but although let's go back. We just had this discussion yesterday where people emotionally vomit on social media about how terrible the world is going to be, but then you run into him out in public and they're just living their life.
Yeah. I just feel like the if that's the person you are, you're not being honest with what is actually going on in your life. Yes. Because if the election devastated you so much you shouldn't be able to go out and do other things. If you just need a break from the news cycle and you want to go mountain biking, then go mountain biking and call it what it is.
Yeah, yeah, right. Just just take it. Take a little break, okay. (208)Â 542-1279 quick quick break. We'll come back and continue after this. On Newstalk 179. Okay. Let's I don't think the caller can hear us. Caller, can you hear us okay I can oh, you. Oh, great. Okay, good. Yeah. I call by saying she had text and it was broke, but it seems to be working now, so.
Oh, okay. Great. Well, if he'll hold on, we can take your call on the other, at the end of this commercial break. Okay. All right, all right. So then, by the way, what is your name? DJ deejay. Okay, DJ standby. Okay, well, let's get somebody else sent in a text that said there's a whole bunch of ional in place who took days off, too, because they couldn't handle the results of the election.
Boo frickin. Who should we mock them openly on here? Yes, we should. Don't answer that. I know how you're going to answer and I don't like that. I'm gonna say no. But yeah. You guys I don't know what was happening at the beginning of Facebook Live. What was, what was going on. We went about the first 7 or 8 minutes with only five people on.
Now we're back. We're up of 31. Normal. Okay. I don't know what was going on. We're right. I went to what was Rick's college, and we went in negative temperatures. There was no canceling of class. You know this story about Kamala Harris running in 2028. And you know what I think that is? It's them processing the outcome still like they're going through grief.
They're in denial. She's a terrible candidate. If she if she couldn't beat Trump, she's not going to be able to beat Ron DeSantis or JD Vance or whoever. It's going to be like I don't think is germane. I, I was just thinking, plus, my back is dying. Being up against that rod in my chair. There's a cruise line.
Yeah, that's offering a four year cruise so that you don't have to pay attention to Trump's presidency for four years. That's brilliant. Marketing. But somebody retweeted it and said, imagine getting off this cruise ship and realizing JD Vance is your president now. Yeah, yeah. You're you're not it's not your problem is not fixed. That you're right. You know though like I look at this and let's talk about the Department of Education.
They're very serious about getting rid of it and getting rid of it soon. I don't think they view it as a multi-year effort. I think it's now we're going to get rid of this as soon as we can. Nobody's going to be left with nothing. You know, they'll get a severance and they'll probably have the option of moving maybe to a different department that they might be, you know, eligible for.
But maybe not. You know, maybe maybe they just get a severance and then they got to go out and find a new job, someone which I'm fine with, but everything's going to be okay. Like, kids are still going to be going to school across America. They're still going to be learning States will probably have more money than they've been getting, and I think everyone will acclimate to that new reality.
It's just when you talk about eliminating an entire federal department, people lose their minds like the world is coming to an end. I wonder how many employees are encompassed into the Department of Education. I don't know, because there will be parts you can't get rid of, right? Like you like the student loan portion. There's going to have to people manage that.
Yeah. Yes. For sure. All right. We are back on the program. (208)Â 542-1079 let's go to D.J. standing by on the phone. Hi, DJ, how are you? Hey, how are you doing? Doing, doing pretty well. What's up? Hey, in all this post-election turmoil, just like trying to point out, you know, that if Tmall can spend $1 billion of not her money in three months, what kind of damage could she have done if she was in the white House?
Yeah, that's a she has all, you know, she right now she just spend all her donors money. But, you know, she was going to spend all the taxpayer's money. I think in the same way. Yeah. And, you compare that to how Trump spent his money relying on I think your term is earned media or whatever, and it's just makes you feel a little bit better about the way things went.
Yeah, I would agree, because I think the the way she managed the finances of her campaign would be very similar to the way she should manage the nation's money, too. So it's not my money. Yeah, I can it's just, you know. Yeah. Well, anyway. Hey, thanks. You guys do a great job. Great point. Thank you for the call.
