The Neal Larson Show
10.9.2024 -- NLS -- Kamala Harris, LDS Political Neutrality, and the Battle Over Abortion Rights
On this episode of the Neal Larson Podcast, Neal and Julie discuss several topics ranging from Kamala Harris’s public speaking to the importance of civil discourse in political conversations. Kamala Harris appears to be articulating coherent thoughts, it's likely a result of rehearsed responses, suggesting that unscripted moments may reveal a different picture. He also touches on parenting, drawing an analogy to taking a firm approach with kids and making clear the consequences of their actions.
In addition, the show delves into recent statements from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which reaffirmed its position on political neutrality, encouraging members to engage civically while maintaining Christlike love and civility. Neal points out how this ties into the church’s strong stance on abortion and contrasts it with the current political climate, specifically referencing Kamala Harris’s efforts to garner support from Latter-day Saint communities.
Finally, the episode addresses the controversial topic of abortion, discussing its framing in political discourse and posing thought-provoking questions around its implications for different communities. Neal and Julie also provide information about local efforts related to Proposition 1 and encourage civic engagement. Throughout, Neal emphasizes the need for moral integrity and civil dialogue, particularly in divisive times.

And.
Your answers. No one.
You loot, we shoot. You never know what's behind that door. If you go break into somebody's house and you're trying to loot. These are people that are going to be able to defend themselves and their family. And the idea that somebody would be playing political games for the sake of himself. But this is so consistent about Donald Trump.
He puts himself before the needs of other. I fear that he really lacks empathy. Good morning. It is 807 on a Wednesday on Newstalk 1079, it's the Neil Larson Show and the fall River propane call. And right now text line (208)Â 542-1079. We'd love to hear from you. I think we, I have a theorem. Can I put forward my theorem?
I don't even know what a theorem is, but it sound. It makes me sound smart. If I say it. But here's my theorem. My theorem is if Kamala Harris has coherent thoughts that she is expressing, it's very, very likely she has rehearsed it, that she has had a question in advance, and she's had time to think through and put forward the ideas.
And you see this from time to time with rallies where she gives speeches that are identical to previous rallies. By the way, that's not that's not exclusive to Kamala or even the Democrat Party. Republicans do this too. However, in this one off interview that she has with The View, she seemed particularly coherent in going after Donald Trump, and it was very out of character for her.
So do I think either she had the questions in advance, or the Harris campaign gave the view that questions in advance? Yes, yes, I do, and I'd say that unapologetically. I don't even think it's really that big of a conspiracy theory. And I would also add to that I don't really view the view. View the view. I don't really view the view as a journalistic experience.
I don't like, I expect out of 60 minutes or a CNN interview if Jake Tapper, Dana Bash, or Fox News with, Bret Baer, Martha, those I view those situations as journalistic. They have a requirement to ask the tough questions, or at least the obligation I require. They clearly don't meet that requirement, but they have an obligation to ask the tough questions.
I have much lower expectations of the view. The view has been around for a long time, and they are sycophants of the left, and they hate everything on the right for the most part. So I guess I'm I'm applying, now, do I think there is still an ethical concern if she goes on and takes on policy issues in the midst of a presidential campaign, and it's not disclosed that she knew the questions in advance.
Yeah, I think there is is one there. So you had that also, you, heard the clip with Ron DeSantis. I love this. I, I have always been a proponent of Ronald Reagan's peace through strength doctrine and because it can be applied in so many areas, it can with with Reagan, it was typically attributed to his military philosophy that if you have a strong military, people leave you and your allies alone.
And that is demonstrably true. Not not absolutely, but in general, if you have the power to kick anybody's rear end, if they get out of line, they usually leave you alone. So you take that principle, you can apply that and not even really with fit. I don't want to imply there's physical abuse here, but in parenting, taking a firm approach and letting your kids know what consequences are if they do certain things very important for kids and in their upbringing to have that, I and I will be the first to state I have not always been the best parent that way, but I absolutely view that as an important piece.
It's also true with law enforcement. If you know that you try to punch a cop, it's not going to turn out well for you. If you try to harm a cop, it's not going to turn out well for you. Then you don't. We don't get peace through timidity. We don't get peace through some liberals reimagine policing garbage.
So here's Ron DeSantis, and he's holding a, press conference and speaking very openly. And he does not want the aftermath of a hurricane or the before math of a hurricane. I don't know what the word for that would be, but, to turn into a lawless anarchy. And he had this to say, and I've seen signs in different people's yards in the past.
After these disasters. And I would say it's probably here you loot, we shoot. You never know what's behind that door. If you go break into somebody's house and you're trying to loot, these are people that are going to be able to defend themselves and their families. So. So I would not do it. We are going to hold you accountable from a law enforcement perspective at a minimum.
And it could even be worse than that, depending on what's behind that door. So let's all band together and lift people up and not try to take advantage of a difficult situation. So the left hears this kind of stuff, and I don't understand the left fully, but I understand them enough to know that when they hear Ron DeSantis, the way they translate it in their broken brains is he's encouraging violence against people.
No, he's dissuading violence. He's deterring violence and vandalism and theft and criminality. This is exactly what needs to be out there. So I love it. I but I will say this, I know that you know what my faith is, but I will say I'm a work in progress and there is an inner unchristian non-Christian in me that is always happy when the left loses it.
I don't I'm I've been working on it, okay? I've been trying to process this part of me that recognizes when liberals are having conniption fits, typically good things are happening. Like, that's usually good for common sense. It's good for America. It's good for people in general when the left is losing their ever loving minds. And so I, I don't know if I like it's not it's not pleasure in their misery.
Maybe a little. But that's not entirely it. It's more about if they're upset then that probably means something good's happening. So good for governor DeSantis also wanted to address this issue. We talked about it a little bit earlier this morning, but I know many people tune in at 8:00 and, listen to the program and maybe didn't catch our earlier thoughts and, and comments.
And so I want to address this now a statement was released yesterday by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, and they restated their policy of political neutrality, which they they often do this in the midst of a presidential election or maybe a midterm. You know, a big political things are going on, and there's lots of lots of words flying and lots of accusations creating a a hurricane Milton all its own.
And so they want to bring calm. And they said, look, we need to be civil with each other, and we want all of our membership and the world to know that we are politically neutral. We don't take a position on candidates. We don't take a position on parties, we don't, take a position on policy unless there is a highly moral component to the policy.
So and that's a very typical statement for the church to give. It's almost a copy and paste. Like if you went back in the news archives, you would find perhaps word for word statements that had been given in the past. What I find interesting about this particular statement, and maybe it's happened before and I wasn't paying attention, but I noticed it this time.
They have dovetailed their message of political neutrality and civility with their strong stance on abortion. I think think about that in the midst of a presidential election where one candidate is clearly pro-life, he is so proud that he nominated justices that went on to overturn Roe v Wade. Now he's not as pro-life as some. He's not pro as pro-life on IVF or mifepristone.
And some of those early in the pregnancy or early in embryonic development. So I'm not going to say full throated Donald Trump is 100% pro-life. But I would say in general, he absolutely could be considered pro-life. And I don't think, you know, Melania gave a statement a few days ago, let's not muss this conversation up with that, because we're talking about Donald Trump, the candidate on the other side.
