Neal plays a portion of Reagan's special tribute to the Military to honor Vets on Veteran's Day. A local teacher's verbally abusive social media post goes viral and listeners weigh in on what the consequences she should face. According to a leaked list, Idaho Senators may be among those who at odds with Trump over who should be the Senate Majority Leader. The front runners are John Cornyn and John Thune, but Trump's pick is Rick Scott.

You want to show us right here. But the measure of our character is my damage is how quickly we get back up. Newstalk 179 stimulating talk.

You and I have a rendezvous with them. Destiny.

Will preserve for our children. This the last, best hope of man on earth. Or we'll sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of doctor. We will keep in mind and remember that you and I have the ability and the dignity and the right. The right. To make our own decisions and determine our own destiny.

In this hour of the Neil Larson Show, brought to you by tailored to painting quality residential and commercial painting and staining tailored to painting, turning houses into homes. Your world, your country, your communities and you. Let's talk about it now on The Neil Larson Show with co-host Julie Mason. If we look to the answer as to why, for so many years, we achieved so much prospered as no other people on earth.

It was because here in this land, we unleash the energy and individual genius of man to a greater extent than has ever been done before. Freedom and the dignity of the individual have been more available and assured here than in any other place on earth. The price for this freedom at times has been high, but we have never been unwilling to pay that price.

Those who say that we're in a time when there are no heroes. They just don't know where to look. The sloping hills of Arlington National Cemetery with it's row upon row of simple white markers bearing crosses or stars of David. They add up to only a tiny fraction of the price that has been paid for our freedom. Each one of those markers is a monument to the kind of hero I spoke of early in their lives, ended in places called below what the Argonne, Omaha Beach, Salerno, and halfway around the world on Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Pork Chop Hill, the Chosen Reservoir, and then 100 rice paddies and jungles of a place called Vietnam.

Under one such marker lies a young man, Martin, Trek down, who left his job in a small town barbershop in 1917 to go to France with the famed Rainbow Division. There, on the Western Front. He was killed trying to carry a message between battalions under heavy artillery fire. We're told that on his body was found a diary on the flyleaf under the heading My Pledge.

He had written these words. America must win this war. Therefore I will work, I will save. I will sacrifice. I will endure. I will fight cheerfully and do my utmost. As if the issue of the whole struggle depended on me alone. We must realize that no arsenal or no weapon in the arsenals of the world is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women.

It is a weapon our adversaries in today's world do not have. It is a weapon that we as Americans do have. Let that be understood by those who practice terrorism and prey upon their neighbors. As for the enemies of freedom, those who are potential adversaries, they will be reminded that peace is the highest aspiration of the American people.

We will negotiate for it. Sacrifice for it. We will not surrender for it now or ever. We are Americans, but the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away. And I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free. And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that fight to me.

And I gladly stand up next to you. And it better to today. But there ain't no doubt I love this land. God bless the U.S.A. today and I.

Will. Good morning, East Idaho. It's 11 minutes after 8:00. As long as I'm blessed to do radio, I will never not play a soldier's pledge by President Reagan. It could not be stated in my mind more profoundly than he has. The sacrifices of our men and women who have served and the role that they have played throughout our history as a republic.

And today we honor and thank them, and their contributions are incalculable. In terms of freedom, we cannot quantify what are serving men and women have done for each one of us and the freedoms that we that we enjoy every day in this country. So thank you for serving. Those of you who are serving have served those of you who are no longer with us and gave the ultimate sacrifice.

I appreciate you and and we hear it at Newstalk 1079. Give you our our great and deep thanks. Completely inadequate thanks. But we give you our thanks for all that you've done for us, and we hope you have a very, happy is not the right word, but we hope that you have a very, thoughtful and honorable Veteran's Day and, accept our our gratitude and thanks for all that you do.

Welcome to the show. It's good to have you with us today. We have so much that we want to get to from a political standpoint. We've got a lot of very interesting developments and stories that are happening all around the news cycle, and we'll try to get to as much of it as possible. If you want to call in later and pay your, your, tribute to the veterans in your life.

Then we absolutely are open to that as well. So we've reached almost a week, not quite a week since Donald Trump and his historic win. And it's been very interesting to watch the the Democrat Party and their response to this, because you have some corners and and keep in mind, Donald Trump's victory has kind of broken them.

And in in multiple ways. We could define broken in a lot of different ways. They're emotionally distraught. In fact, we could and I I'm not really big into the schadenfreude, though I will, confess to feeling that way sometimes, but I really don't like to see people in misery. But I do like to see the left get defeated.

And so I hope that their emotional pain doesn't last too long. But I, absolutely can recognize and appreciate how important it is for our nation to prosper. And I will tell you, it is my firm belief that if progressives are allowed to to operate unfettered, we will not prosper. We will see the foundations of our Republic crumble as we have watched over the last three and a half to four years.

And so I'm glad that that appears to be coming to an end very, very shortly. But one of the things that I noticed over the weekend as I was watching the news cycle, you have Nancy Pelosi blaming Joe Biden. You have other people that are blaming, bad messaging. You have other people within the Democrat Party. They're blaming Barack Obama for the big loss because he waited three days to endorse Kamala Harris.

And I could go on. I could go on. But I'm going to tell you if if these people that want to come up with the, the single bullet theory and I'll call it that little nod to the JFK law here. But if if you think there's a single bullet that, what that ended Kamala Harris is presidential aspirations in terms of a theory that ended her campaign.

I want to be very clear here. I'm not advocating any violence toward anyone, but if you want to look at what ended her campaign, there is no single thing. There was no singular moment. There's no one individual factor that ended her campaign. The bottom line is she was just a bad candidate. She was a very, very, very bad pick and we all knew it from the get go.

She has gone three and a half years of this presidency, never getting approval above 50%. Her negatives were always higher, and I don't say that to be mean or to be rude. It's just sheer political analysis. You had a media complex that tried to gaslight the American people that said, oh, she's another Obama. She well, where was she for three and a half years?

Like Obama was impressive from the get go. I was worried about him the first time I he was interviewed as a U.S. senator. I saw him and I'm like, oh, worry with this is trouble. This guy has a future. Kamala. Not not so much at all. And we kind of knew instinctively this ultimately. Do you remember the rhetoric we got to about February of this year, maybe ten months ago, and all the speculation was happening that Kamala Harris might be, put in, but we we all felt like by about February or March, it was getting way too late for them to do that, to be able to take someone to get the name

recognition out there, to get their operation and organization going, to get them their image rehabilitated or established in such a way that you can beat a candidate like Donald Trump. There just wasn't enough time. And we were exactly right about that. In fact, they didn't do it by February or March. They waited until the summer to put her in.

There are people that were upset that there was not a more competitive process to find a nominee. Somebody that may have a better chance than Kamala Harris would have, like a Josh Shapiro or Andy Beshear or, from from Kentucky. But none of that. And it's been interesting to listen to the Democrats. And they don't they don't. They'd probably explain around this, but I don't know if there is any good explaining around this.

They talk about Donald threat being a, a threat to democracy. They said Trump is, you know, he's anti-democratic. Their nominee didn't get a single vote to be the nominee. Nobody voted for Kamala Harris to be the presidential nominee in the Republican or in the Democrat Party or otherwise. How's that Democratic? They simply selected her because Joe Joe's decline was that obvious.