(208)Â 542-1079 back to the phones. Hi. Caller. Good morning. I have a comment and a prediction. You were just talking about Bucks County, Pennsylvania, right? Yeah. So I grew up in a neighboring county, to Bucks County. And, I'll make a comparison. Bucks County, Pennsylvania is, like the victor Idaho of Pennsylvania, meaning it went from a rural agricultural type community with pockets of, you know, suburbia and such, no big metro areas.
And now it's a left wing liberal enclave full of, elite, Philadelphia suburb type, horse farm. So it's not shocking to hear that this is going on where they're defying the Pennsylvania state Supreme Court with the election shenanigans. And my prediction is that next year, sometime, you're going to hear a story that's already been written about some alleged horror or atrocity that's happened to someone in the United States as a direct result of Trump firing some low level staffer in some tucked away.
Never heard of government operation. And they're going to say this person was directly impacted and had they not hired, fired this paper pusher from this obscure agency, this never would have happened. And this is why we need 18 million government employees. Yeah, I think you're exactly right. Yeah. And they do it on so many issues. They take one little instance or hiccup, and then they absolutely magnify it into this.
It's a systemic problem everywhere. And leverage it. Agreed. Yeah. Thank you for the call. 285421278I really like Pennsylvania. I think it's got a like a soft spot in your heart. It does. I've lived in Pennsyl. I lived in Pennsylvania for a while, so we had, someone who messaged in and said, so if they deport all the migrant workers, who's gonna farm the food?
Well, there's going to be a whole bunch of unemployed government workers. That's true. I can't. Well, and no one handed me any job I've ever had. I had to I had to scrape and search, and I don't think having a job is a right. Yeah, no, I don't either. Well, and not only that, the Trump's prioritizing here get rid of the criminals.
That is obvious. Low hanging fruit right. I think the people who are here, even if they're here illegally and they're picking fruit or working in the fields or whatever, you know, agric, if they're not causing problems, yeah, they might end up getting deported, which they, they probably should, but they're down on the list. And I don't think it's going to happen in a way where all of a sudden there's this huge gap.
Now finding finding farm workers has has been tough. There's been a labor shortage in agriculture for a long time. So that's even less of an incentive for Trump to deport them simply because it's going to exacerbate that problem. So I think they're going to be very, very low priority deportations. But if they're if they're breaking, if they're causing problems in their communities, stealing, thieving, harming, whatever, then they're going to get deported.
But I, I, I feel like we we're going to wake up and Trump is going to be deporting 20 million people overnight. And it's not going to happen how it's going to work. Yeah. Also I would say to anyone because I said all of that tongue in cheek, but I would say to anyone who truly has this concern, there's actually a legal way to become a migrant worker.
Yeah. Do it the right way. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Well and we do have programs for that. Let's go to the next caller. Welcome to the show. Good morning. Good morning. Julie, how are you today? Yeah, we're doing okay. Julie just stole my call topic. Good job. Sorry. Answer to answer to the question about if he deport the migrant workers.
The migrant workers aren't here, quote, illegally. They're here with an agricultural visa. Yeah, they're they've been vetted. And they come, they do their work, they go back. They usually don't break laws while they're here. Well, who he's going to deport is the criminals, the people who walked across the border, who traffic ticket traffic, kids across the border, who trafficked drugs across the border.
And to go back to the previous hour, I'm all for the military showing up, loading them up, putting them on a C-130, teach them how to parachute and throw them out over the border. Okay, well, that'll save us a whole lot of money. We don't got to pay for hotels. Nothing. Teach him a four hour course. How to pull the record on the parachute.
Fly, move the country, say, hey, Nicaragua! Next stop. Venezuela. Next stop. Wherever you're going to go. Yeah, well, that's one way to do it. I creative. Yeah. Liberals who listen to the liberals who listen to your show I'm going to define that is sarcasm. Yeah. Listen people make fun of the situation because I don't want you and Julie to get inundated with calls for that inhumane Rob throwing people out there.
Yes. Gotcha. Have a great day, guys. Enjoy this nice cold weather because it's going to get a whole lot warmer as politics heats up. When they try and fight Trump on every front. Yes. Agreed. Thank you for the call. You know what I think Trump's going to do? I think it's going to be similar to the picks.
