9.13.2024 -- NLS -- [Bonus Content: Taylor Swift's Preemptive Breakup Song] Navigating the Trump vs. Kamala Showdown
On this episode, Neil dives into Trump’s decision to skip a third debate and speculates on the alleged rigging of the debate process. The conversation gets heated when a caller debates the moral dilemma of choosing between Trump and Kamala Harris. Neil also discusses the controversial topic of exposing children to explicit material in schools and tackles the fine line between political accountability and personal integrity. Whether it's debating foreign policy, campaign tactics, or the morality of today’s politicians, this episode packs a punch, questioning what really matters in leadership.
And it's time for the bonus exclusive content, Julie on this Friday podcast of the Neil Show. So you and I had what we think is a bit of a clever idea. We well go ahead. I was going to say so Neil has gotten pretty good at working with a guy. So he used A.I. to write a song, and it would be the song that would be written by Taylor Swift.
After she breaks up with Travis Kelsey and I'm saying that as an affirmative. That's going to happen because I don't I have no reason to believe that this relationship is going to last. Oh, no. The eternities. So I think it will eventually be a breakup. I mean, in a sense, we're we're just making life a little easier for Taylor down the road because we know this relationship is not going to last.
Yeah. It's not going to. And she's written many a song about a lost love, but she's made a career out of it. So this is the preemptive breakup song between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. For your listening pleasure.
Will air touchdown. But now it's for the long. You call the play he's the baby. You are wrong. You think you're the king of Sunday sing. But even Titans can get caught in between you and your lunch. Boneless. My heart tried to score big. But you do it apart. Oh, Travis, you're not the MVP. Just a boy with the jersey who fumbled me.
You can't tackle a line. It's just a game. You wear your pride like a big last name. But I see right through your Hail Mary, Prince. You just try him with slippery hands. Oh, you think you're strong, but you're not that tough. Turns out even counsel was enough. Now you're benched. Boy, I'm out of your league. Guess you'll have to take someone who likes you.
A clean slate and.
You and your bros always in the beers. But you miss the point. I'm out of here. You can't gronk your way back to my heart. You're just a big guy trying to look smart. He thought you were a catch. But baby, you dropped. I'm the one who made the crowd stop you. Just a highlight reel. Fading away while I'm writing my anthem for another day.
You can't stop love like it's just a game. You wear your pride like a big last name. But I see your after your Hail Mary plans you just to try. And the slippery hands. Oh, you think you're strong but you're not that tough. Turns out even counsel was enough. Now you're benched. Boy, I'm out of your league. Guess you'll have to take someone who likes you.
A cliche. Yeah, yeah. You spiked the ball, but I caught the crew. Maybe next time, try something new. I'm Taylor Swift. I write the plays. And, honey, your your yesterday's haze. Go back to the field, try to save face, but the game's over. I'm setting the pace. You think you're a legend. But you're just a star now. Who's laughing, baby?
Touchdown! That you can't stop a love life. It's just a game. You wear your pride like a big last name. But I see you're after your Hail Mary plans. You're just a tight end with slippery hands. Oh, you think you're strong. But you're not that tough. Turns out even Kelso isn't enough. Now you're back, boy, I'm out of your league.
Guess you'll have to take someone who likes your cleats. Yeah, maybe you'll find love on the field again. But, honey, I'm done with these boys. You pretend this girl's off to write her next big score. And, Travis, I won't be missing you anymore.
Okay, I like it. I did a good job with that, Julie. All right, keep or keep listening for that exclusive content. We always put it at the front of the podcast. All right. Podcasts begin straight ahead. I'm up for any.
New show on just.
Hello, East Idaho, and welcome to Friday. I am happy to be here. I'm loaded for bear. I'm ready to go. And if you'd like to join the program via text, the fall River propane. For some reason, whenever I say that, I hear the jingle in my head. The fall River propane, call and text line is (208)Â 542-1079. I'm going to get a text from them saying never, ever do that again.
Welcome. It's good to have you here today. And I have mixed feelings today. Donald Trump, of course, said that there ain't no way he's doing a third debate. He shut the door on it. There will be no third debate.
Yeah, I get it. And I can't say I disagree with Donald Trump. It's too late. Anyway. The voting has already begun. You gotta go out and vote. We gotta vote. We're gonna. This is going to be the most important vote in the history of our country. Okay? And, of course it is, because it's this one. It's the one that we have before us.
And I believe that the stakes are very, very high. The mixed feelings come because if there was another debate, there was going to be another debate watch party. And I had a great time, as well as Julie meeting, greeting, hanging with chat and with so many of our listeners on Tuesday night that I want to do that again.
However, you know how transparent I am. And sometimes I'm more transparent than maybe I should be, and I'll say things prematurely, but I think I could do this. We are modeling typically on election night, we will do our coverage from the studio because it's so easy. All our equipment's here, they the computer is there. I get her net is here.
It's just a lot easier to execute election coverage when you're in studio. But I thought, wouldn't it be fun to organize a big election results watch party and do it in a big place, like we did at the snake River Event Center on election night? And Julie and I would broadcast from there, but we'd be able to talk to all the politicos, all the listeners.
We could even get people on the phone. We could we could do our election coverage from there. It's just logistically a little more complicated. I am not ruling that out. I think that we might consider doing something like that, but we'd have to get started, doing doing it very soon. And, just let me know if that's something you'd be interested in attending, because I don't want to show up and have 18 people there.
I want to show up and have, you know, five, 10,000 people. That might be a little much, but you know what I'm saying? So, that's under consideration. Also, speaking of that, Julian, I want to see you on Thursday night, this coming Thursday, the 19th of September, we are hosting a special screening of am I racist? That's Matt Walsh's latest documentary at the Paramount Theater in Idaho Falls.
Now, if you will text the word tickets to (208)Â 542-1079, you're going to get a link back. Make sure when you follow that link you choose Paramount Thursday the 19th, 7:20 p.m.. So get your tickets now because these will sell quite quickly. And, we might even look at having a second theater if it's available. Open up if they if they sell pretty fast.
But we'd like you to join us for that. Oh, we thought I heard some good things about am I racist? The previews look hilarious. And and we're looking forward to it. So. Okay, here we have it Donald Trump. No third debate. And I think, like I said, if I'm playing armchair campaign consultant, it is a rigged system. Now the debates are rigged not to vet two candidates that are asking for America's vote.
It is rigged to get one candidate elected. Of course, Kamala wants another debate for her. This is the system aiding and abetting her when she is devoid of accomplishment, when she is devoid of merit, she needs a supplement to her campaign. The David Muir and Linsey Davis hosted ABC news debate was that supplement, that augmentation that she needed to her debate?
And there is no reason whatsoever that Donald Trump ought to be involved. Now, there is speculation. I've seen it. I'm not quite sure what to make of it. I'm waiting for more evidence to come out, but there's a lot of speculation and even rumors that an ABC news whistleblower is going to come forward with an affidavit saying that the questions absolutely were provided to Kamala Harris in advance.
And furthermore, added to that. And right now, again, it's only rumor is an assurance that she would not be fact checked. Now, you might think, well, that's just biased. It's actually a horrific, real horrific. It's it ruins everything because the problem and we absolutely saw this roll out the other night, it allows Kamala Harris to say what ever she wants about Orange Man bad anything.
She went to good people on both sides. She went to bloodbath. She went to suckers and losers. All of these have either been completely uncorroborated or fully debunked. And, we all know if you're even marginally informed, you know, Trump didn't say, well, there are good people on both sides implying what the media has always implied about that or what Joe Biden implies about it.