You have a candidate who believes that that children, babies before they are born can be murdered. They don't use those words, but those are accurate words up until the point of birth. And when you press them on that, they might say something like, well, I personally find it reprehensible, but it's not the government's role to tell a woman what to do with her body.
They always run to that. They will not. Then the position of the Democrat Party, and it's been this way for, gosh, close to a decade now, is that at no point, from conception to birth, up until the point of birth, there should be any regulation of protection of that child. They they simply do not believe that anymore, at least officially.
Now you talk to some and they're like I personally find it represents lots of people will personally find it reprehensible. Well, that's that's fine. But isn't this an issue that when we're talking about murder, we're talking about killing, we're talking about destroying a life? And, you know, I, I can understand, like, I personally don't drink beer, but I wouldn't say let's make it illegal because I don't personally drink it or I don't personally, I there's lots of things that I could, I could say about that.
This one's different. This one cuts to the core of who we are as human beings. So at any rate, one one candidate is all in on the abortion issue. So I find it fast. I don't want to read too much into it, though, that the church put out this statement about political neutrality, but pairs with it a strong statement on abortion.
Are they saying something without saying something? Keep in mind, and this is in different places around the country, but it's really at play in Arizona, where you have Kamala Harris wanting to activate members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints to vote for her and Tim Walz, and they go to some groups, I think they're called Mormons for Harris Walz or Latter day Saints for Harris Walz.
And I think the church wants to make it very clear that they may be calling themselves that, but there's there's no affiliation at all. The church. Absolutely. You know, I, I don't know if they want to overtly, criticize this effort, but they've got to take a stand and, and say something about it. We actually talked to the one of the leaders of the latter day Saints for was it it got to be kind of a heated interview because I have failed to understand.
And I say this with respect, because I have very people that I love dearly who just see things different politically, but I do not understand. And I've tried, genuinely tried to understand, but can't, at least to this point, how you can profess both a faith in this church with its doctrine and simultaneously choose candidates that are so politically in direct opposition to those doctrinal beliefs that especially on this issue that is so crystal clear, I do not I don't get it.
And I don't know that I ever I want to I want to understand it, but I don't I don't think I ever, ever can't. There there is no logical flow there. You can't I don't know how you can be divided like that. I'm, I granted, there are people who think that abortion is great up until the point of birth, and they're all in and they're certainly members of a religious faith and they're all in.
I don't know how you have one foot in one and the other foot in the other. How do you do it? It's 822 on Newstalk 1078 Quick Break. If you'd like to reach us on the fall River propane calling text line (208)Â 542-1079. It's 827 on Newstalk 107I Neil Larson, along with Julie Mason and Julie, were excited to announce and I want to be very clear about this.
This is Neil and Julie, not, Newstalk 1079 or our employer, but we are going we have procured, limited number of vote no signs for proposition one for a yeah, vote no on proposition one. And we will be handing those out Friday morning at 11 in the Walmart parking lot in Idaho Falls. Yes. So West side Idaho Falls, where you just come and find us, there'll be a crowd around us, maybe a little bit closer to the south end of the parking lot.
Yeah, towards Culver's, towards Panda Express, towards Deseret Book. Yeah. That edge of the parking lot. That's where you're looking. The garden center. And so, yes. And, yeah. So we're we're excited. We've been kind of working on this for a while, but these signs are a little hard to get Ahold of. They're in. I don't know if they didn't print a bunch or they're in high demand, but I.
I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by the number of vote yes signs that are out there. I'm overwhelmed by that, too. That's the part of what is existing. That's making me cynical about the chances of this failing. And there's that many vote Yes signs out there, and not as many vote No signs. It could be other reasons. It could be that we're a little late in the game.
Darn it, Republicans, what are you doing? Yeah. I mean, it could it could be a lot of reasons, but we have 27 days left. We need to do something, and we need to do something now. Yeah. So that's why Neil, reached out to some people he knew. I reached out to some people I knew gathering all of that together.
We've ended up with a group of signs, and we want them to be handed out. And we want them in your front yard. Yes. And so we're going to make it super easy. You can just pull in. You don't even have to get out of your car. Will hand you a sign and a metal stand that you put it on, and you can tell us how much you love us.
And then you can drive on. There you go. So yeah. So that's the price they pay, right? Yes. Yeah. I might even record them. Yeah. But it's a free sign. I know that in some places, they're asking for a donation. This one, we've been able to have somebody cover the cost of them, so we have them for free.
So. Friday, 11 to noon, Walmart parking lot in Idaho Falls. South end of the parking lot near the garden center. Yeah. Okay. We're looking forward to, seeing you again. They'll probably go pretty quick. So yes, I believe so. We're going to one per vehicle. Is that what we kind of need to do. Because somebody could say I want five signs or unless you have a text showing I'm giving this sign to somebody, something like that, we need to have some sort of, a connection that, oh, this person has asked me to pick up the sign for them, that kind of a thing.
And if we get any hint whatsoever that you're just a liberal trying to get a sign to throw it in a dumpster, we're not giving you one. Yeah. If you show up in a Subaru with an equal sticker on the back, you're not getting a sign from us. Yeah, yeah. Coexist. Too bad you went out of your way.
Don't. And don't, needlessly expand your carbon footprint by driving there to get one. So, Julie, so the the statement by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, the headline at their newsroom page is church reiterates positions on political neutrality, civil discourse and abortion. In response to recent inquiries, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints reiterates its well-established institutional neutrality regarding political parties and candidates.
It, quote, does not endorse, promote or oppose political parties and their platforms are candidates for political office. The church also reiterates its encouragement for members, quote, to be active citizens by registering, exercising their right to vote and engaging in civic affairs, always demonstrating Christlike love and civility in political discourse. For more guidance on civility and elections, see the 2021 Church Statement that they gave out.
And then the final paragraph is with respect to several current U.S. state ballot initiatives, relative to abortion and sanctity for life, the church affirms that its position on abortion remains unchanged, as states work to enact laws related to abortion. Church members may appropriately choose to participate in efforts to protect life and to preserve religious liberty, and then they link to the church's official position on abortion, which is a very, well crafted and concise and straightforward statement on an opposition to, to abortion.
Yeah. I'll just I'm going to reiterate the church's reiterating I'm going to reiterate this is a statement by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. It actually should be a statement of Christianity. Yes, I would agree with you. When you're talking about abortion, I feel that it is a very loving approach to abortion that the Church of Jesus Christ takes.
And it is it should be something that Christians should embrace, not just members of the church. Yeah, yeah. All right. Let's go to the phones. Caller. Welcome to the show. Buenos dias. Hey, I want to, Yeah, one of this, Yeah, I'm. I'm LDS. I watch the conference, and, the comment I want to make is I had someone of my wife's family, told me need to listen to conference this weekend so that you can really make the right decision.
He's a Democrat. Always has been. He likes to politically chat every year or every other year when the elections come around. And I told him, I think, well, I've already made up my mind. I have to listen to the conference to to know what what I need to do and who I need to vote for. He's like, well, you've just been listening to the wrong God.