They can't keep up with their hair on. Like there's only the hair that was on fire. They've shaved off. Yeah, yeah that's true. There's not a there's nothing left to burn. So but here's the here's the thing. I think he's going to make so many changes so quickly. They won't be able to to cohesively stop very many of them.
I think it's just going to be this one decision right after another, and they won't be able to keep up with it, I hope so, I and I think that it is our job as those who voted for Trump and everyone across America. Then when the good stuff happens that unites America, make sure you talk about it.
Yeah, don't run away from these topics when criminals get sent back to Mexico or to wherever they came from, that's not a bad thing. You don't have to run away from that. Yeah, when, a bloated government agency gets trimmed down, that's not a bad thing. You don't have to run away from that. No, you don't, you don't.
And I think most people want that. I think most people recognize our our federal agencies are way over, over bloated. And when you had a never mind they say they're bloated and overloaded. Are their two levels bloated and over bloated I think I think bloated means it's over something I think it's built into the definition. But if anybody get over bloat something, it would be the federal government.
Yeah, they they would be experts at that. Donald Trump's going to take a pocket knife to the bloated federal government. You know, just zoom out everywhere. Yeah. Right. Exactly. Okay. Quick break 936 on Newstalk 179. If you'd like to join us. (208)Â 542-1079 Tom Homans on Fox. Now this morning he's everywhere. He is everywhere. So I kind of I have that picture that they took it fair of me interviewing Tom Homan.
And the capitals in the background I sort of want to post it but I, I have this rule. I don't really like posting pictures of me with celebrities like him. So I'm not going to I've never been a big fan of that. I'm, I'm, I don't mind it when it's happening in the moment when you have to resurrect it.
That's when I tell them like, yeah, that's true, that's true. I mean, if I was walking through the airport and somebody I really I don't worship a lot of celebrities, I don't even know who I would want to take a picture with. I, yeah, I don't know, like, I think Mike Lee is amazing. I wouldn't walk up and take a picture with Mike Lee.
I don't like I, I have a, there's a picture somewhere of me with Mike Lee because I interviewed him at at fair one year two. We interviewed him. He released a book about the Constitution. Do you remember that? Yes. And we did a radio interview with him a few years. Yeah. I wouldn't take a picture with him.
Like, I don't even know who would be in the airport because that's so my personality, right? Yeah. I'm kind of jealous of people who can get really excited about situations like that. I almost wish I could. I wish I had a little more passion into things like that. People get so excited to go to concerts. I kind of wish I had that.
It makes me a little jealous. Yeah, I have a couple of clients going to Taylor Swift up in, British Columbia. They are beyond excited, and I, I, I'm a little I just wish I had that in me a little bit more. Yeah, I don't have that either. Like, I'm like. I mean, I've been excited to go to a concert, but not to that level.
Yeah, yeah. Or like the people like a new star Wars movie comes out and everybody dresses up in, you know, Stormtrooper, Chewbacca, Skywalker. Yeah. Han Solo, like, I've just never been. That's just never been me. But I. I'm kind of jealous of the people that love it and care about it that much. I wish I had that in me a little bit more.
Although I did say to Julie, I do think we need to decorate our studio for Christmas this year. So after that, after Thanksgiving, I think we'll put up a little tree in the corner. I have a tree. It's way too big. It would be too fat for that corner. We need the skinny tree. Okay, so I saw this thing on, probably Facebook, where it was a tree that you can put up in literally, like two minutes.
And it has a stand with a pole in the middle, but the tree part is this is a series of rings. So the top is a small ring. And then it just keeps getting bigger and bigger. So you drop it and it it just creates this beautiful tree. It's easy to store it. It's not like a fake tree.
It takes up so much room. Yeah, I haven't seen that, but I have seen that they started making this year trees that are flat on one side. So you can push them up against the wall so you don't walk behind the tree. Yeah. So you look like you still have a tree, like if you're in your apartment or whatever, but it has one flat side that goes up against the wall and then you just decorate the rest of it.
That's kind of smart. Does it look like it's sort of built into the wall? Yeah. Kind of like that. Yeah. That's our Lisa said she'd walk up to Kevin Costner. What if walk up to Kevin Costner. There would have been a time in my life where I would have walked up to Bob Costas before he went crazy.