You know, we all know it. We all know it. David Muir didn't even need a sheet in front of him to say, well, actually, Vice President Harris, he was not talking about the neo-Nazis when he said, good people on both sides, but he didn't do that. When Kamala referenced the bloodbath, it was actually about the automotive industry and about our China policy and tariffs.
And and he was talking about the industry undergoing a bloodbath if the the Democrats policies are in place. So that's what Trump was talking about. He wasn't talking about violence in the streets and killing people. But and David Muir knew that. But he said nothing. So if there was this assurance and this is why I'm suspect. In fact, before I even heard these rumors yesterday, it was the next morning I was reflecting on the debate, and I thought Kamala was told she would not be fact checked, and that's why she felt such a wide latitude to be able to lie without any kind of hesitation about Trump.
She knew she wasn't going to get interrupted. She knew that there wasn't going to be a follow up, that there was not going to be a correction. I guess for me, politics is filled with distortion. I'm I have absorbed that. I don't get a pearl clutching over that. The thing I can't understand is why someone like David Muir, who undoubtedly has worked very, very hard to become the face of ABC's nightly newscast, why he would sell so much of his reputational capital on one event to help this lousy, integrity lacking candidate get elected.
It is a cult. It is a bizarre level of loyalty that these people in the media have, to their own detriment. There's one figure, and I just want to contrast this. Jake Tapper has had his up moments and his down moments. Jake Tapper was one of the few voices. And don't get me wrong here, I'm not liking Jake Tapper overall, but I feel a duty to give credit when it's due.
Jake Tapper called her out on her lies. Jake Tapper called her out on her Non-Answers the very right out of the gate, she was asked, are we better off than we were four years ago? That's a yes or no answer with a follow up. There wasn't any indication. She just said, I have policies. We're going to turn the page for the.
That's not the question, Kamila. The question is, are we better off than we were four years ago? It's the the iconic question that Reagan minted back in 1980, running against Jimmy Carter. And ever since then, that's been a premier question, especially when you have a presidential term where the economy hasn't been so lackluster. The opponent always says, are you better off than you were four years ago?
And we all know the answer to that question. I don't have to answer that. We all know the answer to that question. No, America's struggling America is struggling mightily in a lot of ways, and Joe Biden's presidency has not been a boon to America's morale. And we all know it. We've we're lost right now. We're lost culturally. We're lost economically.
I mean, we're all kind of holding it together, but we have some big problems still with inflation and fuel prices. They've come down some, but they're still higher than we'd like. And we had problems with housing costs. We have problems with wages. And these these are real issues that real people deal with every day. And we know we could do better.
When you stop and think about that, if here's a here's a little exercise and do it if you can, most people may have trouble doing this. Set aside the disdain, sort of this emotional, visceral reaction. You have to candidates you may not like. And set that aside and just ask yourself, what is my day to day life going to be like if I'm not governed my by my emotions, how much will I pay when I have to pull out that debit card at the gas pump?
How big a hit am I going to take when I go to the grocery store? My wife had gone to the grocery store, came home yesterday, and she was telling me, just 2 or 3 items that are now almost double what they were 3 or 4 years ago. Do you remember when we were told, well, it's a supply chain shortage.
That's what it is. And we were essentially, I guess, lied to that. It's supply chain shortages that caused these what were supposed to be temporary price spikes. We haven't gone back. Maybe some prices you could cherry pick that have been eased. But overall we haven't gone back and stuff that was eight bucks is now 15. Stuff that was $3 is now seven stuff I mean and there are multiple.
We all feel it. So that's the real world impact. When you go to that grocery store, how much gets yanked from your bank account in order to just get enough groceries for a week or two? That's the real impact. And yesterday, if you listen to the show yesterday, we had a very, very spicy interaction with one of our listeners who called in and with, what I would call a great deal of sanctimony, bragged about how he can't possibly vote for either Kamala or Donald Trump because they're both morally inadequate for his vote.
And that's fine, I guess I the way I'm wired is very, very different because I believe we have a moral imperative to make the best of even bad situations. And so I get irritated and I'm not going to apologize. I thought I handled the call just fine. Julie was like, you you were doing great. And and, she, she did ask a question, but when I, I would have been less irritated by, far left liberal if they called up and and said, I'm voting for Kamala because.
And then someone who is soft and indecisive and when I presented them with their is a moral issue at stake here. And the moral issue at stake is the border. And we have fentanyl flooding across our border. We have human traffickers flooding across our border. We've lost a third of a million children under Joe Biden's watch. But because Donald Trump has had some affairs in the past, I can't possibly bring myself to vote for him.
Okay? He is the guy. He's fixed the border once. He will do it again. At least it's the only chance of doing it again. But yet, in your sanctimony, pearl clutching, you can't vote for him. And I get impatient with that approach. And the quote I believe it was Ben Franklin. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Who said evil happens when good men do nothing?
And when you find yourself incapable of voting for the only two viable candidates that we have before us, you can't vote for either one. You are one of the good men doing nothing. Nobody cares about your sanctimony. Nobody cares. Some people view their vote as insomnia treatment. They want to sleep better at night. I don't. I view my vote as a way to impact a real day to day outcome for the American people.
Do I love everything about Donald Trump? Absolutely not. He's he's a flawed man like like all of us. He's a flawed man. But he delivered in an amazing way for the United States of America, especially for three of his four years. That last year was, was a complicated Covid year. But without that level of complication economically, we did incredibly well as a country.
I believe culturally we were improving. But, he was such a disruption and a disruptor to the system that it was constant, incessant, all hands on deck. If and if there was an effort to, To get rid of him, I stand corrected. It was Edmund Burke. Which does that reveal? Like, if, you know, there's a quote out there and you can't remember who said it, it automatically gets awarded to Ben Franklin.
Does anybody else do that? Ben Franklin's the default if he can't remember who. Actually. Seven, nine, nine. We'll be back. It's a Friday edition of The Neil Eisen Show coming up. I use.
I. Said, hey, hey, hey, hey. I.
Said you.
Like, if I was a high school band leader. And this is how I would look eating me. But shifting over to the guy on the synthesizer. Right. Welcome back to, our one here. 829 on Newstalk 1079. If you'd like to join us on the fall River propane call and text line, you can. And we are going to do some kind of for a flagpole.
And maybe the question is, should Neil and Julie do debate night coverage at a watch party with everyone? Again, because it's a late night. So would you come? Yeah, that's a good question because it will be late. Eight back in 2020, we were in the studio until about 1:00 in the morning. Were we that late? I think we went off air at about 1230.
And then after we had cleaned up and everything, it was 1:00 when we left here. Oh my. Yeah, that's right. It was super late. It was like we went home somewhat encouraged. And then we got back, I saw a meme yesterday that said Republicans don't need to be to worry about November 5th. They need to worry about November 6th at 3 a.m..
That's that's the danger zone. Pretty, pretty apropos. So last night, really quick, someone texted in about the debate between Barbie Harten and Miranda marquardt. And, about the time I walked in, I saw maybe the last 15 minutes of the debate. They were debating the library porn issue, and I don't I you will you sort this out for me, Julie?
Because the left insists there's no point in libraries. It's not even happening. And those of us who are conservative conservatives are like, yeah, here's a cartoon book with two guys servicing each other orally. If that's not porn, I don't know what it is. I don't think they necessarily consider that porn. So are we arguing over the nature of the material in the library, or are we arguing over the word we call what's in the library?
Or are we arguing over the fact that we want government government to make the decisions with her kids and not parents via laws like, hey, I don't know. I don't know the answer to it because I can't having having raised children, I can't put my place in random. I can't I can't stand there. I don't know who ever thinks it's encouraging to show an eight year old whether it's cartoon images, real porn, inferred porn, I, I don't need to have the definition of porn when it's sexually overt and above the child's learning capacity.