And I was like, you can't say that. I was like, that's terrible. You're judging me for something that I believe in. And and, you know, I don't I don't believe in abortion. And he's like, well, you just need to make sure that you're praying to the right God. And he goes to the same church. But as like the comments, some of these, my family members on the other side of me, they're just I can't believe it half the time.
So I don't know what what? He watches a lot of nightly news. He watches a lot of the nightly news. He tells me, you got to quit watching Fox News. It's like I don't even have time to go home. Have to think of them working so much and. Wow. So yeah, that's just that's just a lot of the stuff that comes from the other side of my wife's family.
And she it blows her mind every time. So it's out there. It's our families. It's, we have to deal with it all the time, does it? I don't give in to society. You know, we stand up for what's right. Standard for what? Your values are. Stick to them. Don't change them. The church doesn't change their values. They might change how their meetings are done, but their standards are all the same.
It says God's the same today, yesterday and tomorrow and he's not going to change. So if he does, it makes him imperfect. So let me ask you this question because I I'm curious. I love learning about other families dynamics. Does it ever blow up into something ugly and painful, or is it just kind of these little irritating exchanges that just happen and you kind of move on?
It blew up one time. From their point of view, I mean, they got mad when, I shut on some facts of, of abortions and, and I show some facts on Kamala Harris and they got mad. Start calling me names and, I was I was like, okay, you can call me names. That doesn't change the facts.
My wife like, just let it go, you know? Just I was like, no, I'm not going to let it go. I'm not going to back down. I was like, this is the biggest problem is we keep backing down. I'm backing down. Yeah, well, you want to make it mad, they're going to do something. I was like, well, it doesn't mean I should back down from what I believe in.
What's right. I've been told the story. Well, you know, just just, you know, remain quiet. We can't remain quiet anymore. I don't want, I don't want, well, I can say I. I lived in Nebraska for a bit. I had a friend there. Who? He's gay, but he came and told me he's a Republican. He's like most of the gay people.
You see, the homosexual people, you see the LGBTQ stuff you see on TV. Most of it's not real. They're just a bunch of perverts. They don't live it. You'll see a lot of gay people that they're pretty much quiet, just want to live their life. He's like that. All the loud people that are the major minority. He's like, it's just a bunch of perverts.
This is coming from a friend of mine who's interested, a, a Republican. Yeah. And, I was like, I respected him. You know, we were pretty good friends, but we can't just sit by and be quiet anymore. You know? It's it's it's ridiculous. So. Thanks. I appreciate you listening. Well, thank you, for the call. You know, it's interesting I sent you a tweet last night wondering if it was mostly just as a.
Hey, Neil, heads up. This is the statistics that are out there because I thought there was a potential over the next three weeks we were going to discuss this. Who knew it was going to be the very next day, not even 12 hours later? Yeah, but one of the lowest get out the vote block of people. So the people who aren't getting out there and voting are actively religious people.
They're choosing not to vote. About half of them are only voting people who attend church every week. Yeah, only about half of them are getting out and voting. That feels very like I don't even know how to explain it. I, I think we lack moral integrity in this country. The people that I think do have moral integrity, which is those who attend church every week and at least are looking to God in some way.
Why isn't the strength of this country important to you? So, last, okay, you ask the question rhetorically, but I want you to answer it. What? Why are evangelicals and devout, not religious people? Why are we seeing them engage less in the political process? Because I actually walk the street in my head last night. Here's why I believe they aren't is because we have we have some politicians that have some moral, moral correctness issues on both sides of the aisle.
And I think that if you're a a Christian who has been taught to keep quiet, like the man who was just on the phone call is expressing, you feel that you would rather just reserve your vote and not vote at all, because I cannot vote for the correctness that exists in politics. Yeah, okay. I just don't agree with that at all.
And we've gone over this before, but you have a chance to help your community in East Idaho. You have a chance to sway whether or not we're going to have proposition one on. I has something that our legislators have to make work or we don't have it. Yeah, get out and do something. Don't just sit idly by. We.
Yes. I want to throw something by you, though, Julie, because you you're pretty good at tempering me if I'm. If I'm out of bounds. But is there almost an exile mentality among religious people that the world is so corrupt? It it is becoming so wicked and filled with evil that they just feel less a part of it. And so getting out and voting, I mean, even though we should and I think in their minds, intellectually, they know they should.
But if you don't have faith that your votes are being counted properly, if you have become emotionally conditioned to the left winning these cultural wars and these cultural battles, it's very dispiriting over time. Oh, I totally get it. And they check out and so they almost feel like I'm not a part of that realm anymore because it's gone in.
It's a lost cause. I totally get that feeling. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not advocating. Yeah, I'm just saying does that help explain why they are behaving the way they do? Oh, I think it does. But you have to. Evil. Evil will always exist. You can either fight it or reside with it. No, I yeah. 100%. Yeah.
I mean, but I think you're right that that may be they are distancing themselves so much from the world that that's that that's their almost like, safety mechanism maybe. Yeah. And so they're distancing themselves from the political process as well. I think sometimes there's an interesting. Well I don't know, it's interesting. It's kind of sad actually. And I think it's a, alarming.
The presidential race takes up so much oxygen. And I'll be honest with you, I think there are tons of Americans that don't think the presidential race is being counted fairly. They think their votes don't matter. It feels rigged. It feels stolen. Whatever. I think there's a lot of people in that place and they don't realize proposition one.
They don't realize local legislative races or local school bonds and levies. And I mean, there's so much of your direct way of life that you can impact in these elections that set aside the presidential race for a moment. There are very compelling reasons for you to show up on Election Day, but I think the presidential race takes up so much oxygen.
If you feel like it's rigged, you're like, why bother and go vote? Well, the answer to that is what I just said. We've heard that you've you've been told that before. I was I was told that by a client yesterday in a more roundabout way. But she said, I don't like our candidates and I my vote in Idaho doesn't matter anyway.
So why am I even worried about that? Tuesday. Yeah. And I, I then took the opportunity to talk to her about proposition one. So much like the caller said, you can't just sit back. Yeah, you don't need to be aggressive. You don't need to cause arguments. You don't need to hurl insults. You do need to help inspire and lead.
And that sometimes that's as minimum as just letting somebody know. You do know there's other stuff on the ballot on, in November besides the presidential election. Yeah, it's it's that simple of an opening statement. Yeah. And then talk about proposition one. Yeah. Yeah. There there is, there's a lot there. And you absolutely can have an impact on, on all of those things.
Someone said, so much of the attitude that God will take care of it pervades Christianity, that apathy takes over. I think that's a great point. That is a really good point. Yeah. I think you're just like, well, God's in charge in the end. What can I do? What can I do? So yeah, I am not going to inconvenience my yeah, that's which God sends an army too.
Well he he does. And not to cite scripture, but faith without works is problematic. That's the new Neil's version of the New Testament. Yeah. Alright. (208)Â 542-1079 we're going to, we're going to break here for our news break, but we'll come back if you'd like to join us. The fall River propane call and text line is (208)Â 542-1079. Messy, but bam bam.