They couldn't hide it any longer. They tried, but they couldn't hide it any longer. So there's lots of finger pointing going on. You have Bernie Sanders saying the whole Democrat Party has abandoned the working class. You had the DNC chair saying, that's B.S., but not just the initials. You have Nancy Pelosi saying Bernie Sanders is completely wrong. We are the party that stands up for the working class.

So it it is in complete disarray. Everybody's pointing fingers at each other. And meanwhile we're like the Michael Jackson meme. We're sitting here pop and pop, you know, throwing popcorn in our mouth, enjoying this meltdown. UN on the left. You also have sort of these sub, storylines going on some. But I had never heard of this person, but apparently they worked for Kamala Harris and believes that they do need to make Kamala Harris the the president for a couple of months before Donald Trump takes the reins, because it it kills all the merchandise.

That said Trump, 47. Okay, well, that's petty. And in the end, it wouldn't matter anyway. So that and it's not going to happen, by the way, I'm going to tell you, I know you're seeing these stories. It will not happen right now. The Democrats are not cohesive or unified enough. In fact, normally they're organized about they're creating chaos, which is what they would want to do.

It would just be more chaos creation. There's also talk about forcing Sonia Sotomayor to retire. They thought Kamala was going to win. They really did. They have lived in a state of denial for the last four years, believing and trying to, create the reality that Donald Trump is the unelectable president. And in in the process, they did just the opposite.

They brought their own fears into reality. The law fair that they threw at him, the lies that they threw and continue to tell about him, the good people on both sides, the suckers and losers, all of those things, all at best completely unverified, but more likely just flat out Partizan lies by people who have an ax to grind against Donald Trump.

And they made him incredibly power. And they saw that power on display last Tuesday. Their worst fears brought to life in part by them. Now, I would say, and I've had this discussion a little bit, with with people who clearly are fearful and they are fearful. They, they fear for years of Donald Trump. They're in mourning and they're they're grieving right now.

I would ask you to do something that I think could bring a lot of relief to yourself. I think you need to ask yourself if you've bought in to false narratives that the media has created in an attempt to destroy Donald Trump, the idea that he's a Nazi or a fascist, the idea that he is going to exterminate trans genders, that he is going to somehow with the wave of his hand going to make abortion illegal across the lay, all the all the things, all the fears that you have, if you will.

Usually it doesn't work to say calm down to people who need to calm down. But if you will calm down a little bit and set your emotions on a shelf just for ten minutes, maybe 15, and ask yourself genuinely, am I overreacting because none of these things were happening in his first term? He wasn't exterminating transgenders in his first.

In fact, quite frankly, the Trump is pro-life, and I think he rightly wears a badge of honor that Roe v Wade was overturned because of the justices that he, nominated and got through. But he's not the president that wants to come in and make abortion illegal all across the land. And he has said repeatedly, and I don't think it's going to matter how many times he says it, abortion is a states issue, the Supreme Court ruled.

And I would say, rightly, that this issue goes back to the states and each state will come up with their own abortion law. I mean, we all know how there's federalism, right? And so I think you can dial back your own grief a little and you can dial back your own pain, but maybe you're wanting the pain and the grief.

Maybe you want the the, grievance upon which to base your existence and your purpose. That's a possibility. And I hope you'd consider that to last thought here. Because, you, the attorney general rule Labrador, he tweeted out a piece to the Idaho Statesman and and the Idaho Statesman had an editorial, piece about how disastrous Tuesday night was for the Democrats.

And I will tell you, the Democrat Party is defunct in Idaho. There is an organization, and they got a few thousand people, but they went from a dozen legislative seats down to nine. They lost three legislative seats in May. Yeah, I believe that's right. That's abysmal. That is abysmal. No. Maybe they went down to 12. Excuse me. I think they went from 15 to 12.

That is, I was counting only the house. I don't know how you even operate as a an effective minority in that particular case. Now, I know I don't need to be told that we have a bunch of Republicans that will help them and operate as Democrats. I get that, but here's what you need to understand. And this is what I think gives me hope, is that the voters voted conservative.

The 900 plus thousand voters that came out on Tuesday wanted Republicans to run the state, not Democrats. The electorate. Despite all of our fears, that imports from California, we're going to turn the state blue shifted red on nearly every level. In fact, I think it was the effort to turn the state blue that shifted us red, because listen to this for one second here, and I'm way past time I the Idahoans for open primaries.

That whole prop prop one. There was a great risk in them pushing it as an open primaries initiative that maybe they didn't even realize. They just thought they were going to win it. They thought their talking points were so effective and powerful. They were living in in the the time of Medicaid expansion, when they could just say it's compassion and 60% of Idaho and said, okay, it's compassion or vote.

Yes. And they did. They passed Medicaid expansion. I think they thought it was going to be a repeat of that because they had the these 2 or 3 really powerful talking points. And it turns out that Idahoans got keyed in to what they were doing. But the risk in putting forward this proposition based on this is all about open primaries means they are now further away from ever getting an open primary in the Republican Party than they've been in a very long time.

Because now if they come forward and say, well, we want the Republican Party to have open primaries, the very quick and easy reply to that and hard to refute is you put open primaries before the voters and they said, no, big time, not 51, 49. No, they said 7030. No. Which is the same as hell. No. And they don't that that whole effort, even Republicans within the party who would like to see open primaries now are going to have a very, very hard time, because now the party simply has to say the voters have already rejected that overwhelmingly, they put themselves in kind of a tough spot.

Stand up for Idaho's November 13th Town Hall features Cooper Fritts of the Idaho Department of Water Resources, and is a continuar version of our efforts to understand Idaho's water wars and what we can do about them. As we discovered earlier this summer, water is a huge issue for East Idaho. A curtailment order was issued to shut off the water to East Idaho's farms, threatening hundreds of thousands of acres of crops and jeopardizing the entire economy of East Idaho.

Cooper Fritts is the aquifer recharge program coordinator for the Idaho Falls Resources Board Recharge program for diversions above American Falls, and he has been involved in developing new dedicated recharge infrastructure in East Idaho. Aquifer recharge is believed to be the key in helping address Idaho water wars. As always, attended to stand up for Idaho's Town hall is free, but donations are greatly appreciated.

Can I just say, I've talked to so many people that are super thrilled about the outcome of the presidential race last week. Yeah, still, like, I mean, that just matches Idaho and and yeah, I would also say to people, don't be embarrassed that Trump won. I think that there might be still that thing out there where I just don't want to tell anybody, because I don't want to cause it.

Yeah. You don't have to throw it in anyone's face, but don't be embarrassed about it. This is what the country want it. Yeah. You have people on your side. Yeah. You? Well, yeah you do. I mean, I, I think for a lot. We saw a story last week, Julie. We never got around to talking about it. Some lefty and I don't remember who it was.

Doesn't really matter. They were suggesting that their people disassociate from family who voted for Trump. Like, stop associating with with Trump. And I'm like, I mean, there was a snarky part of me that said that solves all the problems. Yeah, no, that's I think you'd have probably a lot of Trump people that would be like, okay, that's right.