Yeah, no, I wouldn't, but if you'd asked me that question 20 years ago, I would have said, can I sit and talk to you for a second? That would be somebody that I would, yeah. Want to hold a conversation with. That's probably like, I don't want to just meet him and take a selfie with him. I'd like to just talk to him and see what their their life is like.
And, I will say, a couple of my Facebook friends have pictures of Mike Tyson that they ran into in an airport or on a plane when hearing about the Trump administration's plans, for border security, the emphasis really is on this mass deportation. What we saw here today is the actual work happening at our ports of entry that are interdicting drugs, keeping those drugs off our streets.
And and we need more of that to, to secure the border here. Okay. She makes no sense whatsoever. No. If you don't want that stuff, you prevent them from coming in in the first place. Katie Hobbs. You're right. Ray. I so I spoke with somebody who has family living in Mexico, and she immigrated here.
I talked to her yesterday. It was a really interesting conversation. Some of that I wouldn't share without her, approval. Yeah. On on the conversation. But one thing that she did say when it comes to immigration is she said, I think you should build the wall in about a two month span started in January. Yeah, finish it by the end of April.
Yeah. And she said, because it makes no sense to fix the problem when there's still a broken area that allows the problem to grow. Yeah. And I thought, this is a woman who has family who immigrated with her and has family back in Mexico and has a a stronger emotional resilience to fixing the immigration problem than some elite white chick.
Yeah, right. Okay. It's crazy to me that someone who has never experienced it in their life feels like they know more than somebody who is entrenched in it. Yeah. You know what, though? It reminds me of what Bill Maher said, that white liberals think America is a racist country in higher numbers than blacks, and Hispanics think America is a racist country.
They do know better. Yeah. They're white college educated liberals. There's no smarter segment of society than that Julie. According to their their standards. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Can I just, I got distracted on, on Facebook for just a second and, I just want to point out East Idaho has a football team playing in every, category for state for state championships.
Oh. That's awesome. So Rigby and it's skyline versus Hillcrest. So we'll have an East Idaho winner there. Sugar Salem versus Holmdel. So sugar West side versus Declan and Declan is almost East Idaho. West side definitely is. And then Butte County versus Kendrick. So good job. Yeah East Idaho good job. We should bring home some hardware after this weekend man.
That's good. And where do Skyline and Hillcrest play? Pocatello. Ikudo okay. Fabulous. How fun for the fans of those two teams. That's at 815 on Friday. Rigby will play at Albertsons Stadium in Boise, and the foray game is actually at Middleton High School. Oh, okay. Not sure why sugar Salem versus Holmdel and the three day game. The West Side Dec low game.
That's at 530 on Friday at the ICC. You dome okay. And then Butte County versus Kendrick is at the Kibby Dome in Moscow okay. So Middleton is the Middleton High School is going to be the one outside game. Yeah, that's going to be for kids. It is at 1 p.m. so they'll have sunshine. Okay. It will be, late at night.
But yeah. So yeah. Well congratulations to the Grizzlies, to the Knights, to the Trojans and I don't the diggers. Salem diggers. Yeah. The west side Pirates and the Butte County also pirates, I believe. Oh, okay. I should know this. I don't know this. Oh. Adam says Albertson Stadium is outside. Yeah, it's it's Boise State's. Okay, so I, I was inaccurate on the Rigby game.
I can't remember which college league it is, but there have been four college coaches fired out of one of the, the divisions, like, you know, like the Mountain West or the SEC or whatever. Yeah. All four of the schools have some sort of an owl as their mascot. And all four of the coaches have been fired.
Really? Fascinating. How was that? I sometimes coincidences, you're like, Come on. Yeah. What's happening? Oh, after the Bengals got routed by Eastern Washington, the issue removed their defensive coordinator. Oh, yeah. After that game. So. Okay, what did you think of him as a coach? Did you feel like the defense was doing okay? I didn't I didn't know him.