Yeah. Not making a choice is making a choice. You did make a choice. Which is the point. Who was it we were interviewing or talking to? Or somebody called in, and it was some guy that called in a few months ago and said, I can't in good conscience vote for either one of these. And then that I pressed back a little bit and then it kind of exploded.
But if you choose not to vote against the worst evil, you are making a choice. And your choice is to allow evil to expand. Yeah. So oh this is good news. I was in Rexburg yesterday. The main road I went down had vote no on prop one on every lawn. Yes I saw that. Somebody is asking us to go over the constitutional amendment because they don't understand it.
Okay. Take break. It doesn't matter what's in on it or what's in it. Just vote yes.
But, but, but, okay. I think we have a new high watermark coming tomorrow for online listenership. Lovely. 133 135 135 I'd love to get to 140 before the before the election. And we're not literally saying 140 online listeners were, yeah, much. Oh, we're not even on Facebook later. Yeah. I'm thinking we may just crack 135, but I have three minutes.
I can, do we want a Facebook Live, our interview with Senator Risch or just recording? What do you think? Just recording it. I say recorded because what if something weird happens? It just. It makes me nervous that there isn't control there. Maybe I just I'm so cynical and I think the worst of everything, but no, I think I think that's probably just smart.
I think you get a different interview too, if. Yeah, if it's live, he's he's precautious. Oh, I looked up Saint George. They're international listenership is because it's getting filtered out and it's down to like 14,000 another week and it'll pretty much custom date range. Let's the Idaho or excuse me the Utah hockey club one last night. Oh that was their opening game.
Do they not have a name. They can't for a year. Oh, they'll have a full name, a different name. And they've already narrowed it to like three. They had a whole bunch of names out there. Oh, why can't they? Something to do with the way that they bought out the contract. And. Oh, so it stays this way for a year and then shifts.
Is that like the in between like the Redskins and the commanders? Yeah. And let me look up Utah Hockey Club potentially 20 hours ago Desert News did an article about it. So it's down to these one, these six options Utah blizzard Utah mammoth Utah outlaws Utah venom Utah Yeti. Yeah okay.
Not sure I like Utah Yeti that sounds a little weird. Yeah it is a little different Neil and I were just looking up the potential names for the Utah Hockey club. They had their opening match or opening game last night and they won. Yeah. Good for them. Yeah. Good debut. Who did they play? Oh, geez. Don't ask me that.
I just know they won. That's all right. No. No problem. Okay. So, the experts are saying, this canned food item is a good thing to have in your pantry, which I don't know why this made a news story. Did you see this? I didn't see this, but there's been a resurgence of prepping because so many people.
Yeah, that, in, like, North Carolina, Georgia that stayed in their homes. But the roads were washed out and everything, they had to live off of what they had. Yeah. Which has been an interesting conversation because people were saving the wrong thing. So maybe that's why this is now making the news. So do you know what it is?
I had no idea. So it would take a guess. So it's an item you should have. You should have because it provides a lot a lot of benefits. Beans. No. But I think that's a that's not wrong okay. They're saying yeah I don't think you like this tuna fish. I actually had to have canned tuna in my food storage.
Yeah, it's not my favorite, but yeah. So the reasons why they say tuna is an excellent source of protein. It's also a source of omega three fatty acids. It's affordable and it's also versatile. You can you can put it in a ton of stuff. It also has other vital nutrients like vitamin D, selenium and B vitamins as well.
So yeah. Anyway, but do you have the pouch packed tuna or the canned I have cans, I don't have the pouches. Does it recommend one or the other? It just, price point. I don't think from a safety standpoint, it says, canned tuna provide different benefits. Oil packed tuna generally has a richer flavor. It can be softer in texture, yet the trade off is a higher calorie content.
To that point, water packed tuna is lower in calories, and generally has a slight edge when it comes to omega three content. So how the the water or soil thing. But it says about pouched tuna, tune it has a higher price point, but it is an added convenience. And they do have a long shelf life, just like canned varieties, but they don't need to be drained, so don't need to be drained.
And you don't need a can opener or a knife to get it open. You just rip open the package. So maybe your tuna is my raisins. I will eat tuna. The problem with tuna as I like it with carbs. I like it on crackers. I like it on bread. You don't just like it. Tuna. Just tuna. Yeah. So that's why I never eat tuna.
Celery. You put on celery? The. I don't think that would be bad. Yeah, yeah, I've seen that. Better than raisins on celery. Yes, it is better than raisins. I'm with you on that one. I don't understand ants on a log. I don't either, like, I've never quite understood. I like peanut butter. I like celery, I like raisins.
Not that don't need to be married together. Amen. We agree on it. Very good. What about peanut butter and celery? I don't get that one either. Oh, really? Yeah. I never did like peanut butter with celery. And then you add the raisins, and that gets even weirder. Oh, okay. Can I ask sort of the obvious question?
Here it is. The peanut butter to make the celery palatable. Or probably it's like it was a, a parents way of sneaking something healthy and fibrous into a kid's diet. Maybe I also think that we've lived with this concept that peanut butter was healthy, and it's been uncovered over the last few years that. No, no, no, no, no, that's a whole bunch of sugar.
Yeah, right. The the typical store brand, you can buy unsweetened peanut butter. Okay. Yeah. But it was one of those things when our moms were trying to raise us, they thought they were doing us a good service by slathering on that peanut butter. Yeah. No, I don't think it was a trick. Yeah. Peanut butter on bananas. Yum. You like that?
All right. We'll be back at 854. Our two underway. Welcome back. And if you'd like to reach us, the number is (208)Â 542-1079. So Donald Trump sent out on X part of Kamala's appearance on The View. And Julie, this is what he said lying Kamala, who's being exposed as a dummy every time she does a show, just stated to the degenerates on The View that she would have done nothing different than Crooked Joe Biden, the worst president in the history of the United States.
Some of these words are all caps by the way. The Lamestream media doesn't want to pick up the story. The dumb women on the show wish they never asked her the question that led to that election defying answer. But the internet is going wild. For starters, the border disaster with murderers. And by the way, the rest of the way is all caps.
Worst inflation in history. The Ukraine disaster, October 7th with Israel, loss of energy independence, the Afghanistan debacle, debacle, loss of respect of all over the globe and much more. Her dumbest answer so far. So let's play that answer for you. Here's what she had to say. Well, if anything, would you have done something differently than President Biden during the past four years?
And there is Donna thing that comes to mind in terms of and I've been a part of, of, of most of the decisions that have had impact. Well, bad answer, such a bad answer, especially when okay, there's two reasons this is a bad answer. Later on she was talking with Howard Stern all about turning the page. So are you either owning your last three and three quarter years or are you turning a page?
Which one is it? So pick your talking point because you're doing it differently depending on where you're at. And then not a single thing you know, you are perfectly fine. With the 13 soldiers dying in the Afghanistan withdrawal. You are perfectly fine with letting murderous villains come across our border. You are perfectly fine with the amount of people that have died at the hands of illegal immigrants.