I don't need to be showing it to them. No, no, you you're right. You do not. That is absolutely not age appropriate. But I think there's a growing number of people on the left. I think there's a handful of people in the Republican Party, too, who look longingly over the fence wishing they could be honest Democrats in Idaho.
But whatever that they're okay with young kids seeing adult sexual material in the library. I mean, I won't say porn because people get lost on the definition of that. It is very much adult sexual material that we're talking about. I think I will state this no small kid should see that in any context, ever. I, I also often wonder, did these people take their kids to the library because I did.
Yeah, it was a it was a weekly occurrence, especially in the winter months because you don't have a lot to do in East Idaho that doesn't involve cold. And so to get my kids out and out of the house and things, we had visited the library, that was really common. I was FaceTiming my son the other night, and his two year old was wandering around Barnes and Noble looking at books, handing a book to my to my son, asking him to read it.
And then they put the book back. And then he had another one very reminiscent of what would happen with my kid in the library as they would get older, maybe 4 or 5, we'd all be in the children's section together, but I would let them move on down the row and find the book that they wanted. I wanted this to be a very empowering situation for them.
Yeah, I did that, trusting that the book that my child was going to pull off the shelf at five years old was not going to have cartoon images of porn in it. Yep. That's what I'm asking for from my library, that I can empower my child. That they can fall in love with learning without being molested mentally. Yes.
Agreed? Agreed. So last night I was sitting there and of course I. I play armchair debater some. You know, we all do it. Like, how would I have reacted to this? I think Barb did just fine. So I'm not second guessing how she reacted to that. And this is probably more my style because I, I can be bombastic, like I'll make the room awkward.
And if I had been in that situation, I would have had a couple of extended paragraphs from genderqueer. From some of these books. I would have looked at Miranda and I would have said, Miranda, you choose. Do you want me to read from this or not? Because you can either concede the point or I can prove you wrong.
And just see how she would respond. And and I feel I feel like it's so important as conservatives to call this like it is because the left plays their distortion game. It's not happening. It's not porn, okay? It's two guys pleasuring each other sexually with pictures. What do you want to call that? Yeah, I don't know when you call it.
I'm going to say a nine year old isn't mentally mature enough to be handling that kind of imaging. Agreed. However, that is going to be the age level that picks up this book. If it's in the children's section. Agreed. If they can't answer that question. Yeah, but this is also a group of people that believes it's probably appropriate to be teaching, sexual terms to children in second grade as part of their, as part of their spelling lists, because that's what's happening in Oregon.
Yes. And I want to make a clarification here, Ben, I think you would agree with me. I don't care at all if we teach biological terms. It that's fine. If you teach it. I'll say some big words here. If you teach kids what a penis is, that's fine. Or a vagina. I have no problem with that. But when you start showing depictions of sexual activity between adults, that's too far.
They're not ready for that. They're not going to understand it. They're going to be confused. They're going to grow up with sort of a distorted view of what that's all about. There is an age appropriate level, and it might be a little different for each kid, but under no circumstances should you be showing three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine year olds.
BJ's in a in a in a book. Absolutely not. And the what would be elicited in that child. That child's not ready for that feeling. They don't understand what that is. So and they're doing it alone. That feeling is being elicited alone. So they're not being able to ask questions. And that's how you want to introduce sexual topics to kids as they become mature enough, is to help them come to somebody that they trust, and then have a conversation about it.
Yeah, that's that's healthy parenting, loving parenting. Open conversations are awesome. Introducing sexual feelings into a child at age nine. Not awesome. No, not at all. And in some states, illegal as it should be. Yeah. All right. 208542 179 let's go to the phones. Hi, caller. How are you today? I was good, but you guys got me all riled up this month.
Now. Yeah. What's going on? Oh, I was born in 89. I'm gonna open myself up with that. I do a little bit of it, under it. This isn't a problem. Or maybe not this is this or that. That somebody that struggled with addiction. My first one of my first exposures was again, I was born, maybe my best.
Yeah. My mom, my first exposure was, was the library, the health booking? Yeah. People think this isn't an issue, but just the interest in it as, emotionally as I can actually write that, I can't. It's a problem. It always has been and always will be. Okay, that was one of my first exposures to health book in library.
I remember a couple of bodies of mine, had a red book, kind of good one like that. Taking care of sleeping and not not a big deal. Yeah. So, I dealt with my own addiction. That helped a lot. Addictive recovery courses. I have, attended, Okay. And it started partly there. Yeah. It is not what you think.
I mean, I'm not talking so much to you guys. Yeah. Yes, I get it. But this is something that's carried through my life, through other people's lives. And we talk about kids. Forget about kids. We think this isn't affecting adults. It's just tearing families apart. Yeah. So this is a pretty hot topic for me to think that this isn't a problem, but there's nothing that a library can't do about it.
It's just it's just a static. It's just embarrassing for my community, with my community saying there's nothing going on, there's nothing we can do about it. It's just embarrassing. Well, it's just like, really bad. And then you said, oh, in Idaho we can't do better. That takes me off. On a completely separate note, I'll end with this, totally separate note.
If you guys take just an hour just so bugling, stuff about Trump, when it comes to YouTube videos of him back in the 80s and 90s, three years ago, the guy has done a better job for his own communities for years providing jobs and forget about it's freaking people talk about his big bosses. Yeah, let's say you guys open up many businesses.
See how many of you know what I'm going to start. If you if you like Shark Tank like I do messages businesses fail. Yeah. Anyway. Oh, you know what? I just love your passion. And I want to praise you for your courage, too. It's hard to, you know, call up the most listened to radio show in the history of the universe and share what you've shared.
So thank you. I really appreciate that. Yes. So no, you're you're great. Thank you. We we appreciate you as a listener but as a friend too. So yes means a lot. Absolutely. And somebody who's speaking honestly when maybe there's people that are crafting these laws that are speaking out of turn. Right. Yeah. I haven't dealt with this issue.
Yeah. I, I don't have this addiction problem. So I can't have an understanding of it like someone who has. But I will tell you, I interviewed it, interviewed a school counselor about six months ago that talked about how aggressive the sexual behaviors have become amongst teenagers because they started watching porn at ages nine, ten, 11, 12. And they think that sexual behaviors are aggressive like that.
Well, and and sorry for the slightly salty language here, but why in the hell are people trying to keep that stuff available to kids in the library? We ought to be livid over this. Exactly like the caller said, as a community, which this should be something we're united on. Yes. Yeah. And it's bizarre that we're not. It's 842 on Newstalk 179 on this Friday.
(208)Â 542-1079 Molly that. All right. Here it is 847 on Newstalk 1079. Let's go right to the phones. Caller. Welcome to the show. How are you today. Like they respect our team okay. Go ahead caller Jamie yeah it's you right I just I was privy to your, saucy interaction the other day and, I wanted to call in just because I have a neighbor that.
But had the same the same argument. And and I get it. I understand the desire to have the most normal person. And as president of the country, I think that's great. However, I, I just the problem with that is one we're not voting for, a moral leader, not voting for a leader to be, you know, a prophet or religious figure.
We're voting for somebody who can lead this country and who can do the best job of that. And the second problem with that is you don't we don't always know the the candidates and their background and their history and what they what they've done. And they, you know, Donald Trump, I think he's pretty you know what you're getting.
But with Kamala Harris, I don't want to know all the skeletons that are in her closet. I don't want to know. There's probably there's probably quite a lot there. And and for all the other candidates, you just you just never know what they've done morally. So the question can't be, is is it a good moral person?