But I really don't want to see families get divided over this. And I, I think that we can perfectly coexist just fine. But when you have one side saying you need to divorce yourself from your family, if they supported Trump, that's pretty, that's pretty divisive. Can we talk about how almost all of those people are the same ones that want to divorce their family if they didn't wear a mask or they didn't get the shot?

Yes, maybe it's time liberals look at themselves in the mirror and go, I'm kind of not likable. Yeah. Have I reached guano crazy levels? Yes. Yeah, yeah, some of them have. Not all of them. Not all of them, but some. Some have and some are kind of in between. I, I look at this Julie and I think about and and these are like educated, smart people.

They really think Donald Trump is going to round up transgenders. They think he's completely lawless. They think that he's, going to going to make abortion illegal for every woman across the country. Like, and I'm just like, where did I do you have no sense of, well, maybe the media's been playing me. Maybe they've been concocting these narratives that are designed to make me feel this way.

I don't think so. I don't think so. I think we've seen enough of the rants online that, you know, that it's just where these people live. Yeah, it's almost at a place that you feel bad for them. I do, I kind of pity them, actually. Yeah. I mean, I was disappointed when Biden won. I was disappointed when Barack Obama won, especially the second term.

But you move through it like you in. And I never reached that level of pearl clutching and and overt fear. There was a story about Kamala's stepdaughter, Doug Emhoff, daughter, that she had to be institutionalized. She's come out and said, that's not true. Okay, so I don't know if it is or not. Maybe she had an overnight stay and she just doesn't want to talk about it, I don't know.

She hurled a lot of F-word. So I do know that and Bleep you wouldn't. And I'm like, okay is it? Have we reached that level that our our emotional well-being is that attached to who the president is. Maybe it's a that's a very unfortunate because there's there's things in life that are are very changeable and personal and that you can you can have an a positive or a negative effect on as much as I want a Trump to win this election, I and I've seen the man in person three times.

He doesn't know who I am. I'm not going to change anything that he does. I am stop attaching so much to this person. Yeah, there's so many other things that affect your life so much more. Who? Your lawmakers, who your school board people are that who your mayor is? I mean, what's happening day to day with your children?

Yes. Absolutely. Absolutely. Okay. Speaking of your children, we got to shift into this at some point. Let's do it. Okay. So you had this teacher at Century High School. Yeah. She teaches career and technical education. She got into an online spat with a Trump supporter. And basically told this Trump supporter how ugly he was. Like I sure hope you're I mean there was a built in insult there.

I hope your mistress or your did you see your old friend a girlfriend doesn't have an unwanted pregnancy. And then she's like, oh wait, you'd never have a mistress. And the only way you could get someone pregnant is if you raped them. Like, it just horrible, horrible things. Sadly, we see that kind of those horrible things said on on social media all too often.

Here's the problem. Number one, she's a teacher. And number two, it got to libs of TikTok and libs of TikTok posted it. And that's when all hell broke loose. Yes, yeah. So your thoughts on this okay, so Neil and I've already dissected this, but I, I'm going to let you guys know what I think. She has her First Amendment rights.

She can say whatever she wants to. She can be keyboard warrior whether she is lucid when she's doing it, not lucid when she's doing it. You you can be a keyboard warrior if you want. However, there are certain jobs where when you choose to be keyboard warrior might affect the future of your employment. Yeah, this job that I do would be one of them.

Yes. Okay, I, I fall in the same category as this teacher. If I was a heavy equipment operator on on some just regular private job, it probably wouldn't matter. Yeah. But there are certain jobs that if you go out there and you speak like this, it matters. And I tried to personalize a little bit over the weekend. I was like, okay, people, some people are saying she's a horrible teacher.

Some people are saying she's a good teacher. Whatever. How would have it affected me? And I thought about my son, who went to the Mitt Romney rally that happened in Idaho Falls. Yeah. And he was front and center in the picture that was published in the Post Register. Okay. What if that was that this teacher and my son, in that exact time frame crossed over?

Yeah. Do you think my son would have felt safe in her class? Not at all. No. That is why teachers have a higher expectation. They're supposed to prevent bullying. They're not supposed to be the one doing the bullying. Yeah, so if you're the person out there that is backing this teacher up and saying she can do whatever she wants, and she has a First Amendment right, well, with that comes the consequence.

Yeah. And as a teacher, you're going to have a higher level of consequence than you are in other jobs. So my mike at addendum question to what you've just said, which I agree with 100%, is do are there people out there who think the First Amendment comes without consequence, that you can say what you want and it should be consequence free?

Do they have that expectation? I believe based upon reading the the comments in the you know, it was published in the Idaho State Journal, it was published. He I don't have news which are both online. And then you can read the comments. I think the answer to that is yes. I think there are people who believe that. I think so too, and that that to me is a weird a weird under standing.

But rights are. Yeah. And I also want to ask this question because I think the fact that she's a teacher creates another kind of dynamic because teaching is a career that we give a lot of deference to. Like we like our teachers, we love our teachers. Right. If this was someone who flipped burgers or if they were a construction worker or whatever, that they said something pretty horrific online, it made the employer look bad and they lost their job.

I don't think they'd be as eager to protect that job or that person. I think it's like, oh, she's a teacher. You can't touch her. She's a teacher, you can't fire her. And I'm like, no, your your job is your job and your the words that you say publicly are are the words that you say publicly. And I don't think there's really any job out there that means you get to indulge your First Amendment rights without consequence.

Yeah, right. Well, what's the famous phrase that exists now that we won't say so mess around and find out. Yeah. Doesn't that exist in all aspects of your life? Yes. Mess around and find out. Yeah, she might find out. Yeah. Like we're going to have to see also I when I ask people to think logically about this, I don't know what under what circumstances you were hired at your job, but there are a lot of jobs where you were hired, where you sign a sometimes it's a social media pledge, sometimes it's, I will represent my employer in this way, like you actually sign it.

I don't know what the district 25, what Chubbuck Pocatello district does. I'm going to guess they have some sort of thing that they have to sign about social media. Yeah. I think in the hiring process that you do that, that's going to go directly for or against her, depending upon how that's written. Yeah. Well, and I've seen the same thing to reading the social media comments.

I've seen some people say I'm not surprised I was in this teacher's class and she was horrible to me. I've seen other people say my kid was in the class and she was his favorite teacher, so I don't. And I've had situations where we've had a kid in a class. The teacher was horrible, but other people said my kid was her favorite student.

So teachers can play favorites and it can be a horrible experience for some students. It can be a wonderful experience for some. And so I look at this and also I just pulled up this story. Julie, because this argument that people are making like, well, this teacher, she can do whatever she wants on her own time, she can say whatever she wants.

Well, teachers have been fired because they got an OnlyFans account going. They've been fired because they go out and they drive drunk on a weekend and they get a DUI that has nothing to do with the classroom, but they still lose their job because they're they're representing the district and publicly they are. So that argument doesn't really fly with me that you're if you're in that capacity of representing your employer, what you do off the clock matters.

And they have a right to respond to that. If your behavior rises to the level of being so public like this, I think the employer can protect their own name and and their own interests and, and make a change if they need to. Yeah. I don't get a problem that this is what this woman thought. I think it's kind of ugly.