Well at all in that game. No, it was horrendous okay. Yeah. It it was in fact, neither team's defense was what was the basketball score. It was the basketball. Yeah. It was 77 of 40. Yeah. Anyway, yeah. So it, I would bet you if you looked over all of college football FCS and FBS, that probably was the highest scoring game in all of college and all of them on Saturday because it it was just it felt like there was a touchdown every 20s in the game.
So, yeah, I say they made it. They made a change. So probably a good change. Okay. I don't know if they completely fired him from the staff, but he's been removed as defensive core. And who did they elevate into that. Not sure yet. No. Yeah. Anyway, now sometimes you gotta make those hard decisions to keep building a program.
Well we've got they've sold out for Idaho the Idaho game this Saturday. Good. So that's a big game. That is a big game. Yeah. And we're going to have a full stadium. So it's going to be fun. Yeah. That'll be great. All right. 947 208542107I Neal Larson along with Julie Mason, just checking the headlines here. And, let's see, there was one story I did want to, talk about.
Katie Couric is ripping Kamala Harris for her word salad responses. I did see this last night, and she said, answer the question. And, on Thursday's installment of her podcast next question was Katie Couric. The veteran broadcaster had a lengthy post-election conversation with Jen Psaki, who said she thought one of Harris's better interviews was her Fox News sit down with Brett Baer.
I always find that people do better when they're asked really challenging, pointed questions. I always felt that way about Hillary Clinton, Couric said. If you're giving them these almost weird, like amorphous soft balls, it's really hard to kind of hone your message and be succinct and say what you really need to say. I also felt that and again, I think Harris really did well in so many areas, but I was frustrated by her inability to really succinctly answer questions at times.
Jen. Like if she was asked about changing the Supreme Court at that CNN town hall, she had the opportunity to talk about ethics and like, you know, Alito and Clarence Thomas were doing. And she answered, like in one sentence and then went on to something that had nothing to do with the question. Craig said. You know, people notice that.
And it's like, answer the question, please. And I she that was one of one of she had a lot of weaknesses. That was one of them. That was just one of them. And if I had been sitting in this like if it had been a roundtable interview, I would have asked Katie Couric, well, Katie, you just said she did a lot of things where there were great.
This is one of the things she did wrong. Can you tell me what she did? Great, because I don't I can't make an exclusive list of what Kamala Harris did great in that campaign. Yeah, well, when we and I'm not going to play the clip of the argument between Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Fair and all that, but Sunny Hostin seems to be under the impression that Kamala Harris is very accomplished and very qualified.
And I don't mean it to be rude, but I wonder, what are you seeing that so much of America is not seeing? Because I don't I would consider her one of the least qualified vice presidents we've had in recent memory. It would take me no time to make a complete. I could start it right here. She should have never showed up for her events looking as tired as she did physically.
She looked weaker then than anybody on the Republican side. She should have never allowed people like Glenn Walls to behave like she did in front of audiences. It harmed you? Yeah. She should have never been conned by her campaign staff to run with things like calling J.D. Vance weird. Yeah, we all knew that wasn't going to work. There was no way that was going to stick.
So why did you do it? Yeah, right. She should have never been conned into doing the whole fascist routine at the end. You were. You were grasping at straws. She shouldn't have allowed the public to lie about the Beyonce performance. You knew she wasn't going to perform. You should have clarified that. Because everybody who showed up for that rally felt like you lied to her or lied to them.
So. And that transfers? Yes. When you lie about that, that transfers, I mean, I, I could keep going. I just gave you five without even even doing any research. No I yeah. And and the list could just go on and on. She, she didn't have a lot of. What would you say would be her strength if you could find a strength in Kamala Harris, what do you think it would be if, if she would have been able to maintain the way she can interact when there's just 2 or 3 people in the room and do that publicly, it would have really benefited her.
But for some reason she cannot transfer that. She can't. I would say one of the one of the most I felt like, wow, she handled that well moments was when she walked out with, Obama and they were joking with one of the people who came to be her supporter. I can't remember, it's a celebrity. And they were joking.
I was like, she did really well with that. But it was because it was her and two men in a room, and she's perfected that in her life. She's perfected the ability to manipulate men. That's how she got to the level that she got to see that was not transferable to a stage. She couldn't do it in front of a crowd.