There's so many things that have gone wrong under the Biden-Harris administration. She wouldn't have done a single thing different. So let me I the problem with Kamala, I mean, this answer was terrible, but she doesn't have to throw him under the bus either. Like like in her mind, I think she sees it like I have to answer that.
I would have done nothing different or I'm admitting fault for everything. So the answer probably ought to be in a question like that. And she, by the way, should anticipate this question coming. Maybe she didn't expect it coming from Sunny Hostin or The View, but she should anticipate this question and say, look, I'm not in this moment gonna undercut the president of the United States.
I'm his vice president. And so I'm not going to critique or criticize any decision he's made. Having said that, in retrospect, absolutely. There are things that we should have done different. Afghanistan was a was a tragedy. And and we probably could have handled inflation a little bit different. And, you know, at least on something without totally destroying Joe Biden.
But I don't think her mind works that quickly to handle that kind of nuance. I don't I don't think it does either, which is really weird. Can we just see how weird that is? You're an attorney. You were the attorney general. How do you not have a better command of the language that you served as a senator? I I'm just baffled she doesn't have a better command of the language based upon being.
What is she, almost 60 years old? Yeah. 59. She's 59. You have decades of working in this industry, and you can't do better than this. Well, and do you think because Sunny Hostin is an attorney and I think despite me disagreeing with her, I don't think she's dumb. Do you think she just assumed, okay, I'm going to ask this question.
Sounds like a hardball question, but she'll be more than capable of answering it. And she just wasn't. Maybe. Maybe the alcohol was wearing off me. Don't know. Yeah, it could be. Yeah. But yeah, it's just it's just sad. Oh well CBS news the 60 minutes disastrous. That answer even though they softball most of their interview with her. That answer was a disaster too.
Let's go to the phones. Hi, caller. How are you? Hey, is it me? It's you. Yes. Hey, just a couple of things. Quick points. We a lot of people tend to forget that, Harris was the deciding vote on the Inflation Act. Yeah, she was. She was the tiebreaker, you know? Yeah, she was the tie breaker.
Which, this I don't know if inflation probably would have happened anyways, but she was, deciding vote on this whole inflation act. So she owns a lot of this responsibility on this inflation. Yeah. With along with, you know, along with the president of the United States. If I could, when I go to a politician or ask a politician a question, if I could just all back just a little bit, my number one question, regardless of what religion I am, is, what is your stance on abortion?
And if they kind of give you an answer or don't want to give you an answer, then you kind of can fill them out. You know what I mean? Yeah. And also, have you ever noticed that when most politicians talk about abortion or, the left talks about abortion, there's not one word usually said about the child. Oh, it's all about the woman.
It's all it's usually all about the woman. And if there's not one word said about the fetus or the baby or the child, that's that's living inside of that. So it's it's it's it's really start to me that that a woman and I don't want to be sound sexist can, can claim all of this is my body, this is my right and all of this.
And yet not one word about a child. But that's my point. I appreciate you guys. You guys. I love you guys a lot. And, thank you so much for what you do. Oh, thank you, so much for the call. He is spot. I mean, they're they subtract the baby from the equation because that's the only way they can in their in their minds navigate through this.
So the new talking point is they call the baby a product of reproduction. I think that's disgusting. It's not a product. Yeah. It it is something that exists out of a what should have been a beautiful product process of reproduction. And it is a human that exists, not a product, but that's their new phraseology around it. And I've seen this point made before where we never talk about the baby, but half of those babies that would be born would be females.
So if you're out there doing screaming female empowerment and they deserve to know what they're, you know, have control, well, you just killed half the females that were going to come in to the world from these abortions. Yeah, it it's true. It's so it's almost self-hating isn't it. Yeah. When when you look at it, it I've, I've asked a it's a very offensive question, but it's not meant to be offensive because the left brags about abortion availability.
And let's go back originally to the mark. Was it Margaret Sanger? Is that her name? Yeah. Yes. Yeah. If I were to propose a policy that abortion is available, but only to the black community, the left would come unhinged. You have to ask yourself, why would you come unhinged if I proposed that abortion was only available to the black community?
Why would that be offensive to you? Why in your heart do you go, oh, that's that's horrific. Well, you answer that question for yourself. Yeah. If it's a if as they want to say it's a right. Because that's a talking point for those that reside in liberalism, that it's a right to murder this baby. If I want to, wouldn't you be celebrating the fact that a black, the black community got to have the right, right.
But that's not how it works. And in in the background of all of that, Planned Parenthood is purposely built by urban black populations. So tell me, which one of us in this whole crowd that we're talking about is the racist ones? Well, yeah. Right. Exactly. And I mean, if if abortion itself was a symbol of empowerment, let's go with that, because that's what that's the verbiage that they want to say to us.
And I said, okay, let's, let's, let's talk about abortion. Let's make it only available to to black that empower communities, that empowerment. Nobody would look at that and not see the sort of the genocidal feeling around it. You're trying to get rid of the black population. You would say it's eugenics to do that. Well, if abortion isolated to one group of people based on race is eugenics.
Well if you extrapolate that out to the entire human race, how can it go from being eugenics in an isolated situation to being a virtue and a symbol of empowerment for the overall group? It's a perfect question to ask. And why is it eugenics when we gift them with the option but not eugenics when in the background, they're building them around black communities so that those black women can get rid of their offspring?
Yeah, yeah, it's a good call. I'd love the answer to that question. So (208)Â 542-1079. It's 17 minutes after the hour. Now. And Julie we have JD Vance. Speaking of the black community, he was asked a question by a reporter and he was asked about what is your message to black voters? And here's how he handled it.
I thought it was masterful. Some of the events can come in from Michigan advance.com. Detroit is 77% African-American. The state is 14% African-American. Why should African-American Michiganders vote for the Trump fans ticket? We've got a great number of Black Americans in this crowd right now. They could probably answer that question better than I could, but but without calling everybody up here because I'm a politician, I would like to share the microphone with anybody as much as I like them.
Well, I think they would agree with is number one, Donald Trump wants to bring back public safety and an economy that brings prosperity for everybody, good wages for good jobs. That's the Trump promise. I think that's a great promise, to black families in Michigan and to everybody else here. Here's something else. I mean, there is this idea in the media, and I don't know where it came from, that somehow black Americans don't believe in public safety in this country.
Well, we know whether you're Democrat, Republican or independent, black Americans do care about public safety in this country. They want to empower our law enforcement officers to do their job. Of course, do it respectful and make sure we've got good relationships between police and community. But we can have a good relationship between police and the communities they serve while we lock up the violent criminals and keep everybody safe in the process.
I think that's very possible. Okay, I want to stop there because he makes basically two main points. This one, which is black communities want safe communities. They they want their neighborhoods to be safe. They know that police play an important role, but they want the police to to behave well. Right. That approach, I think, has so much more appeal then pigs in a blanket frame like bacon.
Or then the, the tripe that LeBron James spreads with his, with his platform. It's a very sensible approach. And he's carrying the message of Donald Trump which is we need police and you want safe communities because you want to be able to operate businesses. You want your kids to be able to walk to school safely. You want you want safe communities for a thousand different really good reasons.