Whatever. Yeah, maybe she's got a history with this guy. I don't know, you're free to think whatever you want. Jeez. Find yourself a good friend that you can verbally vomit all over. Yeah, you can have a gripe session with. Yeah, don't do it online. No. Agreed. I don't know a you're you're exactly right about that. We don't know what the fate of this teacher is, yet.

And district 25 hasn't really said. What do you think happens if you were to predict. Yeah. I, I've actually thought this question through before you ask me, I don't know I, I, you know what I'll narrow. Well that stupid to say narrow it down to two like she either keeps her job or she doesn't. But I think if she doesn't get fired she's going to be reprimanded.

And on a very short leash after this. So. All right, 846 we'll be back after this. Comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable. 851 On Newstalk. 1078 Neil Larson and Julie Mason on this Monday getting your workweek kicked off. Here. Julie, someone texted in. I don't think that teachers should be fired for what she said while not on the job. You know what? Everyone who can safely text in, text in. Should she be fired or not? Fired? Just say fired or not fired.

We want to know what you think should happen with with this teacher. I would also text back to this person or talk to this person and say, so you believe that your employer doesn't have a right to have you have expectations of how you behave outside of your workforce. Yeah, I think that's what they're saying. Yeah, I, I think that I think that there are just certain jobs that you don't you take that responsibility on when you say yes to the job.

Yeah. Yeah. So far it's unanimous. Fired. Yes. Coming in. Several are saying fired. I you know what I, I wouldn't tell the district how to handle it. But I will not be surprised. Nor would I be heartbroken if if they did. Because I think you know what? These are people that are in direct contact with your kids for hours a day.

We need good role models. And even if what she said isn't illegal, is this the kind of person that you want interacting with our children? Well, I referenced bullying. We just had the horrific video that came out of Rigby High School. We spent, I think, one whole hour talking about that a couple of weeks ago. Yeah, I actually think it was on a Friday, two Fridays ago.

I think we did that and we were horrified by the bullying that was happening. Yeah, this is bullying. Absolutely. It's bullying. And even though it's adult on adult bullying, it's behavior that gets pattern to our kids. That's my issue with this. Yeah, that's why she should be held to a higher standard. Yeah yeah I agree. I also want to add this to people as they think about it.

What if she had started an OnlyFans channel on the site? What if she had gotten a DUI? What I mean is, any outside of the classroom and off the clock behavior acceptable to you? November is a time of giving thanks and getting together with loved ones, but the joys of friends and family can also bring distraction while cooking, which can pose a risk to you and your guests. Unattended cooking is by far the leading reason why there are three times as many cooking fires than average on Thanksgiving Day.

The good news is that with a little bit of vigilance and common sense, most cooking fires can be avoided. Helpful tips include never leaving the kitchen while cooking on the stovetop, never leave the house while cooking in the oven, and check your turkey frequently. Also, remember that the National Fire Prevention Association recommends against deep frying a turkey in oil at all.

But if you must make certain your fryer is on level ground, outdoors and away from the house or deck, have a fire extinguisher nearby and test those smoke alarm batteries before the holiday rush. Your world, your country, your communities. And you. Let's talk about it now on The Neil Larsen Show with co-host Julie Mason. It's.

Hour two. Welcome back on this Monday on Newstalk 1079, it's Neil Larsen along with Julie Mason and Julie. We honor our veterans today. A little later this hour, we will play A Soldier's Pledge once again. And that's that tribute to veterans, with, Ronald Reagan. We also was very pleased to see the headline this morning that, President Trump has already tapped Tom Homan to be the borders are and we're thrilled.

We do not shy away from the title. Borders are no because we have people who are qualified to be the border. Yeah, he actually knows how to do this job. But it's going to be amazing. Yes. And he takes a hard line. He was on 60 minutes recently. You pointed this, this clip to me, Julie. But, here's what he said to Cecilia Vega of 60 minutes.

We have seen one estimate that says it would cost $88 billion to deport a million people a year. I don't know if that's accurate or not. Is that what American taxpayers should expect? What price do you put on national security? Is it worth it? Is there a way to carry out mass deportation without separating families? Of course those families can be deported together.

Okay. Yeah. Do you know what I find interesting about all of this is the media is going to run cover all the time, right? For the Democrat agenda. Whatever. Yeah, they didn't even. Well, how about they look out at the situation from the opposite? The opposite situation, like the opposite view of if we hadn't been so careless with the border, we wouldn't be missing hundreds of thousands of children.

Yeah. She's asking a question like, well, are you going to be able to keep families together? Yeah. Well, how about all of those missing children that happened over the last four years? Those families are not together. Yeah. That's a that's a good point. Right now by the way the IRA there is a ceremony at Arlington. There's an they're laying the wreath.

Should we listen in.

In honor of Veterans Day.

Present please. Should

President. Hanging a wreath on a tripod. Now.

Present.

Like.

Keep up with.

People.

We.

Are no longer so,

Coming.

It's a very interesting ceremonial process, is there? I know this doesn't make fascinating radio, but to watch it happen, is fascinating. And, you're always a little worried about President Biden doing the right thing. Or. But it doesn't appear that he had too many mix up. Yeah, he walked the stairs. Fine. It looks like he did everything fine.

My question would be, do you think they actually spoke? Oh, yeah. I don't know if Biden and Harris actually spoke. They were standing next to each other. That doesn't mean they have talked. Yeah, they didn't appear to have any visible interaction at all. So, very somber playing, I mean, taps itself is somber, but that particular rendition was was very somber as they laid the wreath on Veterans Day at Arlington, at the tomb of the unknown switch.

I've had the the honor of standing in that very spot, you know, a number of times in my life and it's always memorable and, and it's definitely on the list. If you go visit D.C., make sure you go here. It's a wonderful place to be. Yeah, it really is. All right. It's 914 on Newstalk 1079. Neil sing along with Julie Mason on this Veterans Day.

And by the way, if you'd like to reach us, the phone is open. On the fall River propane call and text line (208) 542-1079. We'd love to hear from you this morning. Whether it's Veterans Day or the teacher in pokey who faces, I think right now, kind of an uncertain future after posting some well, I think most people would say some terrible things online.

We also have the football over the weekend, if you like BYU and ISU and the Aberdeen Tigers. It was a very good weekend. And BSU and Boise State had a good weekend too. Yeah, yeah. So all around pretty good. Yeah I had the opportunity to interview a veteran on Saturday for the We Share podcast. I and, I just thought I'd take a moment to, reference one of the things we talked about.

He's a veteran that served he was, hit with, like a, a bomb came up and exploded against his body. Really harmed a whole bunch of his nerves on one side of his body. And he was serving in the Marines, and he was awarded a Purple Heart for that. We went through all of his service. So I would highly recommend when that podcast comes out on Wednesday, listening to it.

If you'd like to know about Nick Carson's service in the Marines, however, I asked him, how do you, remember Veterans Day? You know, I'm sure it's different for veterans than it is for me or you. They just have a different experience. So I asked him how he remembered Veterans Day, and he said, it is not a day thing for me.

It is, throughout this time, as it gets close, I start calling my friends. I start calling my fellow, servicemen. I check on them, and he said, I know the demons I have suffered and I know they are suffering exactly the same way. Yeah. And he said, if you don't know how to remember Veterans Day, find a veteran and talk to them.