It has to be. Who's going to be best to lead this country to where we want to go? Yeah. So that's that's just my thoughts. Well, thank you for the thank you for the call. I think I think this is somewhat nuanced. I remember being a young adult through the 1990s and I was appalled at Bill Clinton. And it wasn't just the infidelity that was so prolific with him, but the sexual assaults that were legitimate accusations, from Kathleen Willey to Juanita Broaddrick to, Paula Jones, I mean, all of that.
It it was such an ingrained pattern with Bill Clinton. It was hard to ignore that. And so I, I agree with this last caller generically that we don't want to go back into every candidate's sexual history and moral history and police everything that they've ever done. But I do think there is a, I guess, a basic sense of moral character that I would like to have in, in politicians, even though I don't think we are electing the pastor in chief, we're not electing, you know, a religious spiritual leader or electing somebody who can who can get things done.
But I almost feel like that, that sense has died with the Lewinsky impeachment era, that we, Bill Clinton, made it possible for any politician in America to have affairs, conduct themselves morally, however they want. And it really isn't going to strongly impact their political life. Right. Let me defend the color, the spicy color yesterday. Okay. Just slightly. Let's defend him.
I yearn for people to not be morally bankrupt. I think we'd have a much better country if those were the kind of people that were running our our political atmosphere. Yeah, okay, I get his desires, but his misplaced virtue was what I had an issue with yesterday. Yeah. So there's no problem hoping that your candidates are good men and women morally.
Unfortunately, we live in a non liberal country. Like, do you listen to Hollywood at all? Do you listen to music? Do you watch movies? Have you heard what comes out of these people's mouths? Have you seen the money scandals? It is what it is and I hate that explanation. But if that's what I'm being presented with, then I'm going to start looking for a way that I can insulate my family with the best possible life that they can have.
And therefore, I'm going to ignore what Kamala Harris did to get to the top. And I'm going to ignore what Donald Trump did in his past times in his other marriages. I'm going to ignore that as well. And what I'm going to pay attention to is who is going to lead the country better. And that's not going to be some third party candidate that doesn't even have an option to lead the country.
Yeah. So I'm going to pick between the two and in this in this option here Harris Trump. It's blatantly obvious who's going to give my children a better shot at shot at success I'm choosing Trump. Yeah. Can we go back for a moment to John F Kennedy JFK. If I were to look at all the Democrat presidents in this last century, JFK would be among the top.
He was. I think he was a solid president economically. He was a supply side guy, kind of similar to Reagan, I think he loved America. I think he stood up to Russians and Cuba in the Cuban Missile crisis. I think he did some things with the Federal Reserve. A lot of people speculate that may be what got him killed.
So I think that, I look at JFK, he did a lot of very solid things for the country. He was a massive philanderer. I read O'Reilly's book a few years ago, killing Kennedy. He was, cad. Yes, he was, yes, he was. And in that era, the media just didn't really cover that. It was like, okay, that's the president's secret kind of life.
I guess that might be one of the perks of being at that level. Nobody likes it. Nobody really defends it. But do you discount what he could deliver for the country because of that? Like what? At what point now? I have a point. I don't want somebody who goes after children sexually, as I don't care what they offer in a public life.
There are limits to that. Now, I look at Donald Trump. There are so many false accusations against him, I have no idea what's true and what's not true. But you have people who believe every last one of the accusations. We had an attorney, clip on the other day talking about Eugene Carroll's case there that never should have seen a courtroom.
She can't remember where she was. She can't. There's so many things that you would remember if it really happened that she essentially had no case in any other context, but it was Donald Trump. So they made a case out of it. It's like Alfred Bragg's crap that he put to Donald Trump. It's Donald Trump. So we'll find a way to make a case with it.
And so I look at Trump and I'm thinking, has he cheated on his wife? Yeah, I think he probably has. But we don't know if he's repented or not. It's and it's none of our jobs to judge where he's at in that regard. Spiritually, our criteria now is how can he make the country better and can he make it safer?
Can he look out for the future of our kids and our grandkids? Can we protect the border? Can we have more national security? Those are the metrics that that probably people should have in their minds. And if all of that gets derailed because you don't like his his checkered moral history, to me that's very, very sad because when you look at people, everyone is flawed.
But most people have some offsetting virtues to outweigh their flaws. And I would say as value to the nation, Donald Trump has a massive amount of offsetting virtue that he brings, that counter counterweight or counterbalance his flaws. I, I want to hit on foreign policy because I believe that that's actually some part of the debate that we really didn't dissect, because I felt like Trump did a great job of that when he mentioned that he, handed Abdul a picture of his house.
What a chess move. That. Yeah, I read a thread on this yesterday that that actually did happen. Yeah. It this that has been confirmed that he did exactly that. That's the man I want defending my homeland. Yeah. I don't want somebody like Kamala Harris who went off and met with Putin in Ukraine. War started three days later. Yeah.
I want someone who scares everything up. All of that evil out of those men. Yeah, that are trying to harm America. And that's what Trump brings to the table. I felt like he did a great job of explaining that in the debate. Yeah. And that's important to me. Far more important, far more important than figuring out who he slept with in 1996.
Yeah, agreed. Well said. Quick break, 857. We're up against the clock.
Our 20907 Neil and Julie. Friday the 13th. That's all you need to know. We should have had, like, the music, the the scary movie music. The hours not over. Okay, let's do it. You want you request that? Oh, I'll make that happen. By the way, if you'd like to join us on the fall River propane call and text line the numbers (208)Â 542-1079.
And we're going to jump right to the phones. We've had some calls. They've been waiting through the news break. And I don't want them to have to wait any longer. Caller how are you today? Good morning. I'm coming to you live from Springfield, Ohio. Oh, how's the cast? So put that chat down. Not one of them. Bad result.
That's one of the problems. I don't know, you can only take two cats at a time. I have three cats. There's a lot of. It's an outrage. You out here trying to get these people off the feed. But I want to share a story with you. I got a friend. He's in the military. I won't tell you where.
What branch. But. But a year and a half ago, the military base that he was working on, they started bringing migrants in as part of the Biden middle of the night flying in operation. And they were housing them in, you know, the government, military barracks and on the military base. This place is huge. There's wildlife amongst wildlife, there's turkeys.
They caught these migrants. This is a true story. They call it these migrants. They had access like cleaning supplies. They got a hold of the broomstick. They were sharpening the sticks and killing the turkeys on the military base. So just add some credence to this cat eating story from the migrants. Totally plausible. Wow. Okay. All right, interesting context.
There. Yeah. That's all okay. Take the cats and dogs. Okay. Well, then get after it. Thank you. I saw somebody liken it to the Christine Blasey Ford accusations. Yeah. She couldn't tell you anything. A house, a street who was there could point any of that. Yeah, we were supposed to believe her 100%. Yeah. We have videos of migrants carrying geese by the neck.
We have 9.1 call to the to the dispatch center. We have a kid who was hit a while on school bus and died. We have another woman who was taking her trash to the to the street. And an illegal immigrant hit her as she was putting her trash can on the street. He came up on the sidewalk and killed her.
We have plenty of examples of how this illegal immigration into Springfield, Ohio has gone wrong. Yeah, and we're not supposed to believe it because the city manager said not to believe it yet. Right. And and you fact check on the cats. So yeah. Right. Christine Blasey Ford but leave without any proof. Yeah. That's Ohio residents. Oh they're all lying.
They're just making it up. The city manager said so yeah. Yeah that's a, that's that's a really good point. 285421079. You know what's frustrating about this? In fact I would make a near prediction here. There will be a story at some point where, yes, they have taken and eaten pets, and the national media will do nothing with it.