Now, if she could have, I think it would have been very Obama esque. It could have been. It could have been. She didn't have it. I don't I don't think you can learn that though in in a month or two. I mean, why hasn't she done it up till now? She hasn't had to because she's never been on that big of a stage.
And and she didn't argue in courtrooms, so she didn't have to learn it there. Like she missed these growth steps to getting to age almost 60. Yeah. That you should have had these things already accomplished by the time you're running. She's taken the shortcut at every turn. And that means you don't develop a skill set that you would need for for that, I, I feel like maybe overall, her biggest weakness was just the contradiction that she was and that her messaging was this idea out of one side of her mouth saying, Biden's economy, super strong economy, we've done great things.
But then she's got Gwen Walls saying, we need to turn the page, okay, voters, you're like, you got to pick one. We could go down and turn the page out saying, we got to put Donald Trump in the rearview mirror forever. You could that could be a message. But you can't you can't coexist those two narratives. And she was trying to do that.
And so it, it it jumbled each each each one of those narratives jumbled the other. And I, I feel like it it was just she was almost running against herself at times because of because of that. And she picked the worst possible running mate that she could. Tim Walls was a massive disaster. I think she overestimated and over relied on celebrity endorsements.
I think there's a point at which it's there's a law of diminishing returns that if if you're bringing out a whole parade of celebrities, I think America starts to get almost suspicious of that. Whereas if she had picked maybe 3 or 4 top names, that might have helped her even more than the 15 or 20 names that she brought up.
Especially when eight of your celebrities have very close ties to somebody who's currently sitting in prison that they won't give bail to because he was running massive sex rings, right? That's an island that doesn't have the power you think it has, which is the sort of part of that contradiction thing, too. Yeah, that's a good point. All right, we got a break.
We'll come back. We'll wrap it up after this. On Newstalk 178 okay. Oh somebody said in the Native American culture, the owl is the messenger of death. If an owl shows up, it's the messenger of death. Do not choose that as your mascot. Yeah, really? Are owls messengers of death. Who said that? Somebody in the text. Like who are they?
Who?
Julie doesn't think funny. So it's whatever. I believe I'm pulling this. Former Texas Longhorns coach, Tom Herman, fired by for you. There's a Longhorns that can't. That's not an owl. The Florida Atlantic Owls. Okay, that's one of the people that were fired. Oh, Tom Herman is the coach of them now. And was the Longhorns coach previously. Okay, that's what's going on there.
That's why that that news article pulled okay. Here it is. So all the owl teams FSU, Kennesaw State, Rice and Temple will fire their head coaches. And that's funny. And then somebody said that's a hoot. It was a bad month for nocturnal Birds with an upright stance. Stan Drayton is out as the Temple Owls football coach. Tom Herman is out as the owls football coach.
Mike bloom can. Thank you for loading a tweet. Hold on. Mike Bloomberg is out as the Rice Owls football coach and then Brian Bohanon at Kennesaw State was canned as well. How? Do you like birds? Birds kind of freak me out if you've if you broil them correctly.
To do what. I, I they're weird. Birds are weird. You know something I, I don't know, I find this fascinating. Birds and reptiles are very closely related evolutionarily. Yeah. Like they're almost adjacent branches. Yes. In evolution. And you look at, like, the skin on a chicken or their eyes and they're, they look like reptiles.
I'm like, oh yeah that's cool. Some of them can fly. The necks on birds freak me out that I get weirded out by the next sunbirds. I also get weirded out when they're big little birds. Don't bother me like if a bird flies down next to my feet. You know when I'm eating it. Yeah. Can I outdoor table.
Yeah. No big deal. When the birds are big, there's something I don't like that they have that much size on me. Kind of freaks me like an ostrich or something. Yes. Yeah, that is pretty weird. Did I, I did I show you the picture? I took it the fair through the cage of the turkey. I don't think so.
Yeah. All right, I'm going to find that that's one of the coolest pictures I've ever taken. Yeah, I was about to make the best point I have ever made in my life. But we're out of time, so we got to wrap it up for today. Oh, darn it, darn it. Shoot, everyone. Have a great Tuesday. Mark, Lee, VanCamp, and Robbins up next.
Julie and I back tomorrow.