That will help because they suffer from a lot of, just it's something especially if you have fought in combat. It just does not go away. It's with you all the time. Yeah. And then shout out him and, Stewart, Johnson, I believe, is his last name. They own American built clothing company in Pocatello. So, if you're wanting to support a veteran, that's a great way to do that as well.

That's great. That's great. Good. Good for him. (208) 542-1079 and, let's go to the phones. The president is going to, speak very soon. We're hearing at the Veterans Day ceremony. We'll carry some of that. But, let's take a phone call or two here. Caller go ahead. How are you this morning? Doing better than I deserve. Happy Veterans Day to all of my federal veterans.

And if you guys want to know how you can best think of that, we need the love of all of is holy. Stop electing people who use us as pawns to further their agendas. In that spirit, I'm going to put a call out to every idahoan to please call Senator Risch and Crapo and demand that they publicly support an open ballot for the Senate Minority Leader and support Rick Scott for Senate Minority Leader, because Thune and Cornyn are anything but actual conservatives.

Okay. All right. Thank you for the call. That's another brewing controversy. Julie, that I was disappointed to see Cornyn get so much support. He he's part of the swamp. And I you know, I look at this remember last week when he said, I said this and I think it was premature on my part. I said the majority leader, in the absence of of Mitch McConnell, will be whoever Trump wants it to be.

And I was wrong on that. It appears that it's not going to be, Rick Scott who the president well, President Trump wants. And in fact, John Thune basically told Trump to butt out of the process here. And there's a couple of lines of thinking, because you do want a separation of powers. You don't want the executive branch telling the legislative branch how to operate.

But at the same time, if you're Donald Trump, you know who you want to work with in the Senate. And I think the president's opinion matters here. And from what we're hearing, it appears that both Senators Risch and Crapo appear poised to be backing John Cornyn. And, so, I don't know, you can view it a number of different ways.

I my personal preference would be Rick Scott, but, maybe there's a lot more dynamics than we know about. Maybe. And I think there is a whole bit of play that's going on here. There's been some talk that the reason Mitch McConnell stepped down in the middle of November, when he gave that date, was so that this could be manipulated in this in this fashion.

Yeah. He didn't have to do it this way. So I and yeah, I think we're foolish to believe that everybody who is currently serving in government is backing Trump. Yeah, that's just inaccurate. Think about the way he was treated the first time he was there. Yeah. So yeah. And what has happened. So what the caller was referencing is the vote will be by secret on Wednesday.

You don't have to declare here voting for there has been internal leaking and those it has been said whether it's accurate or not, I have no idea has been said that Senator Crapo and Senator Risch will be voting for John Cornyn from Texas. Yeah. Again, we don't know this for sure. Like you said, these are leaks.

But, yeah, I don't know. I'd like to I'd like to find out more. Let's go back to the phones. Hi, caller. How are you on that? Caller how are you? Good. How are you doing today? Doing pretty well of all. I would. Great. First of all, I'd like to just thank all of our veterans out there and I also want to include anyone who serves in any type of public capacity like firefighters, police, EMT, all those that do everything to support us.

And then just a quick comment, I, I call it the crack principle. I think there's, a majority of Democrats this past election who finally woke up, took their head out of the sand and decided, I don't like the way this party is going. And I think I see a little bit of maybe there's a little bit of the crack principle happening in California where there's going to be more and more Republicans or Democrats that are going to decide, I don't like what I'm seeing, and I'm going to switch over to the Republican Party.

Yeah. And that's why I appreciated your comments and your commentary this last hour. Yeah. Well thank you. I appreciate your, comments and your kind words. Julie, let's take a break. We are expecting the president to speak, and maybe by the time we get back, he'll. Okay, he'll be ready. All right. It's, 921 on Newstalk 1078 live local stimulating talk for East Idaho, the Neil Larson Show podcast.

Grab it every day at noon. Oh, why Cornyn I don't know controllable maybe. Maybe I don't know. I do think a secret ballot is crap, though. I, I don't love the secret ballot because you're employed by Americans. Yeah. Why are you hiding what you're doing? Right? Yeah. Why don't Idahoans have the right to know who you're supporting? Is a is a majority leader.

There's Biden, he's starting to talk here. I'm going to save this and we'll get back to him. Do we have a minute? You think I don't know what they're doing? What? Oh, they're obviously waiting for something. Is there are they playing? Is the band playing? I guess I'll, I'll, It looks like the band's playing because the flutes are up to their mouths.

Okay, so we probably have a second here. I'll keep these rolling, I had to take some heat from a BYU fan earlier. What did you do? When Neil and I talked about the BYU Utah game, I. I said I felt like BYU had a horrible game. I didn't feel like they played well. Clock management was bad in the first half.

I had watched several. I didn't stay up and watch the second half, but I had watched a whole bunch of plays. As I said, I felt like the refs were bad for both sides and some devout BYU fans sent in that there are multiple receivers that will play in the NFL from BYU, and I was off the mark, so I guess we'll see.

Time will tell. Time will tell. Yeah, I'm feeling pretty confident that you're not going to be right about that, but time will tell. Yeah, yeah, it's funny. So Aberdeen beat I think priest River it wasn't even close really. It was like 42 to 19 or for them. Yeah for them. So I think they have a good shot at the state championship.

As you Bengal men's basketball plays tonight at home okay. First home game. Are you going down. Yeah. All right. Yep Mary. 925 on Newstalk 1079 Neil Olson along with Julie Mason and you. (208) 542-1079 is the number if you'd like to join us this morning. We are awaiting hearing from President Joe Biden. He'll be speaking at Arlington at the Veterans Day ceremony there.

And, Julie, it's interesting to watch this because there aren't a lot of public speeches left for Joe Biden to give. As president. And do you feel like he ever since Kamala lost and there was a rift between those two, that he's sort of returned to the Joe Biden of before, maybe a little bit. He does seem a little more vibrant.

Yeah, I would say that. I was also point out, since this is radio and you can't see the live shot comments. Not with him. Now. You're right, she's over on this side with Doug. Yeah. So they're currently not a new United front, even though they were both standing in front of the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They were they were not.

That's interesting optics observation there. To to say the least. So, yeah, I don't, I don't know, let's, listen in, okay. It looks like the, Military Orchestra's playing right now, so we'll just let this run in the background, right? That's beautiful. They have three gigantic, flags hanging directly behind Biden. Yeah. It's beautiful. Yeah, it really is a beautiful.

It looks like a beautiful morning in the nation's capital, too. They've had a warm stretch. I guess it got up to, like, 80 degrees last week. Yeah. Election day was really warm for them. Yeah, in more ways than one. So, Yeah. No, I've just noticed that Biden seems like he's unshackled now. Like he's like, you don't control me anymore.

What are you going to do? You know, so we're close enough now. They're not going to 25th amendment him. Yeah. Hello. And there's not a lot of love lost, I don't think. I don't think there's a lot of. Yeah. Warm and fuzzy hanging out at the holidays that's going to happen between these people. You know, I think that when you look at, political soap operas gone by, these are the kinds of rifts that last for years, if not forever.

And it wouldn't surprise me if once this presidency is over, the Bidens in the Harris's don't ever interact again. Yeah. I wouldn't be surprised. I, I bet they still haven't interacted. Yeah I think you're right I guess I think you're right I to show up for this scheduled Veterans Day event. I bet they haven't interacted well. And what do you think?