It'll make its way around conservative media. David Muir will not apologize. He won't do a correction or a clarification or anything of the sort. They'll just ignore it completely. That's exactly what Rachel Maddow did about the Covid vaccine. She was completely wrong. Did you hear that from her mouth? Not at all. No, no, not not a word. All right.
(208)Â 542-1079 Caller go ahead. How are you today? Well good morning ma'am. Good morning Julie, I've enjoyed your show today. You've made a lot of good points. Thank you. And I agree with you 100%. Yeah, I don't care. The personal life is our personal life. Guys. Anyway, that's all I have to say. Today was. And, you you both have a wonderful day.
Don't forget to be heroes. Okay, well. We'll try. Thank you very much for the calls. (208)Â 542-1079. All right, let's go to our next caller. You're on the program. Good morning. Good morning guys. I want to go back to, Tuesday. You guys played a clip, that has haunted me all week. The one, in the Maryland, abortion clinic, where the woman let me catch our listeners up, where the woman made the phone call to the Maryland abortion clinic and talk to her about late term abortions.
They said they absolutely, absolutely have done it. They've done many. And she walked her through the entire procedure. Okay. Now go on with what you were saying. Yeah, yeah. I had to pull over because and I'm getting emotional just thinking about it now. You know, we're not supposed to vote with our emotions, but you take that emotion, and I hope you guys play that clip again on the 4th of November.
You take that emotion, you go to that voting booth, and you vote for that baby who will never be able to go home and I thank you for playing it. And I'll play it again. I gotta go cause I've lost my emotion. But thank you guys for all you do. Have a great weekend. Oh, thank you very much.
I appreciate that we understand everything you're feeling, by the way. Yeah. There's a reason we argue this point so much. Yeah, is because there is no one advocating for the unborn baby. Well, and we also live in a culture where the other side. And we've seen this on library porn, we've seen this on vaccines. We've seen we've seen it everywhere.
They lie, to sort of project a truth that they want. It absolutely is happening that abortion clinics are providing abortions right up to the point of birth. And I have should I play the call? Yeah. Go ahead. I know it's it's very powerful. Yeah. It is. So this is a young woman. She's been her mid 30s. She can't I'm not going to play the whole thing.
But I will play the last few seconds here. And she calls this, Bethesda, Maryland abortion clinic and asks about getting an abortion. She said her boyfriend left her. It's just a terrible time now. She doesn't want to have the baby. And just very matter of factly, the person on the other end of the phone from the abortion clinic is saying, oh yeah, this is very common.
Here's what will happen, will inject the baby's heart with these drugs. It'll take 3 or 4 days and you'll have some discomfort. But this is, I think, for me, the chilling part. Listen to this contraction and increase the dilation of your cervix. You're going to have contractions and cramping and then will assist you in sort of pushing in the induction and then remove all of the products of conception.
You're definitely going to feel discomfort and cramping and a lot of pressure. But we do give you fentanyl in for said during the procedure. We specialize in later trimester care. Our doctor is very well versed in what he's doing and he's very good. So I'm not like a rare situation. Y'all help women this late in pregnancy all the time.
All the time, all the time. The product of conception. Not a baby product of conception. I when I heard that, it's so chilling. And there's this recognition that we duly live in an age of maximum evil. Like, this is the stage where we look back on previous civilizations and they're tossing babies in the volcano to appease the gods when they talk so casually and matter of factly about killing an unborn child up to the end moments of a pregnancy without any kind of emotion.
It's just another procedure. We're broken. We are broken, we are broken. I, I would love for someone who works at that abortion clinic. This woman who's giving this to talk to two of my friends. I have two. Two? I would call them casual friends, but I know their lives very well. I would have them talk to two of my friends who lost babies, who were excited for that delivery date to come, and 2 to 3 weeks before that delivery date.
All of a sudden, there was no more movement inside of their their stomach. Yeah. And they knew their heart knew something was wrong. Yeah. And asked and have those two women explain to that woman how disgusting it is to refer to that baby as a product of conception? Can I add one other layer to that product is a term we use for economic commodities, things that get bought and sold.
Those are products. And that's exactly what Planned Parenthood does with this. There's a reason why they call it a product, and they don't simply mean it's tissue that's produced in conception. No, it's a product to them. Yeah. It's an ugly thing. I, we have talked about it a lot this week. We don't understand how you can worship God and worship at the abortion altar as well, how those two things are contradictory.
And there is such a just a canyon between the two concepts. They can't even they can't they can't crossover. Yeah. Yet you're doing it. Yeah. You sent me audio dueling. This is the Virginia House of Commons. And it's some kind of a legislative hearing. And there is one of the lawmakers and her name is, Kathy Tran, a delegate.
Kathy Tran, putting forward and a bill, a bill about abortion. And listen to this Q&A. This bill would remove the following statutes, trap or targeted regulations of abortion providers, removing language, classifying facilities to perform five or more first trimester abortions per month as hospitals. It would repeal Virginia's informed consent, mandatory ultrasound, and 24 hour delay. Repeal the requirement that second trimester abortions be performed in a hospital licensed by the state Department of Health.
It would repeal the requirement for two additional physicians in cases of third trimester abortions, telling a Tran as how late in a pregnancy would your bill apply if a physician would simply willing to certify that that the, continuation of the pregnancy would impair the mental health of the woman? How late are we talking about? So so the way the suggestion that we've, made in the bill is to say it's in the third, trimester and, you know what the certification of the physician.
So, so how late in the third trimester would you be able to to, to do that? You know, and it's very unfortunate that there are physicians, witnesses were not able to attend today to speak. This reminds me of Ketanji Brown Jackson saying, well, I'm not a biologist, so I can't answer your question of what a woman is.
She's like, you don't need a physician to say how late in the third trimester. That's you. She knows. She knows the answer to that question and she doesn't want to answer it. And so she's saying, well, our physicians aren't here to answer that question. Do you also understand the danger that she's putting by this bill, the danger that she would be putting the female in?
They tout health care, health care, health care, health care. But in this the text of this bill, she is saying that in the second trimester, in the third trimester, that abortion could be performed in a clinic and not in a licensed hospital. Yeah. That is so dangerous. Go back and watch the movie. Gosnell. All right, a little more of this specific.
I'm talking about your bill. How? Yeah. How late in the third trimester could a physician perform an abortion if he indicated it would impair the mental health of the of the woman or physical health? Okay, okay. I'm talking about the mental health. So, I mean, through the third trimester, the third trimester goes all the way up to 40 weeks.
Okay. But to the end of the third trimester. And I think we have a limit in the bill. So,
Where it's obvious that a woman is about to give birth, she has physical signs and that she is about to give birth. Would that still be a point at which she could request an abortion if she was so certified?
She's dilating. Mr. Chairman, that would be a, you know, a decision that the doctor, the physician and the woman understand that I'm asking if your bill allows that. My bill would allow that. Yes. All right. We'll stop there. You've heard enough to say how comfortable she is? Very much so, yes. Ugly. And she knows it's ugly. Yes.
That's why she's uncomfortable answering these questions. And she's working very hard to suppress her own conscience there. She knows how horrific this is, that she wants to pass this bill that would allow the murder of a baby, even when the when I say the mother that she doesn't deserve that title if her decision is to kill the baby.
But even if the pregnant woman is ready to give labor, she's having contractions, that Bill would still allow an abortion to happen. Yeah. Yep. And she's uncomfortable saying it. Yeah, I should tell you volumes. All right, let's go to our next caller. Thanks for waiting, caller. Go ahead. Well, you know it's you. Yeah. What's on your mind?