And Donald Trump can bring that to you. Meanwhile, you have the other side just telling you in different words. But pigs in a blanket frame like bacon. I think the the Democrats realized how big of a misstep their defund the police movement had become. And they're trying to roll it back, but they've done it a boatload of damage.
And I would even say, Julie, one of the reasons why we've seen black it and we've seen the black community show a lot more support for Donald Trump than we historically see for Republicans, is for this very reason that you had this fringe leftist movement that in their lust to create race and class warfare, they actually made crime worse and communities worse.
They absolutely did. There was the complete support of Kamala Harris for BLM in 2020. She helped, support the concept that to, bond criminals out of jail that summer, those who had vandalized and abused their cities, she wanted them to be able to get out of jail. So they create this defund the police starting in 2020.
Well, in 2023, they were in there. Oh heck mode. What have we done? And so then they had to re evaluate how they were going to gather crime statistics because they knew how bad it looked. Yeah. So then they rewrote the rules on gathering crime statistics so they can all lie to you in 2023 early 2024 when all those statistics started to come in because they needed to frame it for the election, that, oh, look, crime is down, crime is down.
They created the problem, then rewrote the rules so they could say they didn't create a problem. They actually created a solution. Yeah. And claim they fixed it all. Lot. All right. 922 on Newstalk 179, it's Nielsen along with Julie Mason. Julie, let me read. Can I read the text to you? Did you guys already talk about Hurricane Milton, or are you just waiting for it to be over to politicize it?
Oh, geez, I can't, I'm again. People are gems, aren't they? 999 22 on Newstalk 1079. We'll be back after this. Oh, Julie. So paddling down. I've raised three children. You know how, I could have parented them if I just chose to be completely naive to their missteps. I don't have to recognize that they've happened. That's what happens when you say crime has gone down nationally.
While there's been a police deficit. Well, if there's no cops to arrest people, there's no crime on the books. But the crime is still happening. So as a parent, if I pretend like my kids didn't do anything wrong, guess what I can say to everyone? Oh, my kids didn't do anything wrong. The kids are still doing the things wrong.
What did paddling Dan say? He says crime has gone down nationally while there's been a police deficit. You just answered your own question, Dan. It it's like cancer rates have gone down because cancer testing is is down. We stopped checking Prostates guess what? There's no more prostate cancer on.
I hope paddling Dan I Dan I'm guessing he does like to push us just to see what we'll say back. And I'm sure that's all we'll say back. Yeah. He can think whatever he wants, but that's the reality of what's going on. Here's my question. Paddling Dan, and I'll speak slowly. Do you understand the point that we are making question mark?
Do you understand? If you test for cancer less, the cancer rate officially goes down. If you don't arrest criminals, the crime rate goes down. Are you with us? They're paddling. Dan, I'm going to be really kind of back. Is that okay? No, I, I, I think he, I think he enjoys pushing just to get us. But I think it actually refines our ability to to defend these talking points ends up looking like the idiot.
And I don't want that. Okay. With that I guess I think, yes, I think he's okay with that. Let me give you another example. Oh man, my picture is all off. So another example of this, which is I had a conversation with a, a county deputy a while back, that deputy talk to me about, the fact that there is a highway, a state highway in the area, they're really not pulling anyone over on any more simply because it's too dangerous and too hard.
The highway is too filled, and to pull out in traffic and try to slow traffic enough for you to stop, somebody ends up causing more problems. So if we were going to look at tickets that were administered to speeders on that state highway, they're probably down. Yeah, that doesn't mean speeding is down, right? It's happening all the time.
They're just selectively choosing not to to hand out tickets for speeding because it creates such an obstacle. The highway becomes difficult for others to navigate. Yes. Right. That doesn't mean speeding down. Yeah. You just stopped recording it. And this was everything I just said was the conversation I had with the sheriff's deputy. Yeah, that that's exactly what's going on on a stretch of a state highway that we were talking about at that time.
Yeah, yeah. Well, do we expect puddling Dan to recognize his. He did say something back. He said in Idaho, for instance, you had 5000 arrests for ganja. For ganja? I don't know what that is. I think it's a drug, like, okay, maybe. Yeah. Hey, look, I'm proud. I don't know what that is so good for that drug alone, 40% of the crimes were not crimes at all.
Really? So if the if the drug is illegal, you shouldn't be able. They shouldn't arrest you. I'm so confused. And what does that speak to the point I don't know before, like I don't. Yeah. I'm really glad I didn't know what that drug was. If that's a drug. Oh, it stands for marijuana. Okay. Oh.
We learn something new every day Julian. Yeah. Yeah I do A2085421079. If you'd like to join us on the program today. It's the fall River propane call in text line. And let's talk for just a moment about grand peaks. Primates had brats night before last. And of course I have them on a low carb thing, but super good.
I put a little cheese on it, I put a little mustard on it, and then I put it in my low carb wrap while everybody else has a nice hot dog. But it's okay. It's still amazing because the brought is the star of the show. So good. Cheap Prime meats can hook you up with everything and your your pot roast, your ground beef, your bacon, your pork, your your broths, anything that you're looking for.
I'm excited to try. I got these already padded out hamburger patties. But they have, like, peppers and onions and spices already in them. All I have to do is star and throw them on the grill. Can't wait to eat those for cheap primates. Yeah I saw those I didn't, I didn't order any of those. But you'll have to let me know.
I'll let you know because they look really really good. Cheap primates.com delivery in the Idaho Falls area is free, for orders $75 or more. And the fee is very reasonable for orders less than that. So GG primates.com. Check out their packages and specials and get your freezer filled for the fall. Yeah, the time freezer field for the fall.
Alliteration. Yeah okay. (208)Â 542-1279 someone said Julie Neil, people on the left would say your question involving the expansion of abortion to all communities is an example of the logical fallacy, reductio ad absurdum, where you take someone's argument to an absurd extreme and then criticize the results. Not my argument. Just hearing a little bird in the next office making those calls, so to speak.
Have a good morning. Okay. You know what? I'll accept that. Yeah, it was more for a point not to win an argument, but rather to promote thought on and to highlight the hypocrisy. Yes. And I think it is worth a thought experiment to say if we offered abortion to one group based on race, would that be viewed as a virtuous thing?
The answer to that would be no. But if you expand it to everyone for some reason, some people view it as a yes. And so why is that it? It wasn't really a slam dunk. I beat you at an argument point. It was more of a think about this, go on that that journey. Why abortion for only blacks would be offensive.
But abortion widely available, is an important symbol of empowerment. I want somebody to explain that to me. Yes. Yeah, I think that's fair. Totally fair. Yeah. But I appreciate the point. I don't I don't want to be guilty of a logical fallacy, but it wasn't an argument so much as it was a thought provoking scenario. I and I think you have to walk through that with the left because they will argue a point in front of one audience and then argued the completely opposite point in front of another audience.
And you have to ask those thought provoking questions to get them to think, why is that okay? Yeah. You know, this is a really basic one, but why is it okay for Nancy Pelosi to have a wall around her mansion in San Francisco? But it's not okay to have a wall on our border? What's the difference? Yeah, I mean, that's a real basic one.