We talk about the inauguration, which is going to happen here in a little over two months. As as we look at that, that's obviously going to be a tough day for Kamala Harris. She wanted to be the one raising her hand and taking the oath of office. And she won't be. But should she be spared that pain?

I don't think so. I don't I don't I think that that's part of her job. That's part of the risk you take. Isn't that just what you're a. Every job has things you don't like to do. Yeah. She doesn't get to design this job to do only the things she wanted to do. That's part of the reason she's currently not the president.

Because she didn't do anything as vice president. Yes. Right. So I at some point you got to put on your big girl pants. Yeah, right. Speaking of that, since Biden's not going to speak for a minute, somebody else is speaking. Did you see any of the opening monologue for Saturday Night Live? Yes I did, did you see the comedian talking about why did she insist upon wearing the pantsuits nonstop?

Oh, I saw a different skit. I must not have been the opening. Yeah, well, I think there was the sad version of all of the. Yeah, actors and actresses are the saying they supported Trump all along. Yeah, the ensemble, whatever. And then a comedian came out and he gave his little stretch and he said, why, you're a woman.

Women, you know the power you have. Why are you putting yourself in an ugly pantsuit every day?

That's really funny. That's good. Someone said this. Julie, I'll I'll let you. I have my own response. Why are you afraid to talk about the betrayal for the Idaho Senators? Call them out. Give out their phone numbers, tell people to call them. Are you betraying Trump and MAGA to protect our senators? Okay, first of all, we don't even know if the leak thing is real, right?

I'm not going to go and call Senator Crapo and Senator Rich horrible names when I don't even know it's true. Can I also add this Trump, when the presidency he won the right to oversee the executive branch? He does not have unfettered power. Okay. It's the U.S. Senate that will decide who their Senate majority leader is. And I honor and respect those boundaries.

If Trump can find a way to have more influence, then that's fine. But he's not a king and we don't kiss the ring. Okay, that's up to the Senate to decide. And that's how it should be via separation of powers. So we don't live a fraid you might interpret it that way. I'd like to see both Ryan Crapo support Rick Scott, but that is their call to make, not Donald Trump's.

So and we're dial it back. We will we will ask them that question. Depending upon how things happen. They're not on our schedule. The interview where we're bound to their schedules. So they're not on Earth. We will not be interviewing, Senator Crapo this Wednesday. He starts up again with us next Wednesday. So a week from Wednesday. Yeah, we will ask him, but we also don't know if that's the way they're going to vote.

There's plenty of things that get leaked all over X that aren't accurate. Yes. So but we're not going to devote the whole show to this and, and create, you know, I'm sure that they're getting a lot of calls and pressure to go a certain way on this. Well, and to to go to the text, if you feel like you should call the senator or send them an email, please.

Do we still your their boss. You should. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway. Okay. Okay. We're good. I'm good. Yeah I'm good. Yeah. Okay. 208542107I truly you know what? We've been very surprised. People are not calling in about this teacher. I thought that would be I did too. We did it. Like I said, when we were talking about it in the last hour, we did a whole almost hour on it.

Yeah. On a I think it was a Friday two weeks ago. Yeah. On Rigby High School. And the bullying that happened there, I thought we would get near the same reaction with this. Yeah. We haven't kind of surprised by that. Yeah, I am surprised by that. We have we've had a couple of texts though, where people imply that you can do anything legal you want, outside of work hours, and it shouldn't affect your employment.

That's not how employment works. I, I don't know, I just never, never lived that way. I thought, I've always been raised and I've always done my jobs as there's an expectation for me to represent well, yeah, in my job. So if I was a teacher and I was caught bullying another adult online, I would expect some retribution. Yeah, that's my frame of mind.

It's legal. It's perfectly legal for me to bully somebody online. Yeah, it doesn't mean it's good business practice. Well, no, it it doesn't. And and furthermore, I will tell you stories like this are gold to lawmakers like Wendy Harmon wanting to pass a school choice bill. So if you're a public school official and you want to retain the kids that are coming to your school, you don't want teachers like this that are modeling, bullying very publicly.

Okay. So from a competitive standpoint, you've got to get teachers that are smarter than that and behave better than that. Yeah. I look there's lots of other jobs. Let's say you're in a sales job and your job consisted of like a majority of your salary was commission. Yeah. That's how you make your money and you go around bullying people online.

It's legal. It's going to harm your career. Yes. This isn't just a teacher thing. You know, I, I feel like, we sort of had a situation like this where people think the law is what they want it to be. Yet you remember, we had we had good, long discussions about if someone breaks into your home, you don't have the right to just shoot them because they broken into your home.

They actually have to be threatening you, and you have to believe your own life is in danger. Legitimately believe that in order to shoot them. Okay. And but people would call insisting, oh no, if they break into my house, I get to shoot them because they're in my house. That's not the law yet. You may want it that way.

That's not how it works. And the truth is, if you're an employee, yes, you can be justifiably fired for doing things that are perfectly legal, even off the clock. If you become a bigger problem for your employer than your worth. Yeah, so I I'm going to go back to this person I'm sure has has signed a social media contract of some sort.

Yeah. This is standard procedure. Sexual harassment contracts, social media contracts. It happens in lots of jobs. And so I, I, we might say it's legal or you might be texting it and saying it's legal. She might have exceeded a boundary that she had agreed to in her job. Yeah. And that if you do that you get fired. Yeah.

If I work at Arby's and I show up in a Burger King shirt and I insist on it, I haven't done anything illegal. But I can assure you, you're probably getting fired. Yeah. All right, let's go to the phones. I do want to let you know we may cut away to hear the president's remarks at Arlington, this morning, but, caller, go ahead.

How are you today? I'm doing good. My son's going to be going to century next year. And so I heard about this, and I was like, it felt icky. But I think the reason that I haven't really got all up in arms about it is I'm still feeling good from, you know, Trump get the, pardon.

I like his honest evaluation of his emotions. Right. Yes. But, also it's, you know, we on both sides were so quick to, like, jump up and, like, just burn someone at the stake. And I'm like, okay, even though I do, you know, just the rhetoric that she was spreading. I'd like to see her snubbed out, but, not snubbed out, but, you know, not in the school anymore.

Yeah. I was just like, okay, let the let the admin school administration look through it first and then we, like, go from there. Yeah. Let's take a breath. You know what? I like that measured approach. And, and I think a conversation needs to be had with her saying, so what happened here? Because, you know, we we work really hard to teach our kids to not bully.

And you bullied that guy very publicly. And so do you plan on holding fast to this? Like what? What is your plan in us deciding whether or not we continue as a good fit together? What is your plan going forward and find out where she's at with this. If she doubles down and says, oh yeah, and I'll keep doing it, then you'll be like, okay, well, you've just made the decision for us.

So, right. And it does appear that the post is gone, she and I, I'm not sure if she's completely shut off her, her social media, but it does look like she has, you could interpret that lots of ways. It could. You could interpret it as she is very regretful and wow, did she get a lot of backlash.

You could also interpret it as I know what I did was right, and I'm not going to listen to what you people have to say about me. I'm going to take this stance on it, no matter what reason. If she if she did shut down her media, her social media, no matter what reason, I wouldn't play in the sandbox.