And, you know. Good morning. Hey, I got a question for you. Are you on a speakerphone? Yeah, I just, I let me take it. Yeah, right. If you two. And that goes for everyone calling in. If you'll just call, speak directly to us on your handset. That would be great. So yeah. Yeah, I got it now. Thank. Thank you.
Anyway. Good morning. You too. I want to go back to something I saw yesterday, and it's not on the abortion issue. If I frankly, if I think about the abortion issue, it just it makes you angry. So I try to stay away from it a little bit. But anyway, yesterday I saw a video and going back to the Springfield, Ohio and the killing of cats and people at the police in Springfield.
On the video yesterday that I saw where detaining a Haitian woman for killing a cat were actually had her open her mouth to see if there was blood and stuff in her mouth and was and this is on a video yesterday and they actually had it released discuss it, the warrant officer, and then they arrested her. Did you guys see that?
Know do they know like what she was eating like raw meat. Is that what they are? The cat. The cat was laying on the road over on the other side of one of the squad cars. Is this the one that the video was yesterday? Was it a Haitian woman? Okay, that I don't think she was Haitian. She is black.
They haven't proven that she's a Haitian immigrant. So that video is has been out circulating for about 4 or 5 days. But they have that they haven't been able to prove that this woman is a Haitian immigrant. And it's looking like she's not still disturbing and absolutely disturbing. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. And it isn't the only piece of evidence that is out there that there are immigrants taking pets and park animals and and using them for either sacrifice or for food, one or the other.
But. Right, right. Well, anyway, I that that's all I want to say. I just said that I saw it yesterday and, I didn't know for sure, but I thought I'd just bring it up to you. Okay. Well, thank you, for the call. Yeah. That's been a story that's kind of bouncing around and conflating the issue a little bit.
It is. It's a very disturbing video, but it's not really connected to the Haitian immigrant. Right. Crisis. All right, let's go to next, our next caller. Caller. Go ahead. How are you? Is this me? Yes. It's you. Go. Go ahead. Okay. All right. I wish those of you have listened to the rebuttal. And I can tell you about the debate.
Yeah, I have it's something we can't play because there would be. She swears a lot in it. She's very passionate. We'd have to be bleeping it a lot. Yeah, she's very angry. Yeah, but I thought she made some good points. Yeah. So. Okay. That's all I had. All right. Thank you. Thank you for the call. You know, she does make some good points and.
Yeah, and, I mean, you could go out and find it. You do need to be prepared for a lot of swear words if you find it. Pergamum is. We've been flooded with tons of audio, too. Like it's hard to get to to all of it. Let's go to the next caller. You're on the program. Caller. Good morning. Hi.
Good morning. Hi. I just wanted to say I can't I can't stand how people do not value life. So I was one of those babies who was unwanted, absolutely, 100% unwanted. And my life has been beautiful. And we have they. How do they judge who's who? Deserves to live and die. And that's all I got to say, because they they have no idea what that life is going to be.
Thank you for that. We've had multiple calls filled with passion today, in the last hour. In this hour. And there's nothing to add to that call. There's nothing. It's very rare that I get brought to tears here. You're the crier. Yeah. Not me, but I just as a mother who has cared for three children, two of them, and spent extensive time in the NICU, I.
It is. I'm with her. I don't understand how you just discount the life of a child. Even if it comes early, even if it's in the second trimester, even if it's in the third trimester. My children have value. They're they're now bringing kids into the world. They're doing amazing things. They're being the kind of community members that we want in this world.
And it doesn't matter to them because life doesn't matter. It's so sad. Let's go to this call. You're on the program. Caller. Good morning. Hey. Good morning. How are you? Doing pretty well with, I wanted to maybe shift topics a little bit. Trump has mentioned that he's not going to do another debate, and I'm wondering what you think about that.
Does that kind of make him look weak? Maybe because he's not. Oh, no. Wanting to do a lot of so I, I don't believe so I, I think that these debates are rigged against him and my, my point on it is that the debates ideally are designed to put both candidates on display. They both should get hard questions and be expected to answer those questions.
But these debates now are designed to engineer a particular outcome. Kamala Harris needs help. She needs to be propped up. And sadly, ABC news did everything that they could in their power to prop him up. There is no reason why Donald Trump should participate in that kind of a scheme, and I support him wholeheartedly in saying no more debates.
I don't think it makes him look weak at all. I think it just makes him look smart and and it's exactly what he should do. Okay. Sounds good. Merkley, Van Camp and Robin, as mentioned, something pretty good yesterday about how when they have a debate, they should allow the candidates to choose who the opponents question is going to be.
Yeah. So they said, oh, Trump should choose Peter Doocy as Kamala question. And Kamala should be able to choose somebody to question Trump. I would love to know. Yeah yeah. But Kamala will never agree on she'll never do that. She'll never do it. Personally. Yeah. No. Thank you for the call. Yeah. I mean, I, I love all these scenarios.
I, I love a Lincoln-Douglas style debate where there are no rules. You just put them on a stage for two hours and let them go after each other. Think the rest? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, but these have now become so tightly controlled with no audience, with mics getting shut off with, that you just don't feel like you're getting the full breadth of what these candidates have to offer.
Yeah. So, yeah. And if it does come to fruition, I, we haven't mentioned at this hour there is a report out there that there's a whistleblower at ABC who has worked through a lawyer and has provided documents showing that the questions were, given to Kamala in advance. And we just know now we're gonna have to see if that comes true.
Yeah, it's been leaked that that's going to happen. Supposed to happen before the weekend. It's Friday as of this morning. We still don't have any set proof on that. We'll just have to see. So if you've been hearing that rumor out there, we've heard it too. There is no set proof yet. We're we're keeping our eye on it though.
All right. 930 on Newstalk 1279 quick break. Okay, okay. Do you want to read the one that's addressed to you just in the text feed? It says Neil. Oh, yes. He talked to me about this last night and I told him, I said, Will you text me if you don't hear me talking about it? Because I forget everything?
So yeah, yeah, yeah. All right. What are you going to do this weekend? You don't have a game. I don't have a game. Do they play the. When are you watching the game? Monday. When is it? They play at noon on ESPN. Plus. They're in grand Forks playing University of North Dakota, so. Okay. Yeah, I'll probably get all my, like, yardwork chores and crap done by noon and watch the game.
And I'm going to be doing some writing as well. I, I'm going to I will be writing as well. And then, recording and then I'm going to decorate my front porch with my fall decor. Oh, good for you. Yeah. You got the weather to match it. Yeah. For sure. Yeah. And yes, we did place our GPS perimeter order.
We're picking it up after the show. Oh, I didn't call for you. I suck, you hate me. Well, I did place the original order. That's true. She did.
The Robert, the announcement before the debate was the fact that we're holding a watch party. No, we're holding a movie night movie screening for the movie screening of I Am Reese or am I racist at the Paramount Theater. So it is a week from yesterday, and you can get information about it if you just text the word tickets to (208)Â 542-1079.
Yeah, I did. You read that tweet about what's her name, the White Fragility author? Yeah, yeah. Yes. She's now deleted her. She's lost her mind. She has lost her mind. I can't wait to see this film because apparently Matt Walsh shows up, but he's dressed like some liberal, and he pressures her into giving a black man cash for reparations.
And she does it like it's. It's laughable. Yeah. Also, that's how movable these people are. Oh, yeah. Yeah. They have no foundation. Easily shamed. You don't hate me. It's just a real strong disdain.
Okay. This Roku Fox News app just keeps crapping out on me. I'm still not convinced if we ought to be, if we should do election night coverage at a watch party. I like the idea, but there's good and bad to it. Yeah, I want to make sure we have all our technical bases covered because it's, there's a lot to consider.