Basic? Basic one? Yeah. Another basic, basic one. Why is it okay for a superstar to travel all around the world on their expensive jets that are putting out ginormous carbon footprints? But you're going to make me try and drive an EV car. Okay. Yeah. Make them think through these hypocrisy moments that they hold. They hold the truth on both sides.
Yeah. And there may actually be a good explanation for the disparity. But I want them to make that explanation, make them have them do their argument. Yeah. Explain why it's okay for Bernie Sanders who wants everybody to lead a socialist life to have multiple homes. Yes, ma'am. I'm not I'm not trying to slam dunk point anybody here. I'm saying you explain to me why that's okay.
Why is it okay for John Kerry? Why is it okay for Leonardo DiCaprio? Why, why is it okay for all these people who scream about climate change to have these massive they have carbon footprints bigger than Sasquatch? Why was it okay for BLM riots to burn entire cities, destroy city blocks of Seattle and Minnesota, yet we we imprisoned tons of people for January 6th.
Explain that. Okay, we're going to take a really, we have a bit of a disturbing text coming in. We've got to we got to track down. So whoever sent that text, please follow it up with a link and tell us how you know this. We don't want to give the details of this, but there may be a threat locally, and we'll try to find out more.
So give us as much information as you can, and we'll track this down. It's 933. They didn't hear that now. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So what happened is we got a text saying there was an active gun threat at Thunder Ridge. That's actually not accurate. There is a threat that's happening at Thunder Ridge. It was a picture that was sent via Snapchat we're hearing and, of of a gun of a firearm.
And the, sheriff's department is checking it out. So if you had kids or have kids who attend Thunder Ridge High School, that's what's happening. Yeah. They just re sent the same Google doc. I'm that. Okay. I don't know what that's about. Okay. I'll open it just to make sure, but it looks like it has the same code.
Lips. Let's see such a dilemma. Oh, I there's not a win here. There's not. Because I, I think it's smart. Have more cops. They're more deputies. But I think parents should keep their kids home if they're worried about it. And we're back. It's, 938 on Newstalk 179. Neil Larson, along with Julie Mason. And, we can tell you what we've learned so far.
Apparently this email went out from, district 93 last night, and it says this early this morning before school started, the administration at Thunder Ridge High School and District 93 received a report that an image of a firearm had been posted on social media that referenced Thunder Ridge High School. We immediately notified the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office and are working with them to respond to and investigate this incident at this time.
While we do not have any reason to believe that there is a credible threat to the safety of our students or staff members, we've asked the Sheriff's Office to deploy additional deputies to the school to monitor the situation. The school is not in lockdown, but we're actively monitoring the safety of our students. We understand the high level of concern that this news will bring.
If this situation creates anxiety or high stress for your children, please let them know that our school counselors will be available to meet with them throughout this week. As a parent or guardian, you also have the right to have your children stay home from school. If this situation is created a high level of anxiety for them or fear for their safety, we're grateful for the support from the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office in responding to this situation and that it's signed, Trent Daybell, the principal of Thunder Ridge, and Doctor Scott Wolstenholme, the superintendent in district 93.
So the initial text we got was that there was an active threat. There wasn't there's not an active threat, but it's, it they should have been a concern. Yeah. A couple things here. They should have been able to track down the the teenager. Well, I don't know if it's a girl or a boy. They should have been able to track down the teenager because these this, platform that the image was shared on has a profile identity to it.
So that's a step in the like the law enforcement is a step ahead already. Yeah. I also want to give some kudos out to Bonneville County Sheriff's Office. They have held school shooter trainings for parents. Yeah this fall. So you had the opportunity to go to the individual high schools and attend a training by the sheriff's department to tell you this is how we're going to react in a school shooting this is what's helpful if you're a parent and really answer questions and line out how a situation like this would work.
I appreciate that they were very proactive in providing those trainings this fall. Yeah, yeah, that is good. And and I think this is an issue you have to be proactive on. Let's go to the phones. Caller. How are you today?
Hello. Oh, man. It's you. But if you could, speak directly into your your handset, I would appreciate it. We can barely hear you. I can barely hear you. Okay, well, maybe maybe you get in a better situation then if we can't hear each other. So maybe pull over and and call on the phone, and that would be.
That would be all right. So, Yeah. Too much road noise. That's a lot of road. Nice. Yeah. 208542 179 if you'd like to join us on the program, sometimes people in their cars, they'll have one of those dash mounted cell phone holders. Yeah. But then they have their heat or their air conditioning on. Oh, right. So yeah, the air is blowing right into the phone.
Yeah, yeah. All right. (208)Â 542-1279 back to the phones. Caller go ahead. Yes. The, former credit party caller. Can I ask you to either pull over or maybe call later when you're not driving? We really can't hear you above the road noise now. Okay. Sorry. That's all right. Are you on a Bluetooth right now? I think he's on it.
Or it could be that. Yeah, yeah. So. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, so let's talk about some things that are coming up, okay. Yes. We do have a lot coming up. Yes. So Friday Neil and I are going to be in the Idaho Falls Walmart, that's the one off of Utah Avenue, will be there from 11 to noon on Friday in the parking lot, south end of the parking lot near the garden center entrance.
We will be handing out for that hour the amount of however long they last, the amount of vote no on proposition one signs that we've been able to procure. Yes. So if you've been looking to get a sign and maybe you haven't had a lawmaker call you back, or you didn't know where to get one, or it was too hard to get to the place where one was available.
We've tried to pick a very central location right there off of the freeway. And so 11 to noon Friday, Walmart parking lot. We're there. We'll give out the signs until we have none left. Yes. So looking forward to that. Also, we're working on a big election night event. So details to come. It's it's a watch party.
It's an election central. Kind of event where Julie and I will be broadcasting live. So we don't have all the details. We're not going to tell you everything about it right now. However, we do want you to block out that date and we hope you'll come and join us for a while during our election night coverage that we will broadcast it not in the studio, on location.
Yes. So, yeah, it'll be a great night. Yeah, it'll be good. Okay. Let's go back to the phones. 208542 117 Caller go ahead. How are you today? Go ahead. How are you? Very good sir. Thank you. Just a quick time in on the situation, and it sounds rich. Do you believe that in certain cases, the juveniles that are involved in what I call horrendous crimes names, we may, but, I don't I don't know, like, like this story today where just an image was shown or sent.
No, I don't I don't think so. I think if they actually show up and and shoot and kill and there's an act and there's, if you do that, then then yeah, I think you should. And we do actually. Okay. Very good. Yeah, I agree with you because I think sometimes with kids they're screaming out for attention, but it's just the wrong type of attention that they're getting.
Yeah. We need to be more positive with our youth. Well you too, have a fantastic day. Thank you. All right. Thank you for the call. Yeah. I mean, this is beyond knucklehead. This is this is very concerning. But I don't think if at some 14 year olds, I don't know whatever age and they've just sent something out that that looks threatening, I, I don't want their life there for the rest of their long life to be tainted by something like this.