If you're not willing to get sand between your toes. Yeah, yeah, that's a that's a good analogy. I also think look at Biden real quick. What's going on with him? What is that. No, he's reading his speech, his mouth half open, and he's just sitting there holding his speech up in front of his face, and he's just was weird.

Okay. Yeah. Sorry. All right. Let's take another call really quickly. Caller. Go ahead. We just have a short amount of time here. I agree with everything you say, Neil and Julie. I think then it was not very proper. Based Mar for him having that role as a teacher to publicly bully somebody else and and then expect them.

We should just look the other way and say, okay, no, it isn't okay. And he makes you wonder how she probably behaves in the classroom with if he finds out any student, then probably support the party that she doesn't like. You know, it makes you wonder if how even she treats their students. I mean, being in class. When I went to college, I had a teacher in political science.

Then he didn't like conservative students, and she used he bully and make fun of the students and wouldn't let us speak in the classroom. And and she was horrible grading our papers. He want us to fail his class. And so that's something that I think is not acceptable. That kind of behavior when a him should be an example of being more in control of her opinion.

Not her place. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you for the call. Well stated. I can actually answer pilot the caller's question here. We got a text that said my daughter has this teacher right now, and prior to this, she didn't know which way. The teacher leaned politically. But now her daughter is afraid that the to be in the teacher's class.

She's worried the teacher will find out that she's conservatives because she's afraid she'll be targeted now. Yeah, that that was the point we made waiting. We initially talked about this is that the teacher should be the example of no bullying. And now that the teacher has shown that she will bully somebody online. Yeah. What does that do to the students in her class, whether or not she's done it in class or not?

Right. It creates a it creates an atmosphere. Yeah. So we've had a couple of people text in there like I miss this story about the teachers. So here's the really quick version. A career in technical education teacher at Century High School was in an online spat. It was over the Trump victory from last week. And there was a gentleman, I don't know if she previously knew him or not, or they were just going at it and, anonymous to each other or not known to each other.

Anyway, his name's Michael, but she said, I hope your mistress or daughter have an unwanted pregnancy. Wait, I looked at your picture. You don't have a mistress and probably never got anyone to have a daughter by you unless it was by force. And, again she said seriously, Michael, cover your profile picture. You are pathetic looking and are opening yourself to ridicule.

Everyone will know you can't get a woman and don't have children unless you forced yourself on some poor woman. These are horrible things to say to someone I if there is bullying. That's a prime example. Yes it is, yes. And if she's also signed an anti-bullying pledge, which a lot of the school teachers have to do, it's some sort of an agreement that if I see bullying, I'll report it and I she should be held to a standard that she shouldn't bully.

Yes. Yeah. Agreed. Agreed. I mean, this is just like I said, it's, you know, look, it's right after a very hotly contested election. And I'll give grace for people. Let's give a period of time if this teacher has a sit down with the administration and she's very, very penitent and will issue a public apology and make it very clear that she's sorry for what she did, I'd as an administrator, I'd probably give her a second chance and just say, look, you can't ever let this happen again.

We we try to teach kids to not do this. And here you are doing it. I feel like we also need to offer her something that we've offered other people in East Idaho who've had bad days. We had a law enforcement official in East Idaho who and I'm not going to bring the whole story back up, but he he was frustrated with some people being on his property, and he acted inappropriately.

And he did step down from his job. Yeah. But when that was all happening, we said it's really horrible when you have the worst day of your life and everyone gets to see it. Yes. I hope this this is actually the worst that this woman ever is that this was one of the worst days of her life, and that she has a long history of not having days like this.

Well, yeah, I mean, part of me, I vehemently disagree with her and the sentiments we probably disagree politically based on what we've learned about what she believes. At the same time, I, I you don't want somebody's life ruined over a singular moment where nobody got destroyed, nobody got, you know, physically hurt or whatever. But we need to expect more of our teachers.

And I think that's one of the reasons why I like libs of TikTok. I'm hopeful that every liberal teacher out there kind of lives in fear of being the next libs of TikTok, that they're more careful with their words and what they put out on social media. I like that they live in some level of fear they should.

So, I was reading comments on one of the social media posts about this, and some man went off about how this is why we shouldn't follow sham sites like libs of TikTok. All they put up is trash and I'm like, they don't even generate their own content, right? They put up other people's words and let the public make a decision.

So I'm not really sure how libs of TikTok is a sham organization. Right. I it's just evidence, right? Yeah. It's all here. You make your own decision. I'll show you the tweets. You make your own, I'll show you the Facebook posts. You make your own decisions. Yes. Right. I know it's great. It's it's good. So, again, I.

Yeah, I don't know, I don't I some people like, that we just explain it to that didn't know they said thanks. She should be fired. So. Okay. I'm okay also that people have an opinion about this, especially those who have kids who go to that school. Yeah, you're the ones that affects. I don't have kids in that district.

Yeah, yeah. For sure. Okay. 944 we still haven't heard from, the president. Still gotta keep reading his speech. He does. Okay, well, let's let's take a break really quick. Maybe when we come back, President Biden will giving his will be giving his Veteran's Day remarks at Arlington on Newstalk 107 eight. Someone asked if I've rubbed it in on issues when I think you could do more.

Okay. Yeah. Okay. Here. Okay. Since we've talked sports a lot today and one we haven't and we won't get to, it's 945. I don't know if you guys remember Nick Bosa from the San Francisco 40 Niners post game ran on screen during an interview and he was wearing a Make America Great hat again a white one. And there was a lot of talk.

The league would find him. The league did over $10,000, for jumping in and wearing that hat. Well, yesterday during the 40 Niners game, I think Nick got the sack. I'm not. I think it was Nick Bosa. Got the sack. Yeah. Jumped up him and four of his teammates did the Trump dance to celebrate okay. There's nothing they can do about that right.

No they can't okay. They let people celebrate with dances all the time. You can't specifically choose one. Yeah. And they were black teammates right. Like this was that's so great. And and Nick was interviewed and he double down and said go ahead and find me. I'm not changing who I am okay. Can I, I it, I saw something online and I remember hearing about this before.

But back in the early 80s, the NBA had this weird rule that shoes had to be at least 50% white, like the shoes that that they were wearing. Well, Nike and and if you didn't, it was like a $5,000 fine. Hold on. We got to go back on here. 947 on Newstalk 1079 still wait. We may not get to the president this hour.

We're we're not going to disrupt our news at the top for this anyway. But, Julie was talking about Nick Bosa and 40 Niners. 40 Niners. Yeah. He got fined over $10,000 for jumping into a post interview wearing a Make America Great hat. Yeah. And the league find him $10,000 for that in the game yesterday. Post a sack or something.

Him and three of his teammates jumped up and they did the Trump dance. Yes it's great. Now here's a clip. If you could be fined for your hat for ten. I don't know. I haven't going yet. But if it comes, it comes. Did you know that going in that that that could be a possibility. Yeah, yeah, cause well worth a lot.

Why do you why do you feel compelled, you know, Oh, I don't think my, I don't know, it's position on speaking about it is going to change. All right. So he's he's doubling down. He's like, I support Trump. I'm not going to let's just not speak it. It's worth it. And, so look I know it's a different league.