Can I just say to our texting this week has been so insanely robust, such good participation by all of our listeners on Facebook, on text, lots of phone calls to. Yeah.
It is supposed to get back up in the 80s on Sunday. Oh, okay. All right. So there will be one warmer day.
Of course, this is the segment where we talk about the finest in Haitian cuisine. And if you'd like to reach us (208)Â 542-1078. Rachael Ray's on the ground in Springfield. That 30 minute recipes.
You know what? I love? How we're having so much fun with this. The Democrats are mad that we're having so much fun with it. And fact checking like nerds. And they realize we don't care that you're upset that we're having fun with this. Okay, so remember we played the clip from Mark Lee, VanCamp and Robbins where they had slowed down Trump.
And he's he's put to music. And he said they're eating the dogs. They're eating the cats. Yes. Yeah okay I guess that was made by a flaming liberal. And he is so mad that Republicans have picked up on it and used it for their benefit. Yes. Which means I need to play it again. Yes. You do make him even more mad.
All right. We'll play it after this call. Corey welcome to the show. How are you. Good morning Neil and Julie. So we have, freedom of choice and speech in America of course. But I don't really understand why musicians or actors who become influential and famous endorse socialist. Communist. Because it is not for America. A free nation was capitalism.
They will not even have a platform to become famous. If they lived in Russia, China and North Korea. It would have no measure of success. So we just put a song out there that contrasts freedom with communism. And since it's your show, I wanted to ask if you could put a quick plug in for it or if not, what?
What is it and how do people get it? Like what's what? What would you like the audience to do? Well, it, it's our group is called We Belong In. The song is called Never Have Freedom to Blame and it's out there on Apple Music, Spotify and other places. So thanks so much. Well, great. You here back you you had a Christmas sing along and we did a version of God rest you merry gentlemen.
Okay. So our group is we belong. Thank you. Okay. Great. Thank you for the call I appreciate it. Great. So yeah, check that out. All right. Okay, I have it clip. Let's play it. All right. Here. Here we go. And we'll enjoy together. We're the this the cheese in the cake. We scream. You're eating the cat. They're eating the door.
They're eating the cat in Springfield. Okay. I'm saved. That is super funny. It's so good. And you have people dancing to it on TikTok now, which is why that guy is getting so mad. Yeah, people dancing to it with Trump shirts on, and he's just angry that it's been turned to a positive for Trump in some way. Okay.
Dude, you went viral. This just be happy with that. Oh, whether it was the clever or clever bit, don't worry. Who's who's benefiting and whose is that? Sad then you know. Oh well, it's part of the Trump derangement Syndrome. It's just how they are. Everything is bitter. Everything is angry. Every. You can't laugh. You can't. You can't let things roll.
You can't. There's none of that. Because you're so caught up in this. That's just negativity. Yeah. It's in your soul. It is. They're they're the most miserable people on earth. They're a they breathe. Which I don't know if now's a good time to go into another Miranda Margaret clip, but we're going to take a break. We'll be back after this.
938 On Newstalk 170. There may be a theme to the bumper music this hour, the chicken Dance. Oh, that's what this is. Hold holding back after this. A Newstalk 1078.
Oh.
Okay. I did see a clip from the I want to say granddaughter. It might have been daughter. Yeah, of the woman who was killed taking her trash can to the curb when the illegal immigrant came up on the sidewalk and ran her over, and she said something along the lines of, I appreciate that. It's being at least looked at now because people started talking about the geese and the pets.
Yeah, and the danger, she said. But there is much bigger problems going on than that. Those are problems. Yeah, but there's bigger problems. Like my I think it was her. It was the granddaughter, but that that woman had died and that the 11 year old boy died in the bus accident and that, that there isn't enough, social service programs now available for the people who were initially residents of that town.
Yeah. You know, that's a really good point, but but I just want to point out and I, I'm a little salty today, so I'm sorry if you don't like this term those issues don't piss off the left. Yeah they don't. But when they cats they're eating the cats. They're eating the dogs. That makes the left mad. So I, I get it.
I agree in terms of moral outrage, but I'm fine with this. Okay. Okay. That's memories from the, the musical cats. So I'm going to play that coming back. You okay. You're a little distracted. What's going on I, a person's not getting the Facebook Live link and I'm wondering did I, did I update it all the way.
Maybe I didn't. Oh I just fixed it. Did you see the meme with the cat that looks like the marine flag and it says don't snack on me.
Forever ago, probably two years ago, my daughter put up a TikTok where she was inside my house and she was like, sad that I didn't have any good snack foods. Yeah. And so she puts out a piece of bread and she lays my dog cute on the bread. And then she puts another, like, getting hungry. Oh that's great I love that.
That's funny.
Do I have time to go to the bathroom? Two minutes. You can do it. Okay, I'm gonna add I'm not getting a clean feed from your computer. It's all, like, squiggly. Oh, yeah, we got we. I'm not getting a clean feed, which can be a problem. Okay. I'm gonna. I'll be back. Hey, hey, hey. Niagara falls, Lake Michigan.
All right. What are you guys doing for the weekend? I asked Neil what he was doing. I said I was putting out my fall decor. Hey, are there there any good movies coming out? Am I racist releases today? But you're waiting to go with this on Thursday, right? So you're not going to that one. Football is in full swing.
So there'll be football games in, East Idaho tonight, mostly for high school. Let's see, I don't think there's any big TV events this weekend or on Sunday other than the NFL. Oh my goodness. I haven't talked to the Tennille about this. Do any of you guys follow the NHL and hockey? And that player and his brother were killed and they were on bikes.
They were, hit by someone while they were on bikes. And the NHL player died. Well, his funeral was this week. And the wife of that NHL player revealed in the funeral that she's pregnant. They hadn't revealed it to anybody. So not only did she lose her husband, she's now lost the support for the baby she's going to be delivering in seven months.
So sad. All of that is just so heartbreaking. Someone's filing abuse claims for you. Hitting me in the head hits you in it. Just pushed your hand a little.
Sheriff level is coming here. No, Sergeant level is coming here. In in, like, three hours, so I'll make sure that we pull this video and file something. I'm so scared.
They're reading the cats. They're reading the dogs. Okay, here we go.
Here. All right, Julie, who's saying it? Stray cats? Yes. Good job. That only happens in about one of every 20 times of the song. So, you you should go buy a lottery ticket. It's Friday the 13th. I just got stray cats. Right. I need to go buy a lottery ticket. You really should make it up to, like, close to a billion.
A good idea. I don't play the lottery, but. All right. Yeah, well, again, we're talking about the finest in Haitian cuisine. This, segment. So.
Okay, I didn't even get that. It was stray cat. I. Yeah. No. Yeah. I thought you just picked a song. Oh, no. It's it's great bumper music. Well, I had this one all all ready to go to.
Memory from cats. Musical. Yes. I like stray cats better. Yeah, I do too. Yeah. I was using the restroom that stray cats will be better rock this town. We got to go with that. Oh. All right, here's the deal with the lottery. I don't need Mega millions. Yeah, yeah, I give me a couple million. I'm thrilled. You're good to go.
Yeah, I'll give a million half to the government. But the half of the back, a million to the government. Keep a million for myself because they did so much to deserve it. Yeah. And yeah, I'm not greedy when it comes to the lottery that free money is free money. Government can take half of the free money. So, okay.
Next. Caller. Caller. Go ahead. How are you today? I'm doing fine. I guess I'm doing the seven nine. You are on the. I have a question. At what age is a death certificate required for a child? All right, leading up to, There should be a requirement. If we're saying a child is born, it is a person.