I'm a redemption guy. They need to address the threat and take care of it. But I'm I'm reluctant to just broadcast somebody's name to the world because of a horrible moment. Like, I'm perfectly fine with requirements that the kid now enter therapy on and not on the taxpayer dime. Yeah, like the parents need to take some responsibility. If your child does this kind of action, there should be just like you pay restitution.
Well, good restitution in this place would be actually repairing the problem. Yeah. So there should be required therapy. There should be, you know, maybe even some potential required therapy for the person that he sent the picture to. Because that child is probably a little traumatized today. Yeah. Yeah. I also think there's another layer here, which is why we don't typically broadcast the name of mass shooters.
Sometimes they want the notoriety. Yeah, yeah, sometimes they want to be known. And and recognized and I don't we need to find other, more healthy ways to make kids feel like they're appreciated and recognized. So. Yeah. All right. 946 (208)Â 542-1079 if you'd like to join us on the program on this Wednesday morning. Julie, we played earlier, 60 minutes, I what do you think is going to happen with this?
Because you had the the original Q&A, which was a disastrous answer for Kamala. It was just word salad. She didn't really say much at all. And then when the final program came out, it was more concise and it was a completely they copied and pasted an answer from another question and put it in as the answer to a second question.
It was a completely inaccurate and manufactured Q&A. Okay, so what do I think is going to happen? First off, I think it's it's journalistic malpractice. I don't think anything's going to happen. Donald Trump has it has demanded that the entire video be released so that we can actually see Kamala's performance. I don't expect CBS to be doing that.
The fact that David Muir behave the way he did in the debate that just went, you know, people were outraged, but he got to keep his job and carry forward and no big deal. The fact that they lied and were doing the quote unquote fact checking of J.D. Vance, but not of Tim Walz, that just moved on past.
Nothing was done with that. I don't think CBS is going to have to face a fire at all for this. It'll be a little bit of bad press and then they're going to move forward. Yeah. I agree with you, but here's how it went down. This is the original Q&A of how it happened. But it seems that, Prime Minister Netanyahu is not listening.
We'll build the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by or a result of, many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region. Okay. Absolutely nothing was said there. It was just a bunch of nothing. So this is that was the original one.
This is what 60 minutes eventually put out to the exact same question. But it seems that, Prime Minister Netanyahu is not listening. We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end. Much more concise. Yes. Yeah. So they were I'm the bottom line is they were trying to make her look good.
That's all there is to it. Yeah. You can't call it anything but that. Do they even try to explain it? No, I don't I don't think we're going to hear from them. I don't either, I don't either. They're just allowed. Yeah. There's there's Oh they don't they don't even have to call it a mulligan. No, you're right.
It's just a loud. Yeah, yeah, it is kind of sad. Okay. Really quick, let's break away. We'll come back and continue after this. On Newstalk 179, we forgot to record a segment for the final segment. So it's 901 Pier View Drive. I know it's just down. It's just down there. So it's there. I know we typically don't do this, but can we drop two minutes of commercial at the end instead of one?
Yes. So it goes Buffalo Wild Wings, Mackenzie River. Then that it's like a tap house and then stifle invent investments or stifle investments. Okay. Then the road and then the next building is Senator Rishi's office. Yeah, I don't know. I don't remember Robert. He's saying, didn't they chop up Sarah Palin's interview back in the day?
I don't remember that. Did they? All right. Who which outlet I don't yeah. Well who did she interview with Robert and did it benefit her or harm her. Well because they chopped up Trump's interview with 60 minutes and informed him yeah. The. Yes. So and furthermore, sometimes you have to edit down for brevity or for, for time whatever that that happens all the time.
But it's, it's the nature of it. And in this case, the nature of it was you took a more impressive answer from a different part of the interview, and you put it in the place of a very unflattering answer. Yeah, actually wasn't the answer to the question. That's the problem. Yeah. So it's not that they cut up an interview, it's it's the motive behind it.
So yeah, I think there was something about that. So, I'm trying to think, okay, we can, Yeah, let me find a couple spots here and then we can get at end. So Facebook Live, we're not doing a Facebook Live. Senator Rish is doing a presentation starting at 10:00 for Barb E Hart at his campaign offices.
He is going to recognize her for her incredible courage and strength in the fairness in women's and girls sports act. So we're running down there. Of course. We want to celebrate representative Earhart and the good work she did there. And then we're also going to do a quick little interview with him. He'll be interviewing with a couple of different media outlets.
And so, yeah, so we got to run. We'll be down at Senator, his office and yeah, that's what's going on. So we need to be out at 5650. Okay. Okay. That'll be okay. Yeah. Christine, that's what they did. That answer that actually aired was not even the answer to the question that they asked. They just grabbed it from another part of an answer and put it there because it looked good.
Yeah. Kamala, you know, it would be interesting to take out the inconsequential prepositional phrases that she uses. Just leave anything. That was a unique thought. Yeah. There wouldn't be much in terms of in the process of moving forward. Yeah. As we're rounding out this situation. Oh yeah.
It's 954 on Newstalk 179 on this Wednesday. Neil Larson and Julie Mason, we do want to let you know tomorrow we'll have an interview featuring us Senator Jim Rish, which, we had the opportunity to interview him in person today. So we're looking forward to sharing that with you tomorrow and, being a part of that. And can we talk about the other.
Yeah, I think I think we can mention the event and yeah, it's about, this interview will exist as part of a bigger event that's happening at Senator Rich's campaign office in Idaho Falls. He is taking a moment to recognize representative Barb Earhart. He's recognizing her courageous and strong efforts in the fairness in women's and girls sports act.
I don't think we can ever overstate what she has done for Idaho and for many states across the nation in being courageous enough to bring that about during a very difficult during a very difficult time in our culture. Yes. Yeah. So she's being recognized and, we've been invited to attend that. Yeah. We'll go and looking forward to it.
Celebrate Representative Hart. Yeah. I just received something in, private message. Okay. And it's, Well, I don't want to characterize it too much, but it it is someone who's in a position of influence advocating for proposition one. Okay? And they actually put forward these bullet points, which would make our job very, very easy because I believe that we could counter these one by one, rather methodically, not in an uncivil way, and not in a brutal way.
But I think that the this is a good example of the talking points that they've been using to try and get this thing passed, which they don't really pass the the smell test when you're done. So tomorrow I'm going to take from this and tomorrow we'll dive into this, a little bit, deep. Great, I like it, I like it because that's how you have a debate.
They say what what they feel is appropriate, and then you say your reasons why you think it's not appropriate. Those are the kind of questions that we would love to have that kind of back and forth. We'd love to have with Luke Mayville or with, yeah. Or were with, Todd Achilles, who both led out this effort.
But now we're being completely radio silent. Yeah. And and it's very frustrating because there's we interview our state's political leaders all the time. U.S. senators, the governor. They're not too good for us, right? Even though they're too good for us. Yeah. You're right. All right. Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone. Julie and I are going to cut out of here.
But we'll be back tomorrow with that interview with U.S. Senator Jim Risch right here on Newstalk 179 on this Wednesday morning. Okay, guys, I already I already cut it. Okay. Yeah. All right.