But if LeBron James can talk about defunding the police he doesn't get fined for that does he? I don't think so. And I it's interesting what deserves a fine and doesn't. Yeah I also saw that they find I think I'm going to pick the wrong team here. But I believe it was a Vikings player that after a big play he did finger guns.

Yeah. As part that's right. Yeah he did finger guns as part of his like celebration of a first down I believe. Yeah. And he got fined big time. But Patrick Mahomes did finger guns after something big and he didn't get fined okay. So I how arbitrary are these rules. Yeah. It's a it's a it's a good question, but it reminds me, Julie, of, an instance I just read about this, but I remember, a few years ago hearing about it in the mid 80s, the NBA had a rule that the shoes that were worn by the athletes had to be at least 50% white.

Now, I don't know, it seems like a dumb rule to me, but I guess they wanted some uniformity there. Well, Michael Jordan and Nike both agreed that he was going to wear their new Air Jordans, which were not like they were mostly red and, and, he got a $5,000 fine. And Nike was like, this is the best $5,000 we ever spent because there were so many headlines about these shoes that this new NBA star was wearing, and it sold millions of dollars worth of shoes, that that five grand was nothing.

And, I feel like when you look at, you know, Harrison Kerr gives a speech, how many weeks did that stay? And look at how much money he's made on UN merch. Nick, I can guarantee you it's going to be the same way. He doesn't care about having to pay it. How much was the fine? It's a little over 10,000.

Okay, that that's going to be nothing for him. He makes millions and he'll sell millions more in merchandise because he's willing to to to take the fine and stand up for what he believes. You might even have a donor who sends him a $10,000 check and says, thank you for advertising for Trump. I mean, that could easily happen.

So I yeah, I don't understand why it was worthy of it. Especially it was post game. I don't know what the rules are. I and like I said, I think some of these rules are very arbitrary because why is it okay for yeah. Them to, you know, certain players to have like Black Lives Matter across the back of their helmet.

But Nick Bosa can't have a hat that says Make America Great Again. It's a great question. Yeah. Which what's wrong with making America great I don't know I that's I mean I don't know who gets to decide these rules. Who gets to decide what if what if you had a hat that said, I want America to be awesome?

Would you not get a fine because this is a trump? What if it says make the USA great? Yes I yeah, no I yeah I will also say this and maybe the league knows this. This is actually really good for the NFL. Yeah it draws people in. They get loyalty. Behind these players. It it only benefits them.

Yeah I don't know. I just laughed about it because I thought, okay, whatever. You know who became the hero here? Nick Bosa you know who's not the hero the NFL. And if you want to keep being the bad guy the NFL, you just go right ahead and keep being the bad guy. Yeah, yeah. Hey someone reminded me, have I rubbed it in enough that ASU beat Weber State on the road?

And the answer to that is no. No, I have not. Can that be ever be a cheat? No. You can't quite ever get there. It's like the speed of light you get and you never quite get there. You can't quite ridicule and rub it in enough. When Weber State gets beat by the banks. Go, Bengals! Yes! Tell what was the score again 43 to 35.

So it wasn't even just a squeak by. It was a good game. It was a very good game. We had a couple of drives where we looked like we were trying to lose it, but now we got things turned around, kept the lead and it was it was a very, very good and much needed road win. We haven't beat Weber on their turf in 40 years.

So that long. Yeah it's been 8084 was last time we won in Ogden in football. So what is this week. What is oh I know I in fact I was going to post the win the screenshot of the Bengal win and and say I am so sick of winning this week. But I thought, no, I, I, I'm just going to be a purist Bengal fan and enjoy that win because there's lots of Bengal fans that are distraught over the presidential race.

So yeah, but with this audience, I can you can say that and they'll applaud with you. Yes. So, anyway, yeah, it's it's just been a great it's just been a great week all around. My Aberdeen Tigers in the playoffs, they destroyed priest River. Okay. So now they're playing for state. Yeah. They're semifinals. Yeah. So I think it's down to four teams now.

Okay. If they win this weekend, then they'll play for the championship I believe so yeah. Wow. That feels late. Does it. Maybe they are maybe maybe I I'll have to look and see what the bracket okay. Like it could be that late. I mean it could. That just feels so late because I bet basketball practice starts soon, so.

Yeah. Yeah, yeah. And and I'm a very fair weather BYU fan. I'm, I'm thrilled to see them doing so well this year. They're undefeated. And you know they, they could get really close to a national championship this year. So we'll we'll see. So I been following them and I, I never dislike BYU unless I issues playing them but I, I so yeah I'm I'm going to root for the Cougars to winning so.

Right. So they beat Utah in the in the holy war this weekend. Yeah. Wasn't their best game to to watch the skill that they actually have. So and that could be just because they were playing in the Holy where maybe they showed up and it just wasn't the best atmosphere for them. They've had better games than than they had this weekend.

But they did win. Yeah. All right. We've got to take a quick break and we'll come back and wrap it up after this. All right. President started speaking, but he's kind of started too late because we're not going to move programing for it. I mean we're glad he's speaking on Veterans Day, but he doesn't look as bright as he did the other day when he spoke after the, the Kamala's loss, I would agree with, he put this in.

I he's wearing a special veteran's tie, too. Oh. Is it? Yeah. He doesn't usually wear a tie with design on it. Return home. And when they don't, it's an obligation. Okay. I don't like yelling. Biden. Hey, it's an obligation. I know, I just I feel like I'm on his lawn and I'm. He's telling me to get off.

No, you're right. Somebody else texted and said the coming weekend is semifinals. Okay? You're right. It does feel late, doesn't it? It does feel late. But maybe that's just the way they designed the season this year. Yeah, I know someone sent us that said you need to watch the BYU professor. That thing that I sent you.

Oh, yeah. There's way. So there's so much to cover, right? Yeah. Well, the other thing about lives of TikTok, man, have they been busy for the last four days because so many people did things like this teacher in Pocatello did. Yes. They've had nonstop things to run with. Yeah. Oh, they're going to Erin Bingham. They're doing a school voucher.

We need to talk about this. Okay. Yeah. Because somebody asked, Maria Hatch sent me information on it as well. Okay. Did the $40,000 fine for the Utah ads feel a little steep? Yeah, I thought so too. Yeah, he'll probably appeal that if it. I like what that process is, I don't know. And and what's the time frame that they have to pay it.

Yeah I don't know. Do they just garnishes. Well what if, what if what if alumni step out. That's true. And pays it for him. Like, it would be interesting to know what the whole process is and how people skirt it and get around it. And yeah. AOC asked her followers on Instagram who voted for her and Trump for an explanation.

She shared the responses. I saw them and x. I thought it was pretty interesting and thought maybe you guys would too. I think if I followed AOC on Instagram and I voted for Trump, I don't think I'd say much. I think if you followed AOC on Instagram, your head might explode. I think you're probably right about that. I know that's true.

Neil Neil had to use the block feature on a couple of local people because his head was exploding and he's like, I'm not doing this to myself. I'm getting rid of it for a minute. I'm not. I don't want to think less of them. Like my head wasn't about to explode, but I just thought they know better. Yeah.

All right. It's 958. That's going to do it for the show today. The president is speaking at Arlington, but he started too late for us to cover it here.