If they are allowed to die, shouldn't there be a death certificate? It has to be. So let me ask you a question. Do you know the answer to this question? I do not. Okay. Yeah, I don't either. So and I don't know, a recession question either. Who pays for the, materials that are in the library? Does this does the state, the county, or are they just, sell by people who don't care?
So the the library is, I believe, funded by the library district, which is just a taxing district like ambulance and city and county and hospital and whatever. But there are also lots and lots of donations, so people will donate cash or they may donate a book collection or whatever. So libraries are big recipients of philanthropy, but they're also taxpayer funded too.
So the answer is not really clear. Okay. Well, I got two answers are not clear. Yes. All right. But I was listening to you talking about, that nine and ten year olds picking up, these magazines or books as I, I don't understand why, a library should be providing that type of information to the public. It looks like if you wanted it, you should go buy it or something.
But I don't see why taxpayers should be footing the bill. Yeah, for bringing pornography into existence. And, you know, you guys are saying, child of 8 or 9 years old, but I'm sure that it was clear up into their 20s or something that they're. Yeah, yeah. But I don't I don't see any reason at all why the library should have to consider having that type of material available.
Well of course, yeah, I don't know. That's the argument. Well, I you know what? I appreciate your call. You're certainly not alone. We've had that sentiment before. I just don't want to go down the road. Of saying libraries can't have that material because then you I mean, we don't want anybody to have that sort of power, although they do exert that power for reasons they can't possibly house every book and every printed material in the universe.
Right. So they have to make some decisions. Yeah, but I don't know that they should say no to material because some adults find it offensive. Our big concern here is don't let it be accessible to the kids. That's that's our thing. I think you're going down a really dicey road for from the First Amendment when you say you can't even have it in the library or you shouldn't have it in the library, don't make it available to it.
You know for even adults to, to look it up, I don't want somebody else with that power. For me it's just about it's a it's a child protection discussion. It's not an adult libertarian choice discussion. To answer one of his questions as well. I was talking to a teacher once who when this was probably in the first version of the library porn bill.
So this is a couple of years ago, and she was saying that she received a grant. She had written a proposal, received a grant. She got additional books for her classroom via this grant. Well, they sent her a series of books. She previewed it slightly and then started to read it with her. I think they were fourth graders.
Yeah, they got through about the first half of the first book and she went, oh, we're not reading this series anymore. And she pulled the whole entire series, so she received those books for free based upon a grant. These grants are our life support for these libraries and for these school teachers. But then you're going to have people who like to get harmful materials and a kids hands in using these books as part of a grant and saying, hey, let's send these materials.
And that's how the materials get into the libraries or into the school libraries or into the classroom. Yeah. I'm grateful for teachers like her who could recognize that this series of books was going down the wrong pathway, and she pulled the series. But we're asking for adults to love children enough to protect them. You think that's the key or missing here?
They don't love children enough? No. Well, can I reference the clips that we've played earlier about passing bills that allow babies to be murdered? Right up to the point of, I mean, they don't love children. Yeah. Which is a weird thing to say, right? Like, it's a weird reason, but they don't I don't know why somebody becomes a schoolteacher if you don't love kids.
Yeah, I agree, I agree. I don't, you know, I don't love math, but I'm going to be a CPA, you know, like, yeah, right. That makes sense. That's true. I don't love to bake, but I'm going to work at, Geraldine's or neater or, you know, I weigh 1,100 pounds, but I'm going to be a physical trainer. Just doesn't make sense.
Yeah. All right. (208)Â 542-1079 guess what, Julian, I get to do after this. Today we get to go over to Grand Peaks Prime Meats because we finally got around to making our order. We meaning Julie. Well, we wrote it down together. I just called it in. Yeah. That's true. And, time to fill up the freezer, because we went through our last batch in a fairly short amount of time.
And we love everything that we've gotten from Grand Peaks, primates. And you know how good they are. So I'm calling in that order. And I gave you our order, and then I give my order, and she's talking to me and she's like, okay, are on those Chuck Krauss, how much weight would you like? Like 3 pound Chuck gross there.
She's even identifying how many people I'm going to feed with the chuck crust so that I get exactly what I want. That's the kind of care you get at GP primates. It's fantastic quality plus fantastic customer service. They will be friends of yours. They're friends of ours. GP primary Stock comm, which kind of irritates me because I want them to only be friends with me.
They want to be friends with everyone I know they do. It's fine. A little jealousy there, but GP primates.com you you will not be disappointed because we've had people say are they really as cute? And then people buy it and we hear from them too, where they text in and say, well, we had the steaks. They were awesome.
Yes. Yeah. And we've tried a couple of new things this time, so we're excited. They offer on their specials right now because that's what we went through on the tab. They were offering these gigantic shrimp. And so Neil got some of those. Yeah. And then I got some spicy hamburger patties. They've added some additional stuff to the ground beef.
Formed them into hamburger patties. Then they sell them separately. So I'm going to try those I saw you're going to tell me how good they. Yeah. Yep. All right. Let's go to our next caller. Really quick caller. We have just a couple of minutes. What's up for me? Yes. Go ahead. Just a question about abortion.
Male to understand who actually went on the road versus wade abortions were a federally funded. Well, it's a little complicated. The federal government was sending hundreds of millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood. It was technically illegal to use that money to perform abortions, but it went into fungible account. So Planned Parenthood could actually, that freed up other money so that they could.
So that's roughly correct. Yeah, because they can claim that they're doing, like reproductive education. They, they will, attend fairs or possibly go into a college and teach with that funds. So it's just money thrown into a pot. And they claim that that government money that they don't use it for abortions. So only indirectly. Yeah. I couldn't help but wonder, as part of what I love about you on the left making such a fuss over the overturning of Roe v Wade was kind know they're losing the money that they.
Oh, we're getting into, no doubt about it. Yeah, I'm sure they lost some money, but I do believe it's still coming in. Yeah, I think the Democrats will find a way to to send funding their way. I don't think it was necessarily Roe v Wade that authorized that funding. But it certainly didn't help. All right. We are we are backed up against the clock at the moment.
We'll take a break and come back. We'll wrap it up after this. On Newstalk 1079. I just want to point out, yeah, our audience would if I asked them the question, our Facebook audience, which one of us is wearing shorts for. I bet all 45 would say Neil. Yes, I'm actually the one in shorts today, even though it's getting cold.
Yeah, well, that was my first question. You walked in today and I'm like, it's cold, you're wearing shorts. She's the one that marks me because I wear shorts. Sometimes when it's cold. But she walked in and yeah, I've got shorts on today but it's Mr. Sunshine so that's. Yeah that's the hope. It's. But it's still short. Whether we have a window like this during the spring to where it's a heater in the morning, and then it's an air conditioner in the afternoon.
Yeah.
Should I play something by the birds or by the animals? Which ones are most recognizable? It's fun. For the animals, you could. It. Doesn't Def Leppard have a song in animal? Yes. They do. That fits better. Yeah. Okay. There's a song by Nickelback called animals too. So somebody asked, Is Mueller in Culottes? I want to know if Neil knows what a culotte is.
I have no idea what a culotte is. So I have this bit that we're going to do for exclusive content at some point, and we're to put it on the podcast where I ask Neil questions about female related items to see if he knows what they are crotch. What a good a perfect one, I see. What is it?
It's like pants that go to bar right here. Like, oh, your calf is showing. So like a temporary. Yeah, like a Capri. Okay. Hold on. Okay. 958 on this Friday on Newstalk 179. And that's going to do it for the show today. However, if you want to join us on Facebook Live, just text live to (208)Â 542-1079 and, we'll chat with you for a few minutes there.
Have a safe weekend, and Julie and I will return Monday morning right here on Newstalk 1079.
